Initially, at the onset of the conversation, I specifically asked to speak with Gerry Sheridan. She's the person who I saw on my LinkedIn feed yesterday and I had already taken the initiative to send her an introductory email last night. In hindsight, seeing the wonderful reviews about Gerry, I wish that I had spoken with her instead of the insolent woman-child who answered my call. I informed the person of my very unique situation being new to DC and she immediately began interrupting me in mid-sentence. I guess she assumed that what I had said was more than enough for her to hear. Eventually, when I was able to get a word in edgewise, I told her that the interruptions were a COMPLETE turnoff. I also informed her that 40 hours is actually considered the maximum amount of full-time hours and anything over that was considered overtime. I don't understand how this individual in employed with a staffing agency and doesn't understand that, under the Affordable Care Act, 32 hours per week is considered full-time. Of course, she wouldn't let me continue the sentence to explain that much to her. And what was her excuse? "Well, I have another call coming in 20 seconds so I was trying to rush this conversation along..." WHO SAYS THAT TO A PROSPECTIVE EMPLOYEE?!?! If this is the first point of contact for anyone who calls your office, she is doing a major disservice to your company. I have NO intentions of calling back and I will definitely inform everyone that if they want to receive subpar customer service at the onset, call C-Suite Assistants. I'm beyond disgusted.

How to demagnetize myself from this futile staffing agency attraction? With only a mere five minutes each respectively to meet with three recruiters to complete registration paperwork of two forms of identification, and a two hour eternal ordeal to take a computerized skills exam powered by Prove It. It was a very impersonal interview meeting. I arrived at 11:30am and did not depart until 1pm because of this stupid long haul exam. The skills exam room of the computer work stations is a confined space with very minimal air circulation which restricts my best ability to rate well. Prove It skills test consist of MS Word 2007, Excel 2007 and typing. Note: Entrance is on 41st Street, despite of the address states 295 Madison Avenue and Park.

Fine so far. Then, he proceeded to present me with so much paperwork, I thought I was being arrested or signing up for sex reassignment surgery. I didn't actually think much of it but didn't have the time to sit there and go through it, as I had another appointment that I was already late for. When Brian was nice enough to e-mail me the stuff to fill out, I looked at it carefully. Why do they need to have my DIRECT DEPOSIT INFORMATION???? I want a FULL TIME job. I DO NOT WORK FOR VANGUARD. I was traveling to Japan the following day and said I would be in touch when I return and she tells me the position I was inquiring about will most likely not be available when I return. Yes, which is why I wanted to speak before I left! All very strange, beyond frustrating and completely unprofessional.
