Level B is one of those places that feels like a fever dream -- in the best and worst ways. You go down into the basement, and suddenly, you're in a dimly lit, curtain-filled labyrinth of crowded dance floors, questionable life choices, and unexpectedly deep conversations in the bathroom line. The Good :) * Coat Check: A lifesaver in the winter. You walk in, shed your layers, and pretend you won't forget to pick it up later. * Photo Booth: If you don't take a chaotic, slightly blurry photo strip with your friends, did you even go? * Seating Area Behind Curtains: If you need a moment to recover from the dance floor (or escape an awkward interaction), this little tucked-away lounge is a solid spot. * Music: Hit or miss. Some nights you'll get bangers, other nights you'll be questioning the DJ's entire playlist. The Bad :( * No Apple Pay. A tragedy, honestly. I lose things easily, so forcing me to keep track of a physical card in a dark, crowded club is a recipe for disaster. It's 2025 -- let me tap my phone and move on with my night. * Bathroom Situation: Three stalls for an entire club's worth of people. Enough said. You will wait, and you will make bathroom-line friends out of necessity. Final Thoughts Level B is grimy, chaotic, and slightly unhinged -- which, in a way, is its charm. You don't go here expecting luxury; you go expecting a wild night and maybe a story to tell later. Still better than Hideaway though! 3/5. read more

Level B has some lovely interior design. Plush seating, lights that make your clothes look neon, a well-stocked bar, etc. People love to come on Wednesdays because it's fishbowl night, but the fishbowls are way too diluted. Management can also be a bit unfriendly and it's Russian roulette regarding if you're gonna get the brunt of it. Personally I like this place more than Moonies, but I feel like there's so much more that can be done with such a pretty basement venue. read more

Level B? You walk downstairs to get inside - level B, like basement, get it? Get it? I was JUST here for Cinco de Mayo - the crowd was bustling and friendly! The DJ that night was good and played a mix of reggaeton, salsa, meringue, and bhangra. Cover was only $5 and you got a ticket for a free Mexican drink special (tequila, cactus juice, and something else?). There's ample seating and the bathrooms are clean. The lighting is okay - could be more on the dance floor, especially. The service was outstanding - ordered several drinks (cheap too, only $2-$4 shots, depending on what you want) from Sully and Alina was patient with us as well. I used to bartend here, back when Brad (the founder) was still the owner, and I was still a student at Cornell. Visited for my 5-year Reunion this weekend - the venue was practically the same, but the service and attitude changed for the worse. The new owner couldn't make it more obvious that all he cared about was money - nothing else. I first entered the bar around 10PM when the bar was still quiet, and knocked on the office door and asked for Brad. Had no idea Brad had sold the bar this year, but an Indian guy came out (Kam?) whom I later discovered was the new owner - pretended Brad "just stepped out." I told him I used to bartend at Level B and was back for my 5-year Reunion, but he was not interested in having a conversation and shut the door. Afterwards, I learned from the girl behind the bar that he was the new owner. I returned around 11:30PM when more people arrived, and the new owner was now behind the bar serving drinks. After placing my order for 3 gin & tonics, I told him I missed Level B and reminded him I used to bartend there. His response: "yeah yeah yeah." He then shoved me my 3 drinks (no straws, no limme garnish - they no longer even have a garnish tray) and the bill, and that was it. My friends and I later ordered a fishbowl - couldn't tell if they no longer measure the amount of KoolAid mix they put in, or whether the amount of vodka was now cut in 1/2, but wow, was it watered down. No plastic animal either, of course - just the bowl and a few straws. No DJ for the night either (because that costs $, right?) - just the owner's iPod. When 1:00AM came around, the owner ran to the mic and said it was the last song. Not to my surprise, the lights came on and we were all kicked out the second he could no longer sell drinks. Back when Brad owned the place, the party would go on for another 30-45 minutes while the bartenders cleaned up the bar. I only tipped because I have good memories of this place from 2009 - 2012. As a former employee, customer, masters degree holder from the School of Hotel Administration, and hotelier in the food & beverage industry -- My Advice to Level B's New Management: You can provide good customer service and still be profitable. I don't think it's for me. Went with two friends, stayed for a couple minutes to poke around and then split. There's nothing here you couldn't really get from a crummy basement party, and that does include the wicked loud music. Still, it might be your speed if you like a frat party atmosphere with a bar! Level B will always hold a special place in my heart. No, it's not a fancy or upscale club by any means (we're in Ithaca bro). But it's such an integral part of the college town scene that, as a Cornellian, you can't help but love it. Fishbowl Wednesday was the highlight of my week. Had a long hump day? Fishbowls are there to pick you up. Need to let loose and not give a fuck? Fishbowls will surround you with your loved ones and peers. This is why level B, in some ways, is the best club I've ever been to. After all, it's about the people around you that make the experience, is it not? That's really all level B has to offer. Any other night it turns into a desolate wasteland, and is not nearly as popping. But come Wednesday, it becomes a magical getaway where you can leave all your cares behind and turn up. Eh... This place is supposed to be "upscale," or at least that's what they wish they were. They try to achieve a lounge-y feel with some couches on one side and leave the rest of the floor open as a dance area, but I think the couches are sticky and gross, and who knows how many drinks have been spilled and how many people might've puked on them. Anyway, the dance floor rarely gets crowded. You can't ever predict whether you're gonna show up on a busy night or on a night with NO crowd. For me, I prefer the dance floor to be busy, it's just boring and awkward to show up with a few friends to an empty "club." And I've been here enough times to know that there really is no real pattern - it's just the luck of the night. There are some drink specials that are worth noting though. Tuesdays they offer $3 mixed drink specials and $2 beers and shots. The specialty on Wednesdays is the fish bowl (a fish bowl filled with liquor with little "prizes" and knick knacks floating around - they give you a bunch of giant straws to consume the drink with so if you're a germaphobic person, that might not be the thing for you). And then the rest of the week they have $2 beers and shots and some other specials that I can't remember (which means they're probably not worth noting). They have some students who will DJ on some nights and then other nights they have just a mix CD playing. Certain nights have themed music (house, reggae, hip hop) but that's subject to change depending on the "featured" dj and special events going on. Hours are subject to change; they usually open around 9 but last call randomly changes to super early some nights. The bouncers aren't v. selective about who they let in, but if it's a really busy night, sometimes they can get annoying. Plus, they like to make it look like there's a line to get in, so sometimes, you'll be waiting for a while, you'll finally get in, and then see that the place is nearly empty. read more

