Called to make a last minute appointment. Consultation done through the phone prior to booking a time slot. Service: - Really efficient and communicative with the appointment reminders via email. - Doctor came in for the in-person consult and treatment in less than 30 minutes and took care of the issue effectively. Was open to follow-up sessions, depending on how my skin reacted to the treatment. Luckily, only needed the one visit. Environment: - The office is really warm, staff appear friendly and spoke softly - Relaxed, clean and open seating area for waiting - Parking is available in the residential streets behind the office building. Broadway under construction and doesn't permit street parking. read more

Outdated clinic, rude & unwelcoming staff. Pricing all over the place and never cearly explained

The reason why I am giving 1 star bcoz of Julie, I missed my appointment and it is totally my fault and I feel bad for sure but the point the Arbutus Laser Center didnt call or text me to remind my appointment and Julie called me and she totally sounded not nice for sure. She was saying she has so many patients and I need to keep up my appointment but i have to fly out for my business trip all the time and i am sorry that i can come back to spend my $ on her with appointment. I told her i could go somewhere else instead of giving you the business. Basically she wants me to make more appointment and treatment with her so then i rebooked my apportionment but i told the reception i dont want to work with her. Other than that, i have no problem with this place. Julie is not the one you want to work with. read more

Super nice group of professionals. My consultation with Mi Mi was excellent. She listened to my concerns and issues and suggested the laser treatments best suited for my skin type, age and budget. This my 3rd time over the last 6 years to get some work/improvements taken care of. I strongley recommend you look into this clinic and undertake a consultation. Well worth the time and energy to look into anything you might need 'done'. Mark 57 year old male. read more

Don't waste your time calling here to get a quote for laser. Firstly, they told me that I'd need to come in for a consultation with their doctor. If I got a referral from my family doctor, the consultation fee of 175 dollars would be covered. If I did not get a referral from my doctor i would have to pay. Forget transparency around the costs. The woman WOULD NOT give me a quote!!! '124 per area', she said. I asked for an example of an area. She would not tell me. So, I asked 'for example, would a person's nose be considered an area'?. No response. Obviously, they just want to ensure that they're at least going to make 175 dollars from you, by either ripping off the Provincial Care Plan, or you. I also could not get her to tell me if a doctor used the laser, and if the cost would differ if they did. V frustrating experience. read more

I had one appointment here and I found the staff rushed and unprofessional. The facility was not very clean either. Soon after, I discovered from two friends who visited Arbutus that their skin was severely burned by the technicians. One friend's burn was so bad (burgundy and white burns on olive skin) that she couldn't walk or wear clothing on the area for one whole week. This happened two weeks before her honeymoon which, she had to cancel due to the second-degree burns. I visited Arbutus with her to show the Doctor the skin damage and the Doctor and clinician were both visibly shocked but still reiterated that the client had previously signed a waiver giving up all rights to sue in case of harm done to the patient, including burns. They didn't even offer to refund her! They just focused on the fact that she was not allowed to sue. read more

I have gone here for years and have been pretty darned pleased on the whole. I have been for a variety of pretty minor procedures and have been happy with outcomes. I found they listened to your needs and responded with really good options. Mid-covid, I went in for a usual procedure and during the course of that, i asked about a previous treatment I'd had years back and really liked. It was like they smelled blood. I had dry skin and hadn't been without my mask in months, no sun, no make-up...this was not a good hair day for me! Was I lucky - they had a consultant who just happened to be free to talk to me right then! I was whisked (not an exagerration) into another office and very gingerly, like a post-op patient being asked if I could stand, asked if I wanted to take off my mask. She had a procedure for me - just exactly for me - for women in an age bracket that... just undercut my age by sort of 3 years, so that they could avoid going under "the knife." It cost well over a thousand dollars and I'd only need it once or twice a year, every couple of years. I was asked about *my* concerns but this consultant very sweetly suggested some others. I was really disappointed. I've spent thousands at this clinic over the years, but I guess it wasn't enough. read more

I've now been here twice, plus one time for a consultation. My first laser hair removal experience nearly 3 years ago (not here) nearly traumatized me for all future attempts (I left there shaking for an hour, practically huddled in a corner, nearly speaking to myself...ok, slight exaggeration). Happily I got back on the horse....well, my desire for hair-free-ness got me back on the horse. And alas I found out about this place from a friend who had done a TON of research and ended up here. My experience thus far has been great. I highly suggest Juli...she is no-fuss, to the point, and will tell you like it is. And she will get you through what really is a pretty painful process, but she does it QUICK. Thank you thank you for that. Although I cannot speak to the whole center, Juli is fantastic. I'm happy with the price, so far happy with the results, and Juli makes me laugh - she really is very good at her job. Highly recommended! read more

