It is great to have a place that serves upscale food but isn't stuffy and pretentious. Service is always friendly and efficient. I love that they have a rotating seasonal menu. It is on the higher end price wise, but you get what you pay for. And that means nice portions, quality ingredients and excellent taste. If you are looking for a place for a great date night or a special occasion, this is a perfect place.

Got a Pinot noir wine and waters Starter=soup of the day: tomato w/ chickpea and chorizo- bold tomato flavor and lots of arugula in it. Not so much chorio but flavor was very good, not overly salty. 10/10 After the soup we put our nit-picking goggles on as we knew this was a pretty sophisticated meal. Daily special- pan seared mahi mahi with asparagus fennel kohlabi and arugula salad citrus buerre Blanc. Light citrus flavor is found thru the mahi mahi, its sauce and the salad. Very congruent. Asparagus was a neutral addition. Not flowing with or against the mahi. Fish was cooked well. Just lots of raw red onion on the salad was a little overpowering. 7/10 Red wine braised short rib- didn't ask how well done, so seems chefs choice. We have a preference towards med rare. This was cooked well done making it a tad tough-stringy. Mashed potatoes with some larger pieces of potato, but very neutral plain flavor, great with the beef sauce. Carrots cooked well, just neutral, natural flavor. Overall a very classic flavor combo that works.7/10. Would stop by again to try more dishes. Ps- when paying we noticed final bill to sign was more than first bill at table. When we asked why the difference we were told it's the credit card fee of $3. This was really the first time I've seen this at a restaurant, yet alone at a decent place like one. Would have been best for them to tell us this upfront.

Expansive menu of flavors with options for everyone and outstanding service!…read more Monroeville has been waiting for new options and Plaza Azteca is definitely meeting and exceeding expectations. Renovating the old King's building and now packing out the parking lot almost every single night of the week. From the floral photo wall out front to the gorgeous modern interior.. it is amazing to see a business owner taking pride in their building and doing everything they can to invite the community! The menu adds to that. Tons of meats and every Mexican option possible. Plus a well done kids menu and à la carte options for the picky eaters too. We ordered meals for six people right at lunch on a weekend and the food was prepared in under 20 minutes. Everything was so well packed for to go with generous portions. Plus they added in chips and salsa made everyone happy!! Takeout is right at the hostess stand and the bags were already full ready for a quick and easy pickup. Only tip - they don't take a name or give you a number for your takeout pickup, so you just come in and start describing your order!!

I had the beef quesadilla and almost choked on the first bite. Meat was cheeewwwwie! Cheese was pretty good, sooooo many onions! It wouldn't be bad if they were grilled, they were more like boiled. The Chips and salsa were just ok. My husband's order was wrong and he got something that he swears he didn't order. He ate it anyway, we're not that picky! My son enjoyed his burrito. I've heard their fajita's are good. Service was fine. We may go back for a cocktail one day, but I doubt it.

Most bowls are rice, greens, and/or beans based with various vegetables for toppings. Heartier than a salad but healthier than Chipotle. I've gotten lunch there a few times and have always been satisfied. My favorite bowl is El Jefe, which comes with rice, kale, black beans, corn, red onion, avocado, and a protein topping (I like the miso tofu but you can also get chicken). The bowl also comes with cilantro/lime sauce, which I do not get because it's very salty. That's my one complaint about Roots - despite their healthy ingredients, their bowls can get quite saucy and salty if you go with the default options. This particular location is well-staffed, so service is usually quick, but it can get a rush of students around 12pm.

The bowl was good but I was a little disappointed in the portion. Roots is a little bit more expensive than other similar options but I usually don't mind as they often give me a very full bowl, but that wasn't the case with the Gary bowl. It was less full than the bowls I usually get along with being very heavy on the rice and not too much chicken or even the kale. Aside from that it was still yummy but I think I'll be going back to my regular order next time.

They are all comfortable and spacious with seats that will work with any body type. They have a pretty large drink menu with some fun and creative options (and of course you could always order something not on the menu). The food menu has their featured chicken, pizza, salads and entrees such as pasta. I don't know the secret to their breading, but is is crispy and packed with flavor and the chicken is juicy and tender. Portion size is great and everything I've ever ordered has been tasty. The one downside is that with the high ceilings and nothing to dampen sound, it can get really loud . Not so loud you can't hear the other people at your table or anything, but noisier than most places that are a sit down restaurant. A wonderful spot for a tasty meal!
