This is not a company you should use Not working on improving your backyard. We contracted with them in in March 2022 to put a cement patio and a nice pool in. It was a very expensive process that we screamed and saved for because it was really important to us that it was done correct correctly. This pool and patio cost us almost 6 figures. It took them a bit to get the project going, not a surprise because a lot of people were building at this time so I understand that there was some delay. However, once they did start going it was clear that their team did not know what they were doing. The design that we agreed on was changed because the salesman we worked with had done the drawing wrong. Because of this, there was additional engineering required that ended up increasing the cost by $7000. The owner said this was discounted from what it would actually cost because he was sorry but it was not an expense we had counted on in our budget.By this point they had started digging so it wasn't like we could just cancel everything. From there, delays continued, communication was spotty at best, the sales guy was fired at some point so communication got even worse. We put in an automatic cover to protect our small children from falling in the pool and they dug the well wrong so they had to redo the concrete later in the process which means we have multiple colors of concrete all from them. When I pointed this out to the owner, he said that eventually it would be the same color. We are in 2026 and as you can see from the pictures there are three different colors of concrete that were poured by the same company during the project. We were not given a discount on the pool, they did some kind of upgrade to the pool equipment but honestly I don't know enough to say it was worth the hassle. As mentioned, we started this process in spring of 2022 and it was not completed until October of that year despite assurances that it would be done by August. It was an incredibly disheartening and frustrating experience that I assume could be avoided by going with another company.

He did. We signed up on the spot. From there Dave dug out the pool and drove the Bobcat unlike anything I had ever seen. A total masterclass. Throughout the process, owner Justin was always out overseeing everything while responding to texts and calls. The finished product with the rock wall, tile and wet edge mixed with glass and abalone shells made for a beautiful pool. On top of it, we are having them service the pool weekly. We wouldn't do that if we didn't like them.

Bryan is a professional from first contact until when your family is enjoying the pool and beyond. Bryan has been selling and building pools here in the Fresno area for several decades and this is obvious when you see his initial design. His care to detail is excellent and follow through is unmatched. When building a pool there are allot of moving parts and your builder is tasked with managing them. There is no such thing as a pool built without hiccups as suppliers, multiple contractors and nature all play a part in making it challenging. Bryan goes above and beyond to manage these "challenges" and is upfront and honest which is all you can really ask for as a customer. I hired Academic Pool Care to maintain our pool while we were selling our house. The pool really…read moreneeded to be drained and start fresh but because it was way to hot to do that at the time The owner Todd McFerrin said he could get it under control until we sold the house. He did a great job getting the levels (which were all over the board) under control. But then I noticed that for several weeks it looked like the sides and bottom were only partially brushed. Come to find out he had sent his teenage son to do the service. I'm not opposed to having his teenage son help out in the business but since we were having problems and trying to sell the house we needed to keep a watchful eye over the pool. Todd was well aware of this when we hired him. When I text him to ask him about it he made all kinds of excuses, which were probably legitimate but why did he not contact me about these issues? We talked about going ahead with draining it and he quoted me $622 including filter. After I discontinued the service I got another quote from a reputable local co that was less that half that price. Plus one time he texted me (after the fact) and told me he made an "executive decision " and did a filter clean and that it would cost $99. That seemed very unethical to me to tell me after the fact. I'm not hard to reach. He could have contacted me first. He told me that since he did that without approval he would split the payment so I can just pay it over a couple months with the service payment. Well he didn't. He charged me for it all at once through automatic payment. 3 months ago I discontinued the service. I gave him notice to stop coming and stop the automatic payment. It was about a week before the next payment but I wasn't completely surprised when I got the notification that it was going to go through in a few days. I notified him so he could stop it. He said he would but again, he didn't. It took 3 weeks to get it credited. I thought he had it fixed but the next month it happened again. This time he wouldn't return my phone call, my texts or my emails. So I had to go to the bank to dispute it. It was reversed by the bank. Now this month it happened again so I'll have to go back to the bank and dispute it again and pay a fee to permanently block him from charging. I know small businesses depend on referrals and I am always one to refer. I will not refer Academic Pool Care or Todd Mcferrin to anyone now. And I'm advising that if you currently use him to beware!