I rave about this place to all the women I know that are interested in getting laser hair removal done! I finished all my treatments here and I was always very impressed with their cleanliness and service each and every time. The staff were very knowledgeable with any questions I have had and was honest in telling me everyone reacts differently to the treatments. It could take five or more treatments depending on which area you're treating, your hair thickness, how sparse your growth is, your hair colour, and probably a handful of other reasons. Generally the darker and thicker the hair is it is, the better it is that the zapper will recognize it. There are no guarantees how many sessions are needed and I was better off with them telling me the truth rather than being surprised later on. Your consultation and first session will probably hurt. So much! But it gets easier and easier every session as you have less and less hair. I dreaded going every time because it really does hurt! Feels like tiny balls of fire spitting out. I really appreciated that the techs worked really fast and you're done being zapped in less than 5-10 minutes depending on area. They have stress balls if you need 'em and it's nice when they have a conversation with you while it's all happening so you think less about the zaps. My recommendation is skip those Groupon's and go to these guys. Professional, clean, and I've been super happy with the results. Lots of street parking to be had - I never had trouble finding a metred spot along West Broadway or the side streets. read more

This place use to be great. I have had laser hair removal with Julie,,vein injections with Roxanne, cool sculpt and Vella with Jen,, numerous laser treatments from CO2, fraxel,, IPL, even the old erbium YAG. I use to see Dr. Bouy for Botox and fillers on a regular basis. He was sincere and caring. Recently I decided to do more fraxel and CO2 and they recommended a consult with Mikko and Dr Mintz. Mikko was great, sadly Dr. Mintz did not show up that day. The treatment that cost me $600 about 5 years ago would now cost me $2400 which I was prepared to pay and the doctor could not even show up for the consult??? read more

So glad I found this place! Amy has been especially amazing and I would highly recommend this clinic.

I've been going here now for 1.5 years and I've seen Cheryl and Marci and both of them are amazing. I'm extremely happy with the results and the fact that I have not been burned once (unlike at other laser centres *cough couch* Dermal Laser *cough*!). Both of these ladies take care to make sure I have the least amount of discomfort possible, which is great! And again, I mentioned before, the prices are pretty reasonable. read more

I've been going to Arbutus Laser Centre for the last few years for laser hair removal. I really appreciate Arbutus Laser Centre & their staff for being so timely with their sessions. My work schedule is sporadic so I really dislike having to wait around too long. It's fantastic when the front desk staff are able to get you in at the time you made an appointment for! Sarah has always been so great about working with me through the session and before I know it, it's over! After a few sessions, I no longer needed to come in, nor did I ever have to shave/wax or anything like that ever again. I come in once a year to maintain it now, and have never felt better about saving myself that little extra time dealing with unwanted body hair. And the best part about them is that as you see a reduction in hair growth, they also decrease the price of your sessions. I've been to a couple of other clinics prior to coming to this one many years prior, and they never offered to reduce their fees. Unfortunately Sarah is no longer with the laser centre, but their other ladies, Julia (?) and Carrie are just as professional and fantastic. I went in for a few clean up sessions (usually 1 every year) and enjoyed my sessions there - as much as I could while being lasered anyway! Love them and wouldn't go anywhere else if you're looking to do a laser treatment. read more

DON'T PAY YOUR MONEY TO THIS BUSINESS I have been going to Arbutus Laser Centre for many years and have been happy with the treatments. But since the ownership changed the price of every thing has been increasing by a few hundred dollars which adds up to a lot when you get a few things done at the same time. The new owner is in a hurry to make a load of money off of all the regular customers which Dr. Boey had for many years. This is not how you should run a business. I am definitely thinking of taking my business to a different place after 15 years at this place. Greed will run this place down... Their treatment of all loyal customers is despicable. The greedy new owner has no idea where the business is going. Or perhaps he/she wants to make a *hit load of money before declaring bankruptcy.. Such customer treatment is very disrespectful - everytime you go there for your next appointments they inform you that something else has gone up by $300. The previous owner cared about people and customers, the new one cares about money... read more

Laser hair removal with Julie has been topnotch, knows what she's doing, very professional and skilled with the *ahem* delicate areas, which I'm grateful for. I've had to return a few more times than I had hoped but that more about my stubborn hair than anything. The front desk staff are okay....the one suggestion I have is that they call clients about to remind them about their appointments 24 - 48 hours beforehand, rather than one week, which seems a bit too far out. When I asked why they don't do that, they said it's because they are so busy, they don't have time... I didnt get that. One reminder call is one reminder call. What difference does it make? read more

