    Menu - Noodles Soup (3.20.26)
    Aaron K.

LetsSweet Kitchen is a cozy Cha Chaan Teng (HK cafe) cranking out some real hits (and a few misses) in a lesser traveled part of Soma. This spot is a bit tucked away from much of anything else but definitely worth checking out if you're craving solid Hong Kong comfort food. I started with the HK milk tea, which was a bit of a miss for me as I did not get near enough of that strong, tannic tea flavor I love from the real deal in HK. Maybe their other drinks are more on point, but not off to a great start. Luckily, the food immediately turned things around. The curry combo was awesome, packed with curry flavor, spicy, rich and loaded with fish balls, bean curd, and hefty chunks of daikon (maybe could've been cut smaller, but still delicious). The wonton noodle soup gets an easy A+ as the noodles had that perfect QQ bounce, the wontons were plump with shrimp and pork and sheathed in a paper thin wrapper, and the broth was mild but comforting. Add a bit of red vinegar, and it's perfect. The Tom Yum Spaghetti was a delicious fusion dish with familiar spicy, tangy and sour Tom Yum flavors and I loved the touch of cream in the sauce that added some body and let it cling to the noodles a bit better. The only real letdown was the crispy chicken cartilage as the breading was a bit too thick and the cartilage flavors and texture became a bit lost in this preparation. The plain mayo on the side was also a bit puzzling and not a great condiment (I mixed it with a little sriracha which helped, but still not great). A simple side of seasoned salt or some sort of tare would go a long way in helping the cartilage itself be the star, much the way that it is prepared at Japanese izakayas, where I am not ashamed to say I have probably eaten this dish dozens of times. Despite a couple minor misses, I felt the meal was fantastic overall. The hits were bang on, the place is clean and comfy, and the staff were super friendly. A little pricier than your average cha chaan teng, but honestly, the quality and care make it feel worth it. I'll definitely be back to try the braised beef brisket dishes and lunch specials next time!

Milk tea and iced lemon tea were both good. The spicy beef brisket was delicious, made with tendon brisket. The lemongrass pork neck rice was great -- the pork neck was tender yet chewy. The cart noodles were tasty -- the pig intestines were very flavorful, and the dace fish balls were nice and bouncy. Only the squid was a bit disappointing as it was quite tough. No need to say much about the wontons -- they're amazing. More shrimp than pork, just the way I like it. The rice noodles were perfectly smooth. The curry beef brisket rice was unbeatable -- spicy but still rich with curry flavor Most importantly, the service was top-notch

Pretty authentic everyday hongkong food, which also means it's on the bland side in terms of seasoning (Cantonese food tend to go easy on seasoning and salt), some of the dishes you'd want to add more salt, or hot sauce yourself to make more flavorful. I really like that the restaurant also offers a selection of quintessential HK deserts and drinks, and its offering of dishes covers both more traditional Chinese Cantonese food, and more British influenced western style HK food.

I'm fairly confident at this point that I can get anything on their menu and not be disappointed. Yesterday, we felt adventurous and ordered their spicy ma lat chicken and rice noodle. There are several types of rice noodles used in HK cuisine but typically mai fun (thinner) and lai fun (round, thicker, slippery). This was made with the latter, of which I'm a fan both because of its flavor and because it's fun to eat. The ma lat soup was mouth numbing but not overpowering. Chicken was tender. Great dish. We also got the pork jowl and chicken chop over rice. The pork jowl is splendid how can they make pork so tender yet flavorful? Rice is perfect. In HK culture, rice needs to be cooked to perfection, where each grain is separate (粒粒分明). That means adding too little or too much water can ruin the whole pot. The butter / condensed milk toast was divine. Service is always top notch. Place was packed again on a random Sunday morning. 生意興隆, LetSweet. It's so great to see your business flourish.

This is my first time coming. I'm a Hongkonger and I can testify that their foods are authentic. Must try satay beef instant noodle: their sauce is thick enough not to get diluted in the soup. Beef is tender and the taste is exactly like the one sold in HK. I don't need to go down to LA for the satay beef instant noodle anymore. Their wonton noodle soup is great with big chunks of shrimp in the wonton. We also tried the fried chicken wings (all flat with no drumstick) and French toast. They're both tasty.

Impressed. Cute cafe, friendly service, and very good food at a reasonable price. Lots on the menu - you'll be annoyed about having to pick just a few things to try. Super cart noodle w braised broth and flat egg noodles - this was delicious. The fish cake was my favorite part. The beef was super flavorful. The broth was delicious without being overly salty. I was nervous about the egg (the photo on the menu shows a very hard boiled egg) but it came out perfectly gelled. Noodles have that authentic taste. Curry chicken: this is spicy!! But great flavor and perfect portion. Not too much chicken, but comes with broccoli, carrot, and potato. Can't wait to try more!

This place was solid! Wonton beef stew noodle soup was good, the wontons are very tasty and the beef was soft. Everything was good, tried my friend's curry sauce Ana it was tasty with a slight kick of heat. We got the rice noodles, curry balls and fish siu mai and it was also good. Red bean drink in evaporated milk tasty too.

Their menu is quite large and portions are more than enough to share, even for a large group. But I'm not a huge fan of HK food so a lot of things we ordered weren't my favorite. I like the curry dishes and the saucy rice rolls, and that's about it. Curry has a good spice to it, and rice rolls were nice and bouncy. Fish skins, noodles, chicken cartilage, and fish balls taste pretty standard. The workers were helpful and friendly. Good to eat with a large group of people.

