Getting my haircut used to be 2nd on my least favorite things to do list after laundry, but after coming here it's no longer that huge inconvenience that I put off til I look like Kramer. Lessard's is my go-to spot and I wouldn't think of going anywhere else as long as I live in Boston. Super friendly staff, plenty of GOOD reading material, and a TV to watch while you get your haircut- not that you'll need it because the barbers there are so nice and great to have a chat with. Who cares about this stuff though, right? It's all about the haircut. Well, besides the comfortable atmosphere and genuinely nice people who work there, they do a great job and are consummate professionals. I've been to 3 places in Brighton Center for a haircut and this one is the best I've found so far. These guys are pros that know how to cut men's hair. They're very friendly and the price is reasonable for a good cut. Actually, its cheaper than most of the bad cuts in town. Walk-ins welcome. read more

It's my birthday, I needed a haircut, I was visiting a friend in Boston, and this place was right around the corner. I took a chance, and I'm glad I did. First and foremost, Paul cuts a great head of hair. The added bonus is he's a great conversationalist, too. I highly recommend this place. The atmosphere is old school in the best way possible. It felt like the barber shop community you see in old movies. There's no salon nonsense, but these guys understand that a guy wants to look good. Bring cash - they don't take cards. Really friendly place, they saw me in about 15 minutes and I walked in with no appointment. I have never been to this place and they gave me the kinda cut you get from someone you've been going to for years. I had Paul cutting my hair and he was a pro. His way of doing fades is perfect and from what I saw of the other barbers in the place use a similar technique. Cash only which is no biggie and only 20 bucks (16 plus 4 dollar tip)! The very best place to get your hair cut. Theyntake their time and know what they are doing. One barber even takes a shop vac afterwards to make sure you don't have any loose hair. This place is a must for any men around the Boston area. Great barbers great atmosphere! read more

Dont get much better than here. Mike and his two main barbers know there stuff. Each one of them gives me the perfect cut every time. Always have the golf channel on and always a $16 haircut. Cannot say anything bad about this place. Just make sure you get one of the 3 guys cutting on the right side of the place.... Mike and Matt were my go toos. If they have someone cutting in the back on the left, its most likely someone new and you may just get a decent cut. I dont live in Brighton anymore but will still probably journey out there for a cut. read more

I'm amazed this place has such good reviews. I got a cut by the one covered with tattoos asking for a light trim and that I want to grow the back out. What does he do? Gives me a tape up. Maybe an honest mistake but that's not all. He left me looking like I got a haircut two weeks ago! Hair still on my neck it looked awful. I had to go to a real barber and have it fixed. Maybe it's just him but a place that allows such a crappy job clearly has no quality standards. If you want a real barbershop go to VIP Barbershop in Allston. Even Supercuts is way better than this shithole posing as a barbershop. read more

I live around the corner from Lessard's and they do a good job but whenever I go there is always a long wait. I tried going in the morning and there was only one barber and two men already waiting. Early afternoon, two barbers and three men waiting. They do not take appointments. Once I though I had struck the jackpot -one barber cutting a mans hair and no one waiting. Great. Not so fast. I was told there was one person ahead of me, but I did not see anyone. Now I go to the Barber Salon in Watertown. read more

My husband and I were in Boston for his 25th college reunion and his hair and beard needed a trim. We saw all the great Yelp recommendations and it turned out that his brother (who lives in Brighton) visits Lessard's regularly. We were lucky when we walked in mid-afternoon---it was quiet and Paul started work right away. My husband is very particular about his cut and how he wants his beard. Paul worked quickly and did a wonderful job. When he was done, my husband was as handsome as I've ever seen him :) To top it off, it was only $16! As other reviewers have mentioned, Lessard's has a great old-fashioned feel about it. If we lived in the area, my husband would be a regular customer! read more

Great barber shop. Staff is friendly and good at engaging with the customer. Sadly my hair is thinning in the front and they did a great job blending the thinning hair with the rest. I wouldn't ever go anywhere but Lessard's to get my hair cut. I started going halfway through my time at BC because a friend recommended it. Now I recommend it to all my friends. I went home last summer for a little over a month, and waited until I came back to Boston to get my hair cut at Lessard's. I'd rather have an overgrown cut from them than have a hold-over cut from somewhere else. When I started going, I had Matt the first few times. He's great. I've also had Paul and Greg since, and have nothing but good things to say about each of their work. They uphold a high standard that most places don't these days. read more

These guys are great. I have been going to them almost since they opened. Went to my old barber for fourteen years and stopped in here to fill the gap while he was in the hospital. Mike told me he understood customer loyalty and expected I would go go back when he returned . Long story short he didn't come back and I have been going there ever since. Very family friendly, something you won't get at a salon. My kids think of them as "Uncles". A little story about the caliber of people who work here. Two years ago my daughter was diagnosed with cancer. As we were preparing for treatment I went in for a haircut and told them that I may be coming in to get my head shaved in the near future. Without hesitation Mike said that he would as well and even got Paul into it. They even said that they would give my daughter the clippers and let her shave our heads. We also got a care package at the hospital from them. You get the whole package here. A good haircut, very reasonably priced and you couldn't ask for more personal service. Well worth the wait if there is a line. I would recommend them to anyone. No need to go anywhere else. read more

I live in Brighton and have just been going to Cost Cutters in Boston for years (Im a guy. Not picky). Finally checked this place out after passing it daily for 7 years. Classic barber shop, and friendly, personalized service that can't be beat. Feel like I've been transported back to my grandfather's day. My only complaint is I wish I had checked it out sooner! Best cut Ive ever had and that says a lot. If I can tell it's a good cut, you know it is because they usually all look the same to me! Awesome value, and even better haircut. I guess I owe this place a review, but I think its impeccable service and friendly staff and long history of good reviews mean that I'm just gilding the lily, so I am keeping it short. All the prior positives are spot on. The shop itself is a little quirky --- I think it must have been someone's apartment or something in a prior life --- but that's just a nice bonus.
