I wish I could write a good review for Leslie. At first, it felt like she was very into helping me find a better job in NYC. She gave me tips and tricks for the interview but then gives me negative feedback including the exact things she told me to say. What company doesn't want a employee to grow? Silly. She then set me up with another company that had no diversity on their team. After the 3rd round of interviews, they decided to go a different direction. I feel like I was set up for failure. Waste of my time and MetroCard money. Other recruiters care more. I thought she was caring but she just looks out for herself. I was laid off due to covid and have searched high and low for months on my own for a job. I never really though to leave a review for something like this but it occurred to me I should take a moment to publicly thank Leslie and her team for their help. Things moved really quickly-- I submitted an application through Indeed for a job and heard from Leslie very quickly. We scheduled a meeting for two days later and I sat down with her and then Tamika (whos name I think I'm definitely spelling wrong.) Leslie kind of gave it to me straight and Tamika helped me navigate what direction I wanted to go in. I was looking for full time work but was available to do temp jobs in the meantime and they really hit the ground running. I VERY consistently got jobs through them, back to back. When I realized I didn't want to be in an admin type job long term, they were very receptive and listened and didn't get annoyed with me like I was afraid they would. And it would've been understandable if they did, because I literally walked in that first day saying I wanted an admin job lol, but they were really sweet about it!! Rating employment agencies in NYC is like rating piles of dog poop. But Leslie Silver & Associates is the poopiest. Let me tell you about my two experiences. The first time I went there I was given the gift of not having to share the same space as Leslie. Instead, I was handed off to this black woman who had a face like an axe. And a personality to match. She went through my resume asking (or in her case: "axing") questions which were one putdown after another: "I don't get it -- what does this degree you have put down here [notice, "the degree you put down here" rather than the polite and professional "your degree" as if I was lying] have to do wih these here jobs." "They laid you off? Weren't you good enough for them to move?" Several times this creature said: "Ya know, I know some people over there." Again implying I would be caught at something. In the middle of the interrogation, she just left. I sat in her smelly "office"(more like a closet) for about 20 minutes(!). Then was told by someone else(!!) to basically go home. So I did. But I called back the next day, axing to speak to Leslie Silver herself. Instead I talked to this pathetic fool named Mark, who has that oh-so-common manner of the truly stupid pretending to be superior by being intensely condescending. I told Mark that I wanted to make a complaint about the creep who wasted my time the day before. Mark said: "Never mind about that. Why don't you just come in tomorrow and see Leslie." Fine. Next day, I met with the Great Lady who told me that the rude woman from earlier had some mental and personal problems which -- get this -- "I wouldn't understand." Leslie then excused herself to go to the ladies room. She proceeded to take the world's longest dump. I waited for Leslie to return for 40 MINUTES! After 40 minutes, I left, but not before I beat the crap out of Mark -- who was in traction for 4 months after that -- and setting a fire in the rude woman's office. Okay, I didn't beat up anyone or light any fires. But trust me: you'll feel the same when you leave this agency. If I could choose zero stars I would. I do not understand why a so-called recruiter who stands to make at 5 figures off placing someone, would ghost a candidate. This one has repeatedly. Avoid at all costs. It costs nothing to respond to a "checking in" or "looking for feedback" email. A candidate should not have to reach out to a hiring company for feedback or follow-up. That is the whole point of having the recruiter. Reached out 6 weeks ago and still NOTHING. Another follow-up email a month ago - still not a word. Silence will cost you additional clients - hopefully others will steer clear of this one! read more

On the very same day, I was contacted by Claire Julian, VP at the firm, and we scheduled a Skype call for July 18. I have been working with Leslie for 2 years, and I must say, I would not have survived NYC without her. No joke. When I first came into her office with my resume, I was pretty stuck. I'd emailed a ton of recruiters (and employers) and none had gotten back to me. Leslie welcomed me and I gave me a job as soon as one came up. I have been freelancing, so my hours are always inconsistent. There have been times when I emailed the office weekly to let them know my availability, and times when Leslie called to ask if I can take on a longer gig. I was referred to her by a friend who had so many great things to say, so I set up an appointment. When I arrived, I waited almost thirty minutes past my appointment time to see her. After waiting for so long, she finally called me to her office. She only asked a few questions, and I explained my employment history and what I was looking for in my next opportunity. Our consultation lasted less than seven minutes, ending in her saying that she would get in touch with me. I've sent several follow-up emails, but she never contacted me once. It was a waist of time. After seeing all of the "thank you" cards posted on her wall, I thought that maybe she would be more warm and receptive, but my experience of her was not the case. It felt weird. read more

