Very disappointing experience!! I had two treatments at this clinic and spent over $4,000, but unfortunately saw almost no noticeable improvement. My experience with Dr. Fung during the filler injection was particularly unpleasant. I asked for numbing cream before the injection However, the cream was only applied for about five minutes before he rushed to start the injections. The numbing had clearly not taken effect, and the procedure was extremely painful. When I asked if we could pause for a moment because of the pain, he refused and continued injecting. It was extremely painful !! The entire process felt rushed and careless. After the treatment, I developed a small hard lump on my chin. It has now been five months and the lump is still there. I have had dermal filler treatments many times in the past and have never experienced anything like this before. This makes me seriously question the technique and professionalism of the doctor. I contacted the clinic about this issue about a month after the treatment, but they simply told me it was a "normal reaction" and did not provide any real explanation or solution. Spending over $4,000 and ending up with a long-lasting lump and almost no improvement is extremely frustrating. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this clinic! read more

Time for a touch up!! Got an appointment next day for a bit o botox. The office was bight and as clean as last time and the Dr was friendly and did the injections quickly. I don't need much, and he never tries to up sell me on more then i need, or on any skincare (which is such a plus as i HATE the up sell!) I asked about fillers. I got some Radiance about a year ago wasn't really happy with the results.(Didn't see much difference and only lasted 3 months, not 9 like it claimed) He took the time to explain the difference between a few products and was told that it wasn't just me who was not happy with the Radiance and that is was no longer used by them. I also got a price quote on the Juviderm so now i can save up for that as i smile a lot !! read more