One of the best and only real clubs in Collegetown (see Pixel...although I rarely see people dancing there and I think of Pixel as more of a lounge than Level B). Everything else? The pits (see review for Dino's or look up the Palms...ew). This place is relatively clean, spacious, and usually plays decent music. Look, you're not going to get anything classier around here. A few things that have me coming back? Sufficiently stiff drinks. A good sized dance floor. Fishbowl night! Drink specials. Ample seating. It's dark (so you can almost imagine you're not in Ithaca, if you want!). Something I hate? Sometimes there's a cover. A COVER? REALLY? In Ithaca? You've gotta be kidding me. Level B is an interesting conundrum. It is the most average time you could every have. You never come out thinking "wow tonight was terrible" however you never come out saying "wow I'm so glad I went to Level B tonight." Good place for me and my fellow Cornell students as the staff are very nice people. read more

It's an ok bar that's mostly meant for college students and the millennial crowd. The bartenders are amazing and kind, but the vibes are definitely off. The music consists of solely 2010s pop edm remixes, which is fun for a subsection of the crowd. Don't even bother requesting music from the DJ that deviates from their set list of nostalgia. Rap music is a no automatically, unless it's white approved like Bodak Yellow or Humble. If you're a POC, avoid coming unless you're with a group who knows how to have fun. Otherwise, a completely average bar for a white crowd, not so much a POC one. read more

The few times I've come here, it has been pretty empty/dead, an aspect that is crucial to a place that touts itself as a "nightclub". I've only been here once when it was semi-busy. The other times, it was so empty that my friends and I ended up leaving right away. The music selection is okay, but they have themed nights, so you have to come on the right night if you want to hear a certain type of music (house, hip hop, etc). To my knowledge, Thursday is hip hop, and Friday is house, the only two nights I've been there. read more

Just a sad scene. Went there a few weeks ago with a few friends looking to have a nice time dancing and having a few drinks on the weekend. We went around 11 so we were expecting a nice sized crowd. However there were only a few rather scary looking patrons. When we made our way towards the bar we had our ear talked off by the owner Brad W. He isn't the worst guy you have ever met but he definitely puts out that creeper vibe. From what he was saying he came from money. I got the feeling he was that dorky kid in school and this club was his way of trying to be the cool guy. FAIL! But back to the club itself. The DJ was playing a strange array of music that was just not great for dancing. The drinks were reasonably priced so that is one positive thing I can say. The bathrooms were also a little bit on the dirty side. I would recommend Rullof's right down the street for a nice night out over Level B any day. read more

Most of the time this place is deserted and depressing. If and when this place is full, the fire marshall should be called because they allow way over capacity. The bar staff, specifically Jordan, is conceited and thinks he is hot stuff, when actually he's a mediocre, middle aged bartender that always lets inappropriate comments slip. I've found underage kids in their bathroom before that have been way over served, and then when I've told one of the employees they refuse to do anything about it. The owner, Kam, doesn't seem to have any ideas of how to run this place and always seems to have a WANTED sign plastered right outside the door. Either step it up or shut it down. read more

It's not a perfect place but it's pretty good. Drinks are not small nor expensive and during a good night there is some drink for cheap. However, most people won't get there until past midnight so not easy to enjoy unless your willing to be up late. read more

we love level B :) as someone else said, it can be quiet early in the evening, but it's usually really packed by 11 or so. if you get there early, you can get a few drinks and chat with friends before the crowd shows up and the dancing begins. the music is great, it's popular music, music that most people really enjoy dancing to. also, the dj's are great - they don't mind taking requests and they have SO much music, they can accommodate most any request. everyone who works there is great - they make really great and inexpensive drinks. even when they are packed, you don't ever have to wait very long for a drink. Sully and Brad are fantastic! i had some broken bones, but really wanted to go out for new year's eve. they were so good to me: they opened up another area so that i wouldn't get jostled around, they brought me some drinks and snacks.
