I asked the stylist to tame it and we agreed to a spot about 3 inches, plus trim on the sides. I removed my glasses and said "I trust your judgement" which was a mistake. She worked on it and when she was done I put my glasses back on and my beard was less than an inch long. She said when she got to the spot we agreed to she thought it was still too wild so she kept trimming, without asking me. I didn't complain, because the damage was done and I thought it would grow back quickly, but a month later it's still much shorter than I want - and much shorter than we agreed to. If I can't trust a stylist while my glasses are off, I can't go back here.

(When I've found a barber or stylist over the years, I am very loyal and remain a customer for a long time, however given the circumstance I desperately need a cut and the need for this trumped my fear of trying a new barber sight unseen and without a recommendation. I am glad I did. The shop opened just four months ago and everything in the six-chair shop is brand-spankin' new. Despite this it has an old school barber shop vibe. They have a small fridge offering complimentary cold drinks, as well as candy, coffee, and have several large screen TVs showing various sports. Instead of the seventh chair, they have a replica Jeep to use for kids cuts. I waited for Elias (one of the owners) and found in him a very friendly, talented, detailed barber. Really though, and not to overstate, he is an artist. His thoroughness, attention to detail, and the care he offers each customer really makes him a true craftsman. I found him to be a throwback. He listens to what you want and works swiftly but does not make you feel rushed. The regular haircut is reasonably priced ($30.) and includes my favorite part -- a razor shave of the back of your neck including warm shaving cream. It's a slight bit of a drive for me to Top Legend from my home, but I believe I've found a new barber.
