My review is strictly on gel manicure. LeVista has been located @ Arbutus and 33rd for 10 years, according to my very un-talkative manicurist. I have never noticed it before, maybe because it's in a tiny strip mall with a gas station, Starbucks and M&M meats; almost seems out of place. What brought me here was a Groupon for Shellac nails; birthday treat for yours truly! I was able to easily make a last minute appointment over the phone; no online booking. When I walked through the automatic sliding doors, which seemed fancy, the salon appeared newish, fairly nice and clean. The front counter lady was pleasant enough and asked me to take a seat and wait. My manicurist popped up and waved me over to her station. No hello, handshake or any introduction so I sat down, looked at her and said, "hi and how are you?" Lol. She smiled and nodded. I am not always one to chit chat when I am being pampered, but it was pretty clear, pretty fast that she was there to do nails and that's it! I suppose she was nice enough, but after my last salon experience (Canvas) it was like night and day in the "friendliness and chit chat" department. Canvas, my technician new where I lived, what I did for work, all about my rabbits, my Christmas and New Years celebrations..... my manicurist at LeVista didn't even know my name, or ask! She did speak English Incase you wondered... I digress.... Anyhow, on to the nails. Overall, it was just okay. She was fast, about 40mins. She shaped, filed, and cleaned them up, painted them and gave a really quick hand (only hand) massage. I was never asked what shape I wanted and she filed them way too short for my preference. I've also noticed she didn't paint my nails close enough to the cuticle so they look a week old already :( There is also a more limited supply of colors to choose from and I didn't find my chair overly comfortable. In summary, if you have a Groupon ($25) and want a quick, no fuss gel manicure then give this place a go. I would not pay full price for the quality of service I received. I also LOVE a solid hand and forearm massage (like excuse me as I melt into my chair kinda like) and I certainly didn't receive that lol.

Went to LeVista for the first time for a gel manicure, and so far so good! I had Leena doing my nails and she took her time cleaning, shaping and doing my nails. I've been to other salons where the manicure is done in 30 minutes but here, the process was closer to an hour and 15 minutes (I did need to get previous gel polish removed though). Shape was good and so far no issues with the manicure itself. My one issue would be that their colour selection is pretty small compared to other salons I've been to, but I'm really happy with the shape of my nails - which some other manicurists haven't been able to shape well in the past. It's a little pricier than other places - it was $35 for the manicure + $10 because I got gel polish (not the price they have listed on their website). But if you check in on Yelp, you can get 30% off which is not bad then! I was also able to get an appointment on the day of / they accept walk-ins which was nice.

Awesome place. Staff is super friendly. I normally get gel nail polish and they last over 3weeks. =Dread more

I quit going to Pure as the service was never better than average-- if that--so I was excited at…read morethe prospect of a new place at the former Pure location. I didn't take any photos but it looks just like Pure except for the multitude of white sticky flower art placed on the wall. There were no new magazines for a new shop which was disappointing. Why don't shops care about keeping the customers happy in that regard? I was a bit disappointed there. The ladies were kind and friendly and told me they had previously worked at Pure. So you can imagine how all of these things made me skeptical at first. The massage was weak, and you sit in the same uncomfortable position on the sofas, without the massage chairs offeredat most salons. Then again, my massage was only an extra dollar as part of the opening special, so I couldn't really complain but it should have been part of the service, anyway. I was also given the option of an eyebrow thread or nail art which hopefully would have been a better pick. There were few girls working on a weeknight, so I'm not sure if they would have had time for the threading. But the actual mani and pedi (gel on hands only) looked pretty good to me, so $72 later (with a ten dollar tip) I was satisfied and left with a smile on my face. I appreciated the service, the stamp card and the friendliness of the ladies, so in spite of the familiar blips that came with Pure, the positives outweighed the negatives and I will likely return.
