I am happy to recommend the Levine Eye Center in Rutherford and have told many of my colleagues and friends that Dr. Levine's office has the most up-to-date diagnostic eye exam equipment and they are really at the cutting edge of eye care here in northern NJ. She is extremely knowledgeable and has a very well trained staff who do take their time with each patient. I have been a patient of Dr. Levine's for more than 25 years. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Her conscientious follow up as to my concerns about both my challenges with extremely dry eyes (from a lot of computer work), my potential for familial glaucoma and cataracts has lately been her main focus. And for that I am most appreciative. I find her office to be a pleasant and enjoyable place I have never had to wait more than 10-15 minutes even when they were most busy pre-Covid. In fact, today when I went, I was very impressed as to both their strict adherence to the cleanliness guidelines and the numbers of people allowed in the office for which I appreciated, as well. Went there for about 2 years and always had the front desk lady complaining about family. Every time I was in process of the exam they would huff and puff constantly. Guy with glasses always rude and no hospitality. Always bombarded with demands in a rude demeanor as well. read more

I have been a patient for a very long time. I enjoyed being greeted by name when signing in, feeling welcomed. Both doctors and staff provide excellent customer service. I appreciate how they explain the testing and the results in a way I understand and follow through with the care. Both doctor's are wonderful listener's and are very kind. Beginning at my first appointment, I had a very bad experience at the Levine Eye Center. I first had to wait over 45 minutes to be seen, although I made an appointment. When I was finally told by the receptionist that I would be seen, I saw one of Dr. Levine's assistants. She took me to a room and wrote down my information....I then had to wait another 15 minutes to see Dr. Levine. When I finally saw the doctor, I felt like I was meeting a salesman for contact lenses rather than an optometrist. She was being very pushy to me to buy from two options/types of very expensive contact lenses. The eye exam before the dilation was fine and fairly quick, but she advised me I had to wait a few minutes for my eyes to dilate. After she dilated my eyes, I was sent to another room and waited for about an hour by myself. I finally saw an assistant walking passed the room and asked him when was I going to be seen again. I told him I made an appointment and never had to wait this long for my eyes to dilate. I told him it's been an hour. At my prior eye doctor, he would dilate my eyes and I would wait a few minutes in the same room. Nobody told me what was going on or how long I had to wait at the Levine Eye Center. After another 10 minutes, Dr. Levine saw me and checked my dilated eyes. Afterward, when I thought I would finally get my eyeglasses and contact prescriptions, she would only give me a prescription for eyeglasses...when the main reason why I went to this appt was for contacts. I told her I was not interested in the other types of lenses and she said I would still have to wait a week and book another appointment in order for her to give me a contact lens prescription. She gave me just enough samples to last the week. She told me to "just try the new lenses and I will feel like a different person". Total time at the eye doctor was about 3 hours. At my second appointment, I didn't have to wait that long. I was stern with Dr. Levine that I wanted to purchase the regular lenses that I usually buy (Acuvue). She wouldn't give me any more contact samples, and so I had to wait a week before getting the contacts in the mail. I was told by reception that the contacts would come straight to my house. After waiting two weeks, they never came. I called the office and they said that they were delivered according to their records. However, I never got any call from the doctors office or was left a note from UPS or Fedex. After speaking to the receptionist, we agreed I would come in to the office and order them again. When I got to the office, the receptionist kept asking me, "are you sure you didn't get them in the mail, or someone else picked them up?". It was as if she didn't believe me that I never received them and that I was trying to get more for free. I would not go back to that office if I didn't have to. It was crazy. She asked if I asked my mailman about it What bothered me the most is she kept repeating these questions to me. First off, it's not my job to ask the mailman. The Levine Center should have just sent the contacts to their office in the first place for me to pick up, or should have provided me a confirmation e-mail regarding when my contacts shipped and/ or when they were delivered so I could follow up and wouldn't be in this mess. Finally, the receptionist ordered them again and I picked them up from the office a few days later. When I came in to pick them up, the same receptionist asked me again if I found them or asked the post office. I advised her it is not my job to ask and also, I had a full time job where I cannot go to the post office during their office hours to even ask such a question. She then agreed with me on that. I will never come here again. I just received a confirmation in the mail of my "next appointment" which I don't even remember signing up for... never again. Go somewhere else. read more

I have been going to Levine Eye Center for three years now. Dr. Levine is extremely helpful and takes the time to give you a great examination. The doctor is very informative and always willing to answer all of my questions. They are so friendly and make all of my visits a pleasant experience. When I first came here I did not have health insurance yet through the company I worked for. They helped work with my budget and showed me glasses I could afford at the time. I have been going to Dr Levine for many years. I have become increasingly disappointed with the lack of professionalism of her office staff. My children are covered by 2 insurance plans and we never have a co pay. My little one broke her glasses at school today. I contacted the office and asked them to fax her script so I can order her glasses quickly. I was told I couldn't have my script without paying a $10 co pay. Really? What has this office become. I asked to please let me speak to a manager or even the doctor herself. No luck. Really sad but my family will never step foot in this office again. read more

I have been going to the Levine Eye Center for the last 7 years. I was looking for a physician that wasn't in a LensCrafters, but had a full practice, a range of eye glass offerings and an office staff. I started off seeing Dr.Levine, but recently moved to the younger doctor, Dr. Cusenza. I never feel rushed and have always had a pleasant, easy appointment. (It probably helps that I go annually in August, not the last 2 days in December!) What I really love about this office is that there is always office staff to answer questions, help with insurance and most importantly-- pick up the phone! I can't tell you how many times I have to play phone tag with other doctors offices because there isn't a staff member to answer the phone. Scheduling was easy, appointment was fast, and insurance was always taken care of for me. They have late hours once or twice a week, which makes things very convenient. read more

Dr. Levine is a very caring and professional eye doctor. Over the past 4 years she has helped me with my eye condition and has made great recommendations for eye surgeons. I have never had to wait more than a few minutes when I arrive. I find the staff professional and friendly and I always leave feeling that I have gotten the proper attention to detail that I am looking for. They also have an eye center with hundreds of selections of eyeglasses and the patience to find just the right frames for me. read more

I had a very pleasant experience as a first-time patient of Dr. Levine's. She was friendly, down-to-earth and gave me practical advice about a specific type of lens that would work well with my prescription. Since I am breastfeeding she recommended against dilating my eyes but urged me to come back and have it done at no extra charge when I am no longer breastfeeding. I was pleased with the selection of designer frames available in the office and appreciated the help I received from the woman who worked there. She recommended a specific size frame based on the lens I was getting and helped me pick out frames that look best on me. I really can't relate to the negative review listed here. The only negative was the slightly annoying woman at the front desk who insisted on taking my medical insurance information even though I have eye insurance. She tracked me down in the exam room for my husbands personal info since he's the primary account holder, first by calling the room and then by visiting it in person, as if her life depended on getting this information ASAP. read more
