I've been extremely happy with coming to Lextech! They were kind to fit me in my first time on a Saturday morning for oil change although you really need to call ahead and make an appointment for service on Saturday's. The people were great and friendly. A few weeks after that my car was making a sound do to the underneath cover of the car rubbing on my tire. Again, they were great and in five minutes fixed it graciously for free. I'm impressed with the care, kindness, friendliness, professional excellence and quality of the staff and look forward to bringing my Lexus here! These guys saved me (and my wallet) from Lexus Santa Monica's service center. I took my car to Lexus SM for an oil change, but left with a horrible, filthy POS loaner car after being told I didn't need an oil change, just a 15,000 mile inspection (that I was charged $600 for). I was told it would take about a day; it took FOUR DAYS. They nearly refused to deliver my car when they informed me that I needed new front brake pads, quoted me at $420 for them, and I declined. The sales guy at Lexus SM copped a pretty bad attitude with me before finally delivering my car. A few of my coworkers in Century City own new Lexus vehicles (RC, IS, NX, etc.) and recommended Lextech as the *absolute best* option for service. They've been burned by the dealerships at Beverly Hills and Glendale, as well, so I was more inclined to listen to their suggestion... especially after they had seen me go through hell with the situation above. Of course, being nervous and skeptical (and broke) after my Santa Monica experience, I decided to poke around at these guys and see what I could find out before going in. They were so much more than accommodating. The owner offered to call Lexus Santa Monica to get to the bottom of why exactly it took 4 days for them to perform a silly little inspection that should have taken no more than 2 hours, and also quoted me around $200 for front brakes. When I took the car in two days later, I was informed that my rotors would also need to be replaced (mind you, I kind of already knew this, since I'd been driving around on bad brakes for a couple of weeks after the Lexus SM experience). They did the entire service for LESS than what Lexus SM would have charged for brakes alone. ... and it did not take them 4 days to do it. It took them closer to 4 hours. Their empathy with my situation, respect for my knowledge of cars, professional (and logical) explanations for what likely happened at Lexus SM, and their genuine nature here is what will absolutely keep me coming back. Their affordable, no-frills pricing and refusal to up-sell bullshit that you don't need is just a very happy perk. read more

Paul and the staff here are very helpful. My 2007 IS350 had a transmission (rough downshifting) issue after hitting the 100k mark and of course the dealer wants me to get a new transmission. Turns out Paul got me to change the torque converter solenoid and wow what a difference. Not to mention a money saver. I think the entire thing cost me less than $500. She ran good as new before I traded her for a 2016 IS200t. If you have an older Lexus and don't want to deal with overpriced dealer BS, go see Paul. He will make sure your car is taken care of. OUTSTANDING service. I brought in my 2006 LX470 with 165,000 miles on it. It was definitely worth the drive. They came HIGHLY recommended from several people. I didn't go there sooner since it's a bit of a drive for me but expensive repairs for my older car motivated me to check them out. I came in for quote & to have exhaust manifold, rack & pinion, and power steering checked. They gave me outstanding quote over the phone but said they could take a look at it to check if it has problems. They didn't recommend any repairs at this time. Inspection didnt last long and they were able to tell me exactly what the vehicle needed, the repair costs and the overall condition of the car with all honesty. The shop is clean, organized, not a stain on the floor! They are new but they come with a ton of experience. Paul is a master mechanic and is just a natural at what he does. He has worked on my cars for years and I would never question his suggestions. Today I went in for an oil change and to have my "check engine" light diagnosed. Paul was very thorough and being familiar with my old, 1996 Camry, double checked some issues I was having the last time he looked at my car. The oil change was $24.99 and he even rotated my tires! I ended up also having a new radiator installed as the surface cracks were becoming more prevalent. I also ended up with a new axle which was not only about to fully break but was missing 2 bolts! Scary. The car is 15 years old afterall! These were not upsells or additions but rather items I was putting off and knew it was time to have looked at. Be sure to have Lextech reprogram your tpms the next time you get new sensors with your new tires. They have the right equipment to get my 2002 Lexus SC430 back on the road and only charge a fraction of what the dealer charges. After the fact I realized I had a really bad service. But at first I thought they were great. I've learned a few things. I went there for an alignment and tire rotation and balancing. I hadn't done it i 1.5 years so I assumed it should be done now. Also did an oil change. I didn't know much about cars. I went there early May 2013. I have a Honda Civic EX 97 coupe. They told me I needed to replace the left axle and the right side bushing. I have no clue what that meant but they told me the alignment would be pointless without doing those first. I knew my car really needed an alignment since it's been so long. But didn't know why you get an alignment. So I said to go ahead. I didn't know their hourly rate was $92!!! They also said the oil pan was leaking and that it needed to be re-sealed. What do I know. So I said yes to all for a $500 charge! Then I realized my car was not aligned well. It kept wanting to move right when I'm driving straight on the freeway and the pavement is sloping to the left. My car should go left. It's going right. Big problem! I tell them. No problem they will do it again. I'm happy. They do it again and then say, your car will still not be aligned properly as there is a lot of heavy stuff in your car. OMG!!! Really!?!? Couldn't you have told me that the first time?! I would have emptied my car. I use my car for work. Now I have to empty it and come back a 3rd time! I have other things to do. Then after the 3rd time, they say, your tires will probably need to be changed at your next oil change. Ok. Then I found out the main reason you do an alignment is to prolong the life of your tires. Also the tire rotation. If my tires are almost done anyway, what was the point of me spending all this money on alignment and tire rotation to try to save them so that what, they last an extra week!?!?! Really disappointed by the service. I feel totally cheated. Will never go back and I don't advise anyone to go there. Since they did that, to me they cannot be trusted and they are more interested in making a quick buck than providing excellent customer service. read more