If there was a negative star, Leslie Silver's office would win the award. From the beginning, I was greeted by a very unprofessional and rude woman at the front desk. As I sat down the recruiters screamed to one another with doors wide open while the candidates looking for employment sit and wait in the filthy lobby waiting to be called. I couldn't believe what I was hearing back and forth to Leslie about her boyfriend or some woman they placed who didn't show up, but just then it got worse when I got called into Leslie's office for my 'interview' while she still continued to yell to her colleagues in the other rooms. Leslie does not look you in the eye, she does not get off the phone, or stop yelling and getting interrupted by her colleagues, she does not have any clients that she pretends she does- no right minded professional would work with her, she is rude, disrespectful and wouldn't know professionalism if it backed in with a dump truck to that dirty office amidst the huge piles filled with dust to say BOO. DONT waste a second here. EMPLOYERS or EMPLOYEES. The worst thing you can do for yourself is walk in here. Take your work experience in New York to somewhere professional and legit. read more

The office is very small and was not helpful at all. Office is messy and disorganized. Leslie wasn't the nicest person to me either when i arrived. Needless to say, you have to be the one calling every single day because they will not be the ones necessarily reaching out to you, even if they say they will. After I left the office, I was told about a potential opportunity and how they were going to contact me. They never did. When I followed up, that is when they told me about a lead a few days later. When I called for "interview tips" the person I spoke to was very rude and told me nothing useful. In 2 months, I've only gotten one lead and even with that, they did not contact me as to the result of that lead. Long story short, it was a waste of time and was not helpful. read more

Pay rate was low, even the HR manager when they found out how much I was getting paid apologized for the low rate and was shocked how little of what they paid went to me. The job was horrible, found out I was umpteenth person that had the position because the person I was supporting was a nutjob. And oh yah, one of the recruiters there will send you e-mails trying to sell her jewelry line? WTF?! Are you a recruiter or a jewelry designer? At first I was impressed with Leslie Silver & Associates. Upon contacting her agency, she emailed me back the next day and I interviewed with Leslie the following day. The interview last a whole 5 minutes, which was 5 minutes wasted of my life as nothing came about of it. Like Tina said, there are letters of praise plastering her office's walls, but if you look closely like I did, many of them are several years old. Perhaps when the economy was better, her office had an easier time finding people jobs, but now when her services are needed most, her office fails to deliver the goods. Leslie's desk is literally covered in stacks of resumes. It's not surprising that I never heard from her again. No organization whatsoever. read more

Leslie is great! You do need to be upfront with her on what you want and don't want because I did have an experience working for someone unqualified to manage. That position was a consultancy that was a revolving door due to a manager that likes to throw those below her under the bus for many mistakes. Beyond that experience, Leslie does her best and in the end will make you happy with your position, though there is always trial and error in life. I would say give her a chance and be yourself when entering their office. Claire in their office is not someone I would work with again. I once got a position and then she was untimely so I missed the boat. Stick with "Les" he assistant (and left hand) Mark is awesome though always busy. Best to go in. Yes- wear a suit but don't stress too much about it because it's really your personality that should shine through with this agency. And again- lastly- Be yourself and do not settle for anything questionable. The search often takes time- also it's good to call her on a regular and frequent basis if she likes you, because sometimes you just need to maintain your spot on her radar. That said- her heart is in the right place and she will get you and your career off to the right start if you give her a chance. read more

I met with Leslie and clearly outlined what I was looking for for my next role. She followed up by recommending a role that did not align with what I told her I was looking for; when I expressed concern about the recommendation, she got defensive with me. I followed up later to see if there was another position I could apply for, and I went on two interviews for the role. I followed up over email as Leslie didn't share status updates with me directly. I also called her office twice for an update - the first person I spoke to asked me, "What do you want me to do about this?" The second person I spoke to told me, "You must not be clear about how the process works." I think it should be pretty easy to give updates to clients and applicants, even if the update is to say there's no update. This is a completely unprofessional place with poor customer service all around. read more

I haven't dealt with them in years, but back when I did they were always reliable. I am headed back to NYC in the new year and they will be the first stop on my job hunt. The key with them was to constantly email and call to let them know you were around and available. They get tons resumes a day, you have to make yourself stand out.