I just finished up a course of laser hair removal, and I am very, very pleased ... I got a GREAT result! Granted, I have fair skin and dark hair, so I am the "best" candidate for laser hair removal, so it may be more difficult/unpleasant/expensive for others, but I am THRILLED! I found both Cindy and Katia to be exceptionally professional and kind (even considering that they were doing painful things ... the laser does hurt), and I felt that my health and safety were a priority. I highly, highly recommend Dermal Laser Centre on Davie downtown!! I did laser hair removal (underarm & full bikini/full monty). Had 8 treatments from 2007-2012: 2007: Feb, Mar, May, June, Sept 2008: Sept 2011: Nov 2012: Feb Get Gina if you can--she's an angel, totally amazing.. I would trust my baby's life with Gina!! The fact that I don't have a baby is beside the point. Before I chose an establishment I spent hours researching online. This was when yelp wasn't around so I had to rely on the Discover Vancouver Forum. I'm usually very paranoid about anything medical, and since I wanted to do full bikini I was even more frightened. I just had this horrifying fear that they would accidentally laser and maim my clitoris and that would be beyond fucking traumatizingly depressing for me. After reading all the reviews, researching wiki, professional reports and medical journals on laser hair removal, checking out the companies' website and calling them, I visited 3 of them that had the best reviews for consultation. It's funny cuz though Dermal Laser's just 3 blocks from my home, in the beginning I didn't even consider it cuz I thought it's DT so it must be more expensive & people who work there would be snobbish & annoying, but after reading reviews and talking to the owner on the phone (who was a total sweetheart and spent a lot of time explaining how laser works to me) I felt like I could trust them. It was the last one I interviewed and as soon as I had my consultation I knew that was the one, cuz Gina was so thoroughly informative and loving, the equipment looked more high-end, and the price was actually cheaper than the other 2 places I checked out (one was in Burnaby and the other in Vancouver). I bought a package of $1750 for 5 treatments in 2007. After the 6th time it got cheaper (half price). Then I had very very little hair left, and maybe I'd shave once a month just to get the few stray hairs. Then end of 2011 I decided to just get all of them so I can throw away razors forever. The last time (8th) I went back I had literally 5 tiny hairs left in total for underarms so it's prolly my last time. The technician was actually persuading me not to spend the extra money if I didn't need to--I love that! Nobody there has ever tried to up-sell me, which is something that annoys every consumer. I used the Diode laser with 810 nanometer wavelength. I think Diode is great for Asian & Caucasian skin, YAG is better for black skin cuz it goes deeper. I am Asian and I actually didn't have a lot of hair to start with. I think Asians are "blessed" because we have darker hair on fairer skin and the laser gets attracted by darker color so it works perfectly. The results, like I said, are fabulous. I've done bikini waxing before and god I wish no pain like that on even George BUSH. No pun intended. And with waxing it grows out again in a couple of weeks. And then you are stuck with short coarse hair. You can't shave it cuz wax wouldn't work if you shave it, and then you are stuck in limbo because you've got tiny coarse hair and the whole point of waxing is having smooth skin so it's not irritating. Well there's also the cleaner hygienic factor so that's alright. But you still gotta go wax once every few weeks. Speaking of pain. Yes it could be painful, but you can take precautions. Get Emla cream. Lots of it. It's a numbing cream you can buy at London Drugs. I use up one tube every singe treatment. It's worth it. The first time I just put on a thin layer and like 45 minutes before my treatment because I slept in and it hurt a lot. Put on like a super super thick layer like icing on chocolate brownie and start putting it on an hour and half before your treatment because it takes 1 hour for it to start working. Those times when I didn't procrastinate & put it on an hour and half before my appointment, the pain is very minimal. Gina (or whoever does your treatment) will also give you an ice pack to apply on the area before and after the treatment to cool it down. There's also a great machine they have that blows cool air onto the area throughout the whole treatment to help numb the pain. With the 3 combined (and thick thick Emla cream), the pain's minimal. Every single time I was there every staff member was professional and friendly. Like I said, Gina is extremely professional and caring. Needless to say it's important and comforting to know that the person holding a laser gun pointed at your vagina cares about you. There was not one moment when I was with her when I felt worried or anxious because she is so gentle, meticulous, and extremely professional. The last two times I went back for touch-ups, I had different technicians doing the laser treatment. They were extremely professional, meticulous, and caring. I booked an appointment in person, and the receptionist was super friendly, helpful and I felt welcomed. She didn't try to upsell me anything or pressure me into buying packages like most spa's. So I booked a microdermbrasion treatment. Fast forward 2 weeks later for my appoinment, I was greeted by another receptionist, she was very welcoming, smiled alot, and made sure me and my friend were comfortable. The spa was super clean, our technician, Cindy (also the Office Manager), was the best technician I've ever had! She had this personality that was so genuine. She didn't pressure my friend and I into buying or "upselling" products to us. The treatment was gentle yet effective. She even showed us the dead skin cells that came out of the treatment. She explained each step of the way, and didn't critize our skin. I've had technicians in the past critize while I was getting my treatment done! Cindy knew what she was doing. My skin is super sensitive, but with her expertise, and the awesome products she used on my skin, my skin was glowing. Oh, and the fact she used gloves during our treatment, made me feel they really do care about hygiene and cleaniness. Everything about this place is wonderful, the washrooms were clean, the lobby, waiting area, treatment room etc...nothing but spotless! I agree with the other poster regarding Staying AWAY from - Dermal Laser Center. My friend and I both have dealt with Dermal Laser Center and feel they are: #1. unprofessional. #2. under-experienced. #3. under-educated staff. #4. Frequent receptionist and staff turn over. #5. Rude Staff members. #6. Making tones of mistakes with appointments. One Example: (Showing up two different times as per scheduled to be then turned away as they made a scheduling mistake. - making you waste costly EMLA cream and doing nothing to keep their customers happy). #7. Made a few mistakes with pre-paid services saying money (was or was not) used up when it was or was not. #8 Lie about the number of sessions needed - saying it's 5 to 6 then after one or two sessions they told both of us it would be 7 to 9 sessions to fully remove unwanted hair. #9. They rushed session's, not paying attention and missing area's that you're paying to get lasered. (This created my end results to be poorly done and more costly - touch ups will be needed. (Which costs more money). #10 THEY BURNT ONE OF US! (NOT JUST ONE TIME BUT TWO TIMES). (The first time not so bad. Honestly - I'm not sure why I went back. The second time they burnt me, I am now permanent scared all over the place. This was very painful and has emotionally effected me as my burns are worn for everyone to see and they can not always be hidden). All in all our business dealings with Dermal Laser Center they were not pleasant. They are all about making money and don't care about your well being. In my friends experience she felt that they always rushed to get her in and out the door, to get more clients though the door. (To make more revenue, again not caring about their clients who pay for their services). We gave them to many chances and have learnt a huge lesson. I am very happy with the results from this place. I was looking for a place to do laser hair removal on my underarms, and I was so close to buying the many Groupons for laser hair removal. I'm glad I didn't. This place is so clean, and all the staff are very friendly. They have excellent customer service, and phone you with reminders to when you need to do another treatment. If you are a student, you get a 10% discount, and there are sometimes deals for laser hair treatment on certain months. But even if you had to pay full price, the service cannot be matched. Had full legs lasered by Natasha on Jun 16. Nothing bad to say except the pain and it it was very expensive even though I had 50% off for half legs (I think I paid something like $475 with the discount). My first time getting this done. Good first impression on first day (consult only). Natasha seemed very confident in what she does and was able to answer all my questions. The whole thing literally took 30 min for full legs. It hurt, worse than elastic bands slapping onto your skin. I never took a break or cold ice back or any cream for numbing...I just wanted to get over with it LOL. I did take 2 caps of extra strength Advil, dont know if this helped or not. She was so nice to laser a couple of hairs on my side burn and also roughly did my bikini area,with no extra cost. Went home and applied some moisturizer. You should keep the area moisturized with a very mild moisturizer. Any ways, long story short, it is now Aug 18 and my legs are pretty much still smooth. I do have some hairs that grew back ? 20% ? but they are much more finer than before !!! I am so pleased and exited about this. Unfortunately, due to being so expensive, I am trying my 2nd laser at All Body Laser Corp (purchased at Living Social) for $298 for 3 laser full legs. I will review when I do that ! read more

