Based on what happened when I went back this morning to talk to them about my bad cut and get a refund or some sort of compensation, I'd like to change my review from one star to zero stars. Seriously, yelp needs to add a zero star option. These guys not only started to rudely talk to me and "curse" at me but I couldn't believe how incredibly offensive some of the stuff I heard coming out of one barbers mouth was... not towards me, but towards elementary/middle school aged children! I called up the shop Thursday morning to try to talk with the owner or a manager to explain the situation. I asked the first guy who picked up if he was the owner or manager and he just goes "what do you need" and I ask him again and he says "yah, what do you want". I tell him the whole story and he just goes "yah, so it took you an hour" and I had to painfully and directly finally go "I just want my money back" because he wasn't making any effort on his end. He goes "ok I'm busy, yah yah yah" and hangs up.
I was in and head to the right half of the shop where these two guys are. There are two guys there I start talking to both of them and tell them the story. I asked if any of them were the one I spoke to and the round headed guy says it wasn't him and the white haired clean shaven guy goes "who cut your hair?". The guy who did cut my hair had a customer in his chair and I didn't go in there to try to disturb their business or make them look bad or start a scene so I very quietly pointed behind me and said first chair right as you enter so him or his client wouldn't hear me.
This white haired dude sounded like the person I spoke to when I called (even though he said he wasn't). He says, we'll then you'll have to speak to him, we didn't speak to you and we didn't cut your hair. I asked him, what about the manager I spoke to, "was that you", and he goes "I don't know who you spoke to". I said, who's the owner, and he just goes "talk to him" pointing to the same guy who cut my hair and he goes back to cutting his clients hair. My guy had a client in his chair so I waited respectfully for 10-15 mins until he finished and his client had left. I said "hey, excuse me" and respectfully proceeded to tell him how I came in, he cut my hair, and I said I was really sorry but the haircut was really uneven etc etc and I just wanted my money back. He's about to give me back my money. I say again, I'm really sorry about this but... he hands me $17 and I have to painfully tell him "it was actually $20". Now the white haired clean shaved guy gets in the way, speaks up and goes "it was $17" I tell him no I gave him $20 and he goes the haircut is $17 buddy and points to the sign. Now he's suddenly playing the role of the owner when he made me wait to speak to the guy who cut my hair for 15 mins!? So I say "I gave him $20 and I'm not going to tip for a bad haircut".
The other barbers in the shop aren't saying anything. The guy who gave me the bad cut isn't saying anything and was giving me the $20 before this white haired guy stopped him. Now the white haired guy hands me $20 and tells me don't come back. I take my money and say "I don't plan to and turn to leave. Up to this point the guy was angry but civil enough, even though he was trying to be sleazy and avoid paying me. As I turn to leave he goes "screwball" and now I'm angry so I turn and go "hey, I work hard for my money just like you do". Now he gets into it with me even though he said at first that he wasn't the owner, he didn't cut my hair, and it wasn't his business. I didn't understand why HE was getting mad when the guy who cut my hair wasn't (he was definitely the owner). He cursed some more, made fun of the fact that I was wearing athletic clothing (like you're supposed to come in a full suit for a haircut?), implied I was poor and unemployed (I'm a med school student), said he makes more money than me, etc. I finally told him "have a nice day a%^hole, enjoy watching me drive by in my audi" and left as he shouted "yeah nice rental". I had a feeling something like this was going to happen so I hit record on my phone when things were getting heated. I'll post a link to the recording so you can hear how they treat their customers. I also held the paperwork for the sale of my car that I had bought just a few days prior up to the window of his shop and watched as he suddenly got all quiet and tried to say something before I walked away. At least I got something good out of the experience... that was priceless.
Also while I was waiting I was just listening to barbershop conversation and the same white haired guy was talking about elementary and middle school kids referring to them as "those little assholes" and he on countless times called girls "little bitches". He was using anecdotal evidence from his janitor friend at a local school (who shouldn't be talking about what he sees younger kids doing) to form the basis of his "opinions" and refer to them so derogatorily.