Agreed with Grayce E! I am having both tattoo removal and laser hair removal and could not be happier with both. Hair: Funny, fun and skilled ladies make this procedure easy and nearly painless. They really made me excited for the results, and genuinely seemed happy for me! It is genuinely affordable as well, not even factoring in all of the lifetime savings on razors and waxing in the future! Tattoo: the doctor, who works at UBC and does this as almost a hobby, is professional, while at the same time cracking a few wry jokes. I trust his technique completely.... even though it is probably the single most painful thing I have EVER felt (totally not their fault, just the nature of the game! And that is even with anithetic cream applied - I was shaking for an hour. I can't believe I have to go through it all again. Eep. The reception staff are really nice and atmosphere in the waiting room is relaxing. I cannot recommend the procedures enough - and this is the place to do it! :) read more

There are better laser clinics around now, they used to be a very professional clinic, 5 years ago. I now refuse to go Arbutus Laser Centre. Dr. Boey is very professional and have no complaints about him, his scar revision work is amazing.....However the ladies of the office are a piece of work. For instance: If you are late to your appointment or can't make it for any reason the front desk staff will be sure to make your appointment as uncomfortable as possible and the technician might turn the laser up or down to inflict huge amounts of pain on the client for vengeance. I've spoken to many former clients that have moved on from this clinic and they've had the same experience. A better business practice would be to implement a policy of a late charge and hurt the client's wallet rather than their skin. They are aware of the waiver you sign so beware of this clinic. There is a big turnover in staff and have no idea about client retention in my opinion. Choose wisely elsewhere. read more

I really like this place. This was my first experience with laser hair removal. The receptionist/counter ladies are very nice and respectable. They did a test patch to make sure my skin had no side effects to the laser. Came back a week later to get the area treated. On the day of the treatment You have an option of adding a numbing cream to the area, however I didn't. The laser that was used on me is called "YAG laser". The procedure was short and not to painful. My skin was red "sun burned" looking for two days, and peppered with black burned hair follicles. I washed the area with antibacterial soap just to make sure the area did not get infected. I'm really happy with the way this company takes patients privacy and care important. The price for the procures will depends on many factors however let me tell you it's not going to be hundreds of dollars, whats nice about their payment is on pay as you go basis. Make an appointment is so easy and there are no consultation fee. Trust me just do it. I'm a guy and I did it! Hate shaving! read more

I have been going to this place for years and will not go anywhere else. I just finished up my last laser tattoo removal and I am thrilled with the results. Though it was a painful and lengthy process, it has definitely been worth it. Dr. Mintz is the best! I've also had sclerotherapy, with Roxanne, for small spider veins. She was so thorough and the results were outstanding! I've recently started Clear and Brilliant laser treatments, for my face (old acne scarring), though it's too soon to see full results I'm very happy with my technician Mimi. I couldn't recommend this place more! read more

I got 5 sessions of laser hair removal and had such a great experience. Space is extremely clean and staff are so nice and professional. I felt totally comfortable with Amy and saw significant results. Would definitely recommend for laser hair removal treatments. read more

Botox is not Dr. Mintz's strong point. I've spent over 600 dollars with him, four times just for my brow furrow.....and had to go to my dentist to do a correction. He will blame you for any errors, never once did he take responsibility for HIS mistakes. I looked awful and both eye brows dropped, one was a pointed high and the other just fell into my eye lids. The most horrible three months I ever had to wait for it to wear off. He has no idea what he is doing, and he will smile when you address your concerns like it was your fault. Ask for another doctor. AVOID DR. MINTZ. read more

Arbutus Laser Centre is the best decision I could have made for my skin, my skin has never been better and I'm a shift worker, that says a lot! They carry all sorts of lasers and products to provide the best suitable option for you. I had my skin consult with Mimi, she is very professional and knowledgeable, she was able to make some recommendations for me and was not pushy. I was able to return home and think about her suggestions and try some of the samples she gave me. I quickly fell in love with the Skin Ceuticals line and I won't go a day without it. My skin is more hydrated, radiant, and smoother. I have also had laser hair removal done here after going to other places for "laser hair removal", I had some stubborn hairs that were hard to get rid of; I had the treatment with Juli. She is very experienced and works fast to make the pain as minimal as possible. The laser she used on me was called the YAG laser I think, and it totally does the job. It has gotten rid of all the stubborn hairs, I started treatment in September 2017 and have had 2-3 treatments since and now its just maintenance if needed! I am so thrilled and pleased with the service I received and would forever come here for my skin care needs. Highly recommend this place!! read more

