We were driving by Newmarket and to our surprise we saw this place behind the McDonalds-a great catch IMHO! We came for lunch to have their sandwiches and no disappointment. We only had sandwiches and found the meat and bread very fresh and tastes great. Not " cheap" but definitely cheaper than flying to Italy to get this authentic sandwich. Many other choices that we did not try this time so stay tuners for my updated reviews as I work my way through their menu!

Well I have been to let's be frank and most likely won't return. I ordered a veal sandwich and Greek salad. The veal sandwich was cold and hardly and any meat. I saw the lady just dip in tomato sauce and the bun was stale. The salad was bland and no feta cheese. I paid $30 for horrible food. No flavour at all. I will just say go to I'l bistro and pizzeria. I had the same veal and Greek salad for only $20. The veal was hanging out of the bun. Never go to let's be frank. That veal sandwich is from I'l bistro pizzeria. Amazing sandwich. My 2 cents.

Meatball sandwich with little meatballs tasted processed.

I'm always on the lookout for Italian sandwich places when I travel, so I was excited to try this one. Big disappointment sadly. As others have mentioned, service was not friendly or welcoming. I had the meatball sandwich, and I should have asked first if they are homemade or not, because it tastes like the frozen processed meatballs you get at the grocery store. This doesn't taste like a nice homemade sandwich by someone's Italian Nona, or even what you would expect from an Italian bakery. Sandwich, pop, and tip $20. Way overpriced IMO. I will not go back.

I was finally able to try one of there famous sandwiches that I heard so much about. I was deciding between the veal sandwich or the eggplant parmigiana and I chose the eggplant. (My all time favourite Italian dish btw) The place was very festive, warm and open concept. You can see the kitchen very clearly especially while they are making your sandwich. Lots of toppings to choose from, remind you each topping you choose will cost extra. The gentlemen was very nice and pleasant and acknowledged me coming in and leaving and he promised I will be back. Let's be frank! Lol he was correct! The sandwich was loaded with layers and layers of eggplant, and the extra toppings I got was roasted peppers, cheese and there jalapeño hot sauce (got some heat to it if you like spicy) the eggplant was done traditionally, breaded and deep fried. And the marinara sauce was delightful. The bread was very fresh, I wish it was toasted! I definitely will be returning to try other sandwiches and dishes. The sandwich with 3 toppings came to $11.50 but the size/portion was pretty big. Amazing authentic Italian hot food restaurant and they cater.

Came here for a causal dinner with friends. The atmosphere was nice and causal. The place was clean and spacious. Staffs were friendly. My friend wanted to order some mussels. It wasn't on the menu but they accommodated. We also ordered cheese pizza, meat ball spaghetti, Alfredo pasta. Everything taste good. Their food are more of a traditional recipes which I don't mind. It's actually better for my kids because sometimes the 'modern' type of Italian is too complex or too much herbs and my kid doesn't like that. Overall great experience and will definitely come back if I am in the area.

    The food looks great!

unfortunately, the absolute worst veal sandwich I've had in my life. Like dried dog food on an oversized bun with no flavor.

Awesome place, great Italian hospitality, they have grown and added a sitting area, plus LCBO licensed.

Upon entering, you'll notice it's not the biggest restaurant but they use their space efficiently to maximize tables. Their drinks were a good pour, came nice and stiff. Cesar salad was salad and homemade dressing. Dressing was fresh with a hint of mustard. I enjoyed that slight variation. Didn't come with Parmesan cheese or croutons - not sure I'm in for or against that as of yet. Pastas were good. Had a spaghetti carbonara and a farfalle carbone which had smaller sized tiger shrimp. A little pricy for what it was but still really amazing food.

However, I…read morecan't tell you how unwelcome I felt the moment my family (me and my two kids) stepped foot in this restaurant. On a Wednesday evening just past 8:00pm, we arrived at the doors of the restaurant and was greeted by I presume the owner of the business who mumbled something along the lines of them getting ready to close shop. And if we are dining in we should make it a quick one. This is despite the fact, that they were scheduled to close at 9:30, both according to their sign and Google. Anyways, we were seated by the owner and eventually served by the server. To be objective the server was courteous and generally competent, however, he did fail to top up our waters throughout the duration of the meal. Food wise it was above average. The Caesar salad was quite different from most restaurants where there's no croutons, no bacon and no shaved cheese. But I thought it was enjoyable and I like the fact that the salad had traces of anchovy taste. The Margherita pizza was alright. The tomato sauce was refreshing and the cheese tasted right. The flour had a a pretty good floury taste, but the body of the pizza could be a bit more well done. My favourite part of the meal was the Bucatini All'Amatriciana pasta. It's an interesting pasta texture that I've never experience before; clearly homemade. The guanciale gave the pasta a nice umami taste. However, the above average food was not enough to overcome the unwelcoming feeling that hung over us. One thing I forgot to mention is before the meal, I had a couple pieces of garbages from my kids that I wanted to dispose of. The washroom had no garbage bin and on the way out they had a box that resembled garbage bins in a fast food restaurant. I mistakened it for a garbage bin and after I disposed of the garbage, I was told by the same owner that it was not a garbage can. Although I wouldn't say he was totally rude, the statement was blunt and the facial expression and body language pretty much gave it away. One thing that was positive about the experience was at least their transparency toward their non-participation in the tax break government initiative. They had a sign posted right on their main entrance. Mi Casa, Sous casa... my AXX... no wait that's Spanish. Whatever... you know how I feel about Casa Carbone.

They accommodated an appetizer portion of the gnocchi, which I really wanted to try. My wife had two Apps instead of an entree; Portobello stuffed mushroom & grill calamari which she really enjoyed. I had the veal portafolio which was a great preparation and good variety of complimentary vegetables on the plate, plus a very savoury dish, made to order. I brought a group of 12 for a birthday dinner, and from the moment we arrived, we were treated with utter contempt by a server named Gustavo, who apparently also owns the establishment. The disrespect started immediately. While we were simply organizing our seating (before even ordering), he became visibly angry and hostile. After our appetizers arrived, he completely abandoned the table. Our used plates were never cleared, we were never asked how the food was, and we waited over an hour for our main courses. When we tried to order another round of drinks while waiting, Gustavo told us he was "way too busy" to take our order and that we "needed to figure it out" despite us being ready to order. When I politely mentioned that I hadn't ordered an appetizer and was very hungry, asking if my pizza could come out, he snapped, "You will get your order when all the others come out. I'm not going to push ahead your order for that." The "owner" then had the audacity to lecture us, raising his voice and telling us, "this is what I mean with you guys," because we had adjusted our seats at the beginning of the night. When I finally asked for the bill to escape the situation, he brought me someone else's check. When I pointed out the error, he blamed us again, laughed in our faces, and scoffed. When we told him we wanted to speak to someone above him, he condescendingly told us, "You're not in this industry, you don't know." Save your money and go somewhere where the staff, and the owner actually value their customers. Gustavo is unprofessional, disrespectful, and has no business being in the hospitality industry. Absolutely disgusting behavior.