I visited the new location yesterday as my car was due for an oil change. The new location is right across the street from Super A Food market and there are tons of great restaurants/trucks along York Blvd. They now have an additional lift and their driveway is no longer scrape central for your bumper. I now have an IS300 and Lextech is the only shop to touch my car for routine maintenance or repairs. The guys here do great work, are honest, and prices are good compared to the dealership. After reading all the positive reviews, I was eager to try Lextech. Having called after hours, I left a message requesting an appointment for an oil change. The following day, I didnt receive a call back and I then proceeded to call multiple times during the day. Each of those calls resulted in me being forwarded to their voicemail system. If lextech cant accomplish something as simple as returning a phone call or answering a phone during business hours, how am I to trust their ability to service my car. #amateurmistakes read more

The starter they replaced two years ago died yesterday -- after less than 20,000 miles put on the car. Did I mention the timing belt needing to re-replaced after 2 1/2 years? They charged something close to $800 for that one. Again -- read through these Yelp reviews and understand that dozens of five-star testimonials for oil changes and lip service don't mean much. Paul is obviously putting in cheap parts when possible. You may save a little bit at the outset, and it makes Lextech sound like a bargain -- but you'll eventually wind up paying twice to get quality work. Go elsewhere. UPDATE: Those "factory rebuilt parts" failed -- specifically the bearings in the kit that was used. Notice how Paul does not say that these are brand-new Lexus parts (which no mechanic pays for). To replace those bearings, you have to re-do the entire timing belt package. It's a lot of work. The starter also failed. Basically, it was a massive waste of time and money going to Lextech and I would be crazy to let them work on my car again after having these problems. One of the mechanics was also quite rude when I brought it up, contrary to the measured response here; Paul was informed of my dissatisfaction at the time and did nothing to make it right. read more

I feel like Yelp really let me down on this one. I went here about a year ago and I'm finally inspired to leave a review because I went to a hybrid service (non-dealer) that was actually GREAT. I went to Lextech for my 90k service on a Prius and I was expecting the experience of all the great reviews, but did not receive it. I was there when they were about an hour or two away from closing, but I had an appt. First of all, I ended up paying far more than they quoted me for the service. Then, they recommended new tires and said they didn't have prices but would get back to me the next day with those prices. They never did. They also said the service came with a free car wash and what I got instead was a hose down with no soap or sponge used (I watched them do this from down the street when they didn't think I was watching). I feel like they didn't care about the almost double the price they promised and never followed up when they said they would. All in all, I imagine I got the second tier guys, but I really regretted not going to the dealer for this service as I would have paid less and gotten better service. Needless to say, I didn't bring it back to Lextech and wouldn't recommend them to anyone else I know with a hybrid. I gave them two stars because they did complete the service. read more