I went to for laser hair removal. They were upfront on how it would work on me and after I had gone through multiple treatments and was at 90%, I was told that I could have another treatment, but it may not permanently remove the very little hair I have left. I was appreciative of the honesty and glad to have saved some money. Amy, the tech who treated me, was fantastic. Really kind and helpful. And the Dr who signed off on my treatments was very good as well. I will be going back for other treatments, I felt like I was in good hands. The facility was clean and the staff friendly. read more

Ok ladies (and gents) if you're considering laser treatment, I say don't waste any more time- you'll find its one of the best things you've ever done and wonder why you waited so long. I researched and checked out a number of places before coming to Arbutus Laser. Juli, my technician, makes you feel right at home (if that's possible with laser hair removal) and does her best to get you out of there as fast as possible. I recommend Arbutus Laser, my friends who have gone have been equally as happy. read more

I have been coming here for 2 years. If you are going for tattoo removal, this is indeed a great place. Dr Mintz is knowledgble and provides amazing results. Lazer hair removal - go somewhere else. Whatever hair is gone in 6 visits, that will be it. If things will go awry and your results are less than expected for the amount you pay, you will get to talk to very abrasive and passive aggresive woman named Julie, who will tell you that there is nothing they can do. None of the statements they will make during the initial consult will actually be honoured, so get all the promises in writing if you want to see them actually doing any work. You will be disrespected and definitely not treated professionally if there is a complaint. Julie will yell at you and insult you if you are not happy with results. Also, not the cleanest place, and girls at the front are not the brightest. You request one thing, they do something completely different, from appointment scheduling to simple math... save yourself some nerves and go somewhere else. read more

I should have come here first regarding tattoo removal. Instead, I went to a well known place downtown in a high-rise with beautiful modern decor. The Dr. was eager to get going on my removal after I asked if it would be gone in 3 months. WOW, had I known that there was no way this tattoo could not / would not be gone in 3 months, let alone EVER, I could have saved a few hundred bucks for a consultation fee & first (and only) treatment fee! At Arbutus Laser Centre, I met with Dr. Mintz who was completely honest and forthcoming. Green, blue, purple inks take multiple multiple laser treatments, thousands of dollars and possibly years to remove. And my tattoo may end up looking better now than what some possible scarring I may be left with. So my dreams of having my tattoo removed were squashed in a matter of minutes with only one payment, which can go towards a different treatment. Every Dr. should be this honest and lay it on the line for you instead of raking in your hard earned money. I'm disappointed that I'm stuck with my tattoos, but now I know and I know I won't be going back downtown for a 2nd treatment! read more

I would give a 5 star rating based on all laser services except hair removal but two stars for hair laser services - so call it a 3 star rating overall. Hair laser: The hair on my legs is gone after a full series of treatments, which is great. However, the appearance of the skin on my legs is marbled with red marks. I was really upset about it and consulted one of the doctors about it. He said it can happen from time to time if the laser machine has to be used at a very high setting and should resolve itself in about 6 months. It's been 2 years and it has got a bit better but it certainly has not resolved itself. I would not recommend this place for laser hair removal for this reason. Other services: Dr Mintz is very knowledgeable and friendly. I started with removing a tattoo and have since discovered many different lasers for many different reasons. 5 stars for Dr Mintz! read more

I decided to get my eyebrow tattoo removed because it has been above my real eyebrows for a very long time and was embarrassed to take my makeup off without being paranoid that people are looking at me weirdly. I finally did it and the process was quick and simple. The laser technician walked me through it and then did the "test" on me that actually removed all the pigmentation. I was really happy about the fast result!! Will come back for other services! read more

Professional technicians and fast results. Carrie is my favourite tech. She's thorough and funny making the process a bit more bearable. Highly recommend this place for laser hair removal. I have been to countless laser centres around Canada. When I was travelling I had to go to different types of laser places and none of them gave me results. After only 4 treatments on an area my hair is gone. My hair never stopped growing back after going to other laser centres because the majority of them use IPL laser which is not a proper laser machine for hair removal. Arbutus laser uses the most modern and up to date lasers for whatever treatment you need. The service is also outstanding. I've never been more pleased. read more