I have had laser hair removal and juviderm and Botox here and I think it is the cats meow. All the staff are friendly and sweet. I found laser hair removal pretty painfull but worth it.. Didn't feel bad about letting out the occasional yelp, the technician was real upbeat and kind. . Do the emla and freezing if you are low pain threshold. The Botox doctor is awesome and doesn't try to up sell you and is honest about what you can expect. I would send my mother , daughter and best friend her for sure. read more

DR. DANIEL Y. FUNG - Dermal Fillers I went to Doctor Fung a year ago for dermal filler, Juvederm, under the eyes. He overfilled the area under my eyes, leaving distinct pads of filler at the top of each cheek. I went back to him to ask him to fix it. He agreed to fix it, but after the second treatment there were still two distinct pads, like puffy lines, that cut across my cheekbone. The lines catch the light, and make me look older. They also stretch out the skin. The purpose of dermal filler is to make the contours of the face look smoother. He did the opposite. I looked more youthful before I went to him. I have never gone back to a doctor a second time, but I went back to Dr Fung a third time. I really looked that bad. He used dimmer lighting this time, and explained to me that I just have to press on the puffy area to keep it from pooling. When I press on the puffy area, it makes the skin stretch and sag. Dr Fung has aged and deformed my face with this treatment. I will not use the filler removing material because that also ages the face, and so I have had to wait for it to go down. After ten months I went out of town to a previous doctor to get him to fix it. He said it was still overfilled, and that we have to wait longer for it to go down. I went back a couple months later, and he agreed to work around it to make it softer, even though it was not an ideal situation. The other doctor made it look so much better. But it is still too raised, and I have no choice but to wait. I have had this treatment by other doctors and come out looking fresh and more youthful. The amount Dr Fung quoted was much higher than other doctors, and I thought this was just his rates. A friend had recommended him, so I agreed. Afterwards, I realized he estimated high, and then overfilled my face. Overfilling stretches out the skin, making it sag earlier. This has been a traumatizing experience and I do not recommend going to Dr Fung. The only nice thing I can say is that he has a very kind bedside manner, and does great lips. read more

Okay, if you are even thinking of having laser hair removal done, you should consider, above all else, the safety record of the place that will laser your hair off your body. This is, after all, not something that just anyone should be doing to you. So, having done some research on equipment and on the extent to which staff of various laser centres are trained, I picked Dermal Laser, and I'm glad I did. All of the technicians I've encountered are very professional, and it is evident that they are well-trained as they take their work seriously and do a very good job. Moreover, as far as I can understand, the equipment used by Dermal Laser is very up-to-date and high-end. It might be easy to get overwhelmed by Dermal Laser when you first call, as they have four locations, and at first you call a central number to book your consultation, but once you get over that, I think this is a good choice for laser hair removal. This place is definitely more expensive than some, but I think this is a case of getting what you pay for. After all, I think I'd be a bit suspect of a place that offered to remove my hair permanently for only $25 a session, wouldn't you? So, please save yourself getting burned (literally), and think about coming here. read more

Absolutely the WORST experience I have ever had in my life. I came in for treatment for my acne and I was very excited at first. The clinic ONLY had 2 methods for acne and the other one wasn't even available when I needed it and when the attendant promised that it was going to be there. I came with just a couple of pustules on my chin hoping that it would get better. They recommended glycolic peels and also "UPSELLED" the most expensive skin care system (it's called MEDIQUE and it does NOTHING..no wonder there are no reviews online coz they probably delete them as soon as they're posted) I have ever used in my life just to learn that it would make my face 400 times WORSE. The dermatologist PROMISED that my face will get better after a few glycolic peels and the constant use of the skin care system. After 3 glycolic peels and continuous use of the system for 2 months, my skin has gotten the worst with acne on both cheeks, chin and forehead. I finally had to stop everything and I asked for a refund for the skin care system and they said that there is only a 14 day money back WHEN they told me to just keep using it (probably to just go over the 14 days). The telephone agents they have are very rude and superior feeling and all their workers BARELY speak English and you will always feel that you are judged and belittled with every visit. I am now with another dermatologist and I have no more acne. BEWARE of Dermal Laser. read more