I have a Toyota Prius that is out of warranty and I will be taking it to Lextech to be serviced from now until I get rid of it or drive it into the ground. Paul and the rest of the team there are so knowledgeable and they do high-quality work. Lextech is amazing! I had my car break down on me and after getting a quote for over $1100 worth of work from the dealership, I towed my car to Lextech and got it up and running for less than $400. No up-selling, no bogus maintenance, just what needs to be done in a sensible way. It's hard for Prius owners sometimes to believe that our cars can be fixed by anyone other than Toyota, but Lextech is the real deal. I wish I had known about these guys a few years ago, because they would have saved me hundreds of more dollars. Also, they fixed a dent in my bumper just because they're great and they knew they could do it pretty easily. I can't say enough about Lextech - GO THERE IF YOU HAVE A HYBRID! read more

Over a year ago, my car died on me. I bought my sister's lexus off her. An older car going on 10 years with a lot of miles, but it still runs well. I've desperately been trying to maintain the car to keep it running a for a couple or more years. The other week, my headlight went out. Normally, I'm used to buying a cheap lamp and replacing it myself. Or my dad will take care of it. When we lifted the hood, we discovered the lights were difficult to get to. When we finally got to it, we realized it's the HID bulb. Which is a higher price! My dad said I should take it to a dealer or specialty shop because using an after market bulb will light differently because of the wattage etc. So I did a search for shops, because you know freaked will be $$$$. I tried a few places and I got some run around. My dad did mechanic work in the past. We also owned an auto parts yard. So I know prices and timelines on repairs, as well as general time it takes to do a job. When I dealt with Mishelle I knew she wasn't trying to jerk me around and gave a fair price on a headlight. A fair and honest quote that convinced me to leave the car. Michelle's professional manner and knowledge was a big plus. Lextech took care of the light while I waited. They even washed my car. I was happy. I turned on my heels and went right back to the office for a quote on tires. She gave me a fair quote on tires, which I considered. I did some price checking and shopping. My quote was consistent and fair compared with plenty of "sales" at other places. I could've taken my tires to a tire shop, if I only needed that, but I was looking ahead to finding a repair shop to maintain my car for future service. I called mishelle back to confirm the order and set an appointment (I recommend appt). I asked her to do an overall inspection of the car, while it was on the lift for tires and oil change, so I know what's ahead. She gave me another fair quote on brakes. She offered to take care of it within the time the tires were supposed to be done. I couldn't afford it this month, but I know I'm returning. So I'm sold as a repeat customer. Good and honest repair shops are hard to find. If you have a Toyota or Lexus, lextech is a very good shop. read more

The owner, Paul, is the absolute best! Not only is he an expert at servicing them, he's a passionate Lexus afficianado. I used to own a manual '93 SC300. It started to have trouble starting up. I took it to three different shops, recommended to me by AAA (I only went with them because they had a guarantee on any repairs made at their certified shops) and a Lexus dealership. None of them could fix the problem. In fact, two of them replaced parts that did not need replacing. At my wits end, I decided to give LexTech a try. When I drove on to the lot, Paul came over to greet me. At first, I thought it was only super friendly customer service. After a little bit of conversation, it became obvious he admired my car as well....more on that later. Anyway, three hours after I left my car with him, he had accurately diagnosed the problem and had it fixed and running again in 3 days. As I was leaving the lot, thanking him profusely for succeeding where other had failed, I spied a modded SC300 in the midst of an assembly. It turns out, he builds and races them. We then turned to nerding out about how awesome our cars were. It was then that I knew this business wasn't just a hobby or only about making money. This was a passion of his first. So much so that he decided to live in Japan for a while. He did all this at the most honest, reasonable price out of all the auto repair shops I visited. When I decided to get a new car, I sold him my beloved SC300. Manual transmissions are somewhat rare to find for this model and he wanted to use it on his project SC300. Walking away, I felt a sense of satisfaction and relief. It was bad ass knowing that although my car is gone, her soul lives on, reincarnated into a beastly, twin turbo-charged drifting monster that will be well taken care of. Cars that reliable (the car lasted me 20+ years) deserve the good karma. I recently purchased another Lexus and will be bringing it to Paul for the rest of its life. read more