Although female, from hip to to ankles my hair was originally like that of some men: dark, course, long, abundant, and very obvious. Regrowth after shaving brought much physical pain. Leaving the hair brought cruel comments from strangers. (What fun teenage years I had...not!) Waxing was great for me, but very costly over the years. Fourteen years ago, when laser hair removal was new technology, I had excellent results with laser hair removal: At that time, the center I went to (in a different city) successfully removed over 70% of the hair -and it stayed gone all this time. That change was already worth it! This year, I thought I would see if 14 years of technological improvement could now deal with the rest. It could! I was tickled that Arbutus was so aware of their field that they knew where and with what machine I would originally have been treated with! They made their treatment plan with that information in mind. After my first treatment with Arbutus, those stubborn hairs did not return for a good four months. When they did, I had a second treatment and, 12 weeks later, there is still no hair. I anticipate needing another treatment or two for permanent results, but so far I'm very happy. They set the machine to a relatively high point for my stubborn ones, and that feels like "ouch" on a good number of points (I don't use the analgesic cream), but I'm only in there for about 20 minutes. My skin is bumpy and red for a day or so after, but this is to be expected. So far, my results have only been excellent. Long story short: the work they do here is spot on and I don't know where I and my ingrown hairs would be without them, but unfortunately, their word of mouth is another story, or "stories" rather. In prioritizing getting appointments when I need them, I disregard who I see in their center, allowing me to meet several laser specialist. The advice I've received from them though is often all over the place. Examples would be "Well, only you can know when you need an appointment." Right? To "You'll likely need appointments for the rest of your life; we just decrease how often."OK, fair enough. To insane things like "You need to come in *every time* you find a hair root, so we can get them out!" So...incessantly come in multiple times a week until I can't see anything? Or the regular "You should come in before you cycle of curly hair begins again, to stop it in it's tracks." This, I get. And then most recently, "If you just came in ever 2 months for a year you'd probably never see us again." This just plain contradicts the first two :l. Quite recently in fact, a female working on me there who seemed like a bat outta heck (but I won't name, assuming she had a bad day) cut me off insistently at every sentence; claimed I had "holes" rather than marks, and all over my face when my face was actually pretty clean; possibly tried blaming me, saying "With your sensitive skin, course hairs, and the way you are." To which I asked if 'way you are' referred to my skin--and she immediately cut me off saying yes, that's what she meant. To be fair she was crunching under the clock with only 10 minutes, admitting it was my and the office's mix up...but her tone and enthusiasm said another story. I had to even ask "Why do you seem so _scared_ about my hair roots?" She said it was cus she cared...right o o. When I see different people all the time - can't recall last I saw her specifically - but she _cares, so much._ I would absolutely give this place a 5, if not their mixed signals. I would give them a 4, if not for knowing that won't stand out among the masses of 5's...but at the end of the day they've REALLY helped my ingrown hairs, on several parts of my body. In gratitude of that alone, they deserve a 4. read more

I found the technicians and office staff to be very pleasant and informative. However, I was disturbed by Dr.Mintz behavior and attitude towards patient care. I had V-Beam done to reduce redness for stretch marks on a Wed. I went back on a Friday to show a small patch (3-4 pulses) that he clearly missed in the area. I wasn't angry but waited patiently for 25 minutes to show him the missed patch thinking he would correct his error. I had already paid for the service. He was rude and dismissive saying that he would do it on my next session. I shared that I don't want to pay for a second session until I get the missed patch corrected and get the service I already paid for. He wanted to charge me more money again. So my experience was that money over patient service was his priority. The 2 stars are for the other staff! read more

I went to this laser center after reading about the reviews on yelp. I highly recommend this place. I have been having the Laser Hair removal and I love it! The staff is informative and friendly. Its a no muss no fuss office where the staff knows what they are doing! They have great prices! Throw away the razor and forget about the bi-weekly waxing. And they have a variety of treatments, all listed on their website! While they may not treat active acne with laser treatment (seeing as they are not a dermatological clinic) they do treat acne scaring as well as other scars in general. I have referred everyone I know to this clinic and will continue to! read more

I've been coming to Arbutus for my laser tattoo removal. I'm currently having treatments on two different spots, and I am very satisfied with the process so far! Dr.Yam takes care of my laser treatments, it has been fast, effective, and comfortable environment. Currently, the tattoos are fading and healing well! I started going to Dr.Yam with just one small red tattoo on my arm, I'm about to go into my fourth treatment and the tattoo has faded in some parts. I've been for one treatment for my bigger black tattoo-- the fading is obvious (especially the light shading parts-- their gone!) , so I am very excited to continue my laser treatments! I usually go without putting on numbing cream because my tolerance is high, but for the big sensitive areas-- numbing cream on 2hrs before treatment helps SO MUCH! It's a patient process that you really have to be prepared for, but a worth it journey to say goodbye to some tattoos! Really be prepare for the aftermath (healing process shenanigans). It's a commitment (and trust me, I struggle with commitments and I've really been. Committing. To. This. *clap clap*) and I am seeing results. Greatly recommend this place and Dr.Yam!