Ordered Wonton Only to go. Only took 10 min. The soup was packed on the side was nice and hot. Although alittle too salty to drink on its own, was good with the wontons. The wontons had a good filling ratio with pork meat and a shrimp. Overall, I enjoyed the quick meal however, I did think the price was a little steep for 10 wontons. Although its a Wonton Only dish, maybe added 1 choy or lettuce would lighten up the dish and make the dish more worth it for me. I would come back to try other dishes but for the price, I wouldn't visit frequently. Especially since parking can be difficult. This is a good option for people working in the area.

Braised beef with soup noodles in spicy broth

I feel like this location keeps changing operations and restaurant names, but the offering is somewhat the same (HK style casual dining). Came here to try their food for lunch, I ordered the braised beef with soup noodles in spicy broth -- the "mala broth" lacks depth and flavor, it tasted simply spicy, the meat was ok but on the chewier side. I did like the service though - the staff were attentive and friendly (better than most HK cafes in the US). I'll come back and try their HK milk tea next time.

We came for lunch on a Saturday around noon and it was such a nice experience! A decent amount of empty seating and super fast service We ordered egg tarts (so good), rice rolls which were a perfect small bite, and the minced meat and egg rice was great comfort food. They had a good selection of classic comfort dishes and can't wait to be back!

I'm happy this address houses a business that aligns comfortably with the urban vibe of western SoMa. You may recall this space was previously the memorable SO, a spicy Korean spot with kickass chicken wings. More recently, it was Beyond Cafe, a Hong Kong-style noodle house specializing in braised beef noodles and soups. The Hong Kong connection is still here, but the menu broadened. There are still noodle options but also snacks, small plates, and American-originated dishes you'd expect to find in an old-school coffee shop in Hong Kong like spaghetti and pork chops. I think the locals would likely be more drawn to a diverse selection like this. Jamie W and I sure were when we walked over to have dinner here. We split three dishes each providing satisfaction to our undemanding palates. First up was the $8.50 HK Style Rice Roll, a chewy glutinous delight covered in a sweet sesame sauce (Photo 7). Then our entree arrived, the $16 Sichuan Chilled Chicken Rice, chopped pieces of skin-on poached chicken mixed in a spicy Sichuan sesame chili sauce (Photo 9). It was Hainan chicken with a kick. We ended with the $9.50 Sizzling Green Beans, a veggie side with an attitude (Photo 10). Tasty stuff. FOOD - 4 stars...true HK-style dishes like you'd find in Kowloon AMBIANCE - 4 stars...pretty much the same spacious room it was before SERVICE - 4 stars...pretty attentive TOTAL - 4 stars...hope this one sticks around for a while RELATED - Exploring western SoMa? This is likely my go-to Hong Kong style cafe in the city. The menu is vast and authentic and the restaurant has a clean, modern feel. It's usually quite busy on the weekends, but the food is worth the wait. I highly recommend their siu mai, rice roll, braised beef brisket noodle soup, and curry over rice dish.

We were a large group of 15, including several kids, and we completely understand that the restaurant is small and accommodating a group our size can be challenging. We waited in line for almost an hour with around 6 children. During the wait, a staff member named Sue came outside, asked how many people were in our group, and handed us menus. Since it was our first visit, we were naturally asking questions and trying to understand the menu. Unfortunately, throughout the interaction, her body language and expressions felt impatient and unwelcoming. There was visible frustration and eye-rolling, which made us feel uncomfortable rather than welcomed. Even after we were seated, the experience continued to feel tense. One of the toddlers in our group started crying briefly -- something fairly common with young children -- and we were told to "keep it low out of respect." While we absolutely respect other diners, the way it was communicated felt lacking in empathy, especially on a busy Mother's Day with families dining out. A small gesture of kindness or understanding could have gone a long way. Instead, my friend felt compelled to take the child outside, which was disappointing. Additionally, after being seated, we had to remind the staff multiple times to come take our orders. What makes this especially unfortunate is that the ramen itself was truly delicious and lived up to the hype. The food was excellent, which is why this experience was so disappointing overall. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because customer service and hospitality matter just as much as the food experience. Unfortunately, this was not the ideal way to end our Mother's Day celebration.

We ordered the lowest level of spiciness and while there was still a kick, it was extremely manageable. SERVICE: We were the first to be seated and our galbi jim took almost 20 minutes to come out while others waited even longer. However, they comped our garlic noodles and apologized for turning waits. Overall, I'd definitely return if I'm able to get into the first wave of seating.

Came here on a Friday night at 7:30. Had to wait about 30-40 min for 2 seats. The restaurant is…read moresmall so unless you have a 4-6 person party, expect to be seated side by side other parties. Typically what I saw was they do waves of seating and ordering so if you aren't there right at open/when they fill up, plan to write your name down and grab a drink nearby. Once we got seated, they were pretty prompt to give us utensils, napkins, cups, and water. The two of us shared the Braise Beef Galbi Stew. It's more than enough for 2 people to go home in food comas (with some food remaining) and for 3 to be sufficiently full. If you have big eaters, order an app alongside if you have 3 people. The Galbi stew was exceptional. I liked that they had various levels of spiciness. We went with spicy and it had a nice kick that elevated the dish for me. The beef was very tender and flavorful and the veggies and rice cakes soaked up all the juices. And the cheese was so stretchy! I'd actually rank this place slightly above Daeho given the shorter wait, the quality, and the price. I'll be back for sure.