Something kept triggering my "check engine" light on my car. My usual mechanic would reset it, check my car out, find nothing nothing wrong.....and three days later, it would come back on again. Repeat ad nauseum. That's when I found Lextech (thanks, Yelp!). It took a few visits - all at no extra charge - but they were able to find & replace the defective part w/in a few hours & probably saved me a ton of money on unnecessary car repairs! (Turns out, the light was triggered by some kind of fuel or oil leakage, which is one of the more difficult things to fix since there are so many hoses in a car that it's hard to be 100% sure where the leak is coming from). Lextech is now my go-to autoshop for my car. Everyone there is incredibly nice & they are well within my budget. Definitely recommending them for my fellow Toyota drivers! read more

I haven't written a Yelp review in years, but felt the need to write one today. I've been taking my 2010 Toyota Corolla to be serviced for years at the previous LexTech location. I have always found them honest, friendly and affordable. They have never tried to upsell me on unncessary service and their work has always been efficient and solid. I was sad that they moved because I used to drop my car off at their old location in the morning, take a short walk to work and pick my car up afterwards. Time came for routine service this month and I decided to to with a mechanic around the corner from my apartment that came with a good recommendation. I took my car in this morning and was told it would cost $110 or more just for a simple oil change, tire rotation and basic inspection. When I told them how much less this same service cost at my old mechanic, they start haggling over the price. It was clear they didn't have much experience with Toyota cars. I decided to call Lextech and they were able to squeeze me in today. Their new location isn't as convenient for me, but it was worth it. I was in and out of there in about an hour. Their new place has a nice waiting room with TV, desk to do work and comfy couch. It's also walking distance to plenty of places to eat or get coffee off York Blvd. I realized after I left they made a billing mistake and charged me for an older invoice. I called them and they were very apologetic and helpful in fixing the problem. They told me they had to move from their Silverlake location because the rents got super high. They said they lost a lot of their customers with their move. So if you've never been here before and are considering it, give them a chance. You won't regret it. Their customer service, affordability, and reliability are miles ahead of a dealership or other mechanics in town. read more

I was so scared to take my aging Lexus ES anywhere after the "check engine " light came on because I thought it would be a fortune to have fixed. They are so honest , that they told me it was the seal on my gas cap and the fix was $47 dollars. That's right, $47 dollars. I was so happy that I had my brakes done at the same time. Now I have a list of recommended repairs that they prioritized for me so that I can get them done as I can more easily afford them. Genius! read more

This is the first Yelp review I've ever written, and I haven't even left Lextech's place of business yet. I'm doing this from my iPad. I usually take my older Lexus RX300 to the dealership for service, but after googling them and seeing their horrible Yelp reviews and lots of mentions about Lextech, I looked Lextech up on Yelp and saw nothing but raves. So I came here to get an oil change. They did the oil change and told me I had a couple of dirty filters and a leaking valve (but that it wasn't anything urgent just yet). I got the filters replaced and they showed me how to check the oil to minimize the leak. Everything was incredibly affordable, whereas the dealership's prices are typically insane. They gave me a beverage, brought out two big containers of snacks (pretzels, trail mix), saw me on my iPad and gave me their wifi code, AND WASHED AND TOWEL-DRIED MY TRUCK. *faints* This is, hands-down, some of the best customer service I've ever experienced in my life. Definitely better than anything I've ever encountered regarding automotive service. I'm never taking my Lexus anywhere else. I'm so grateful to Yelp commenters for pointing me here and thrilled to know that such an awesome establishment exists. read more

So I just moved back to L.A. and on one of my first days here, realized on my drive from Venice to downtown that my air conditioner was blowing hot air. FML. So now that I am staying in the neighborhood, I decided to go to them based on the reviews. Glad I did. They found a faulty hose and fixed it for a reasonable price. They also confirmed someone else's assessment that my front brake pads needed replacing and that was reasonable as well. The mechanic who helped me out was friendly and great.
