Surprise steak with melted cheese, frites, salad, homemade sauces
Lindsay H.

I stumbled upon this restaurant due to its proximity to my hotel, and I could not have imagined a better experience. From the attentive and engaging waitstaff to the gorgeous atmosphere dimly glowing from the modern chandeliers filled with mercury bulbs to the steak, oh the steak, I highly recommended dining here. I ordered the surprise steak with cheese which came with fries, and it was easily the best steak in Paris and probably better than most of the steak I have eaten in Texas which is saying something. Unlike most French steaks, this steak had no gristle. It was tender, perfectly prepared, and smothered in melted camembert/brie, the perfect addition to dip the frites in. The café gourmand with its plethora of mini desserts was the ideal way to finish the meal. the assortment included a mini molten chocolate cake, raspberry sorbet, a rice pudding, a creme puff along with other delicious sweets. I hope to return here each time I come to Paris for the food and the overall experience. Next time I will try the tableside prepared tartare which looked incredible.

I have never rated something so low. The only thing good was the staff, which I felt bad for because they were overloaded. I ordered a €39 entrecôte medium rare and it was mooing. Completely RAW. I always order "á point". I ate it just because I can eat tartare. I can't say how disappointed I am/was. The server was so amazing. Only good part of meal. And yes. Saw other responses for the company. Just a big company response. Not necessary. Was terrible to spend $45 on a horrible Steak. Free glass of wine doesn't make up for anything. Oh. And the fries aren't as good as a different review. Ugh. Still pissed off. Avoid this place. Go across the street to the 7ème.

Terrible steak. Hard to chew and swallow, and no flavor!!!! Maybe it takes €120 for the meat to taste good here.

Pros: Extremely family friendly…read moreQuality service Fresh and amazing food Cons: Language/culture barrier but overall good enough Walked-in instead since I saw multiple reservations online. But, the restaurant filled up quickly after we arrived.. I recommend making a reservations if you can. Food was on point. Every was really fresh and potent in flavor. Foie gras was good. The escargo was perfect, no sand or acidity. The muscle was same, fresh filled with buttery sauce. They offered extra bread to soak up the liquid of heaven. My extra picky eater toddlers approved of their "chicken" which in reality is the duck confit. It came with a crispy layer on the outside and moist, tender, falling off the bone inside. Kid approved! Its a win, so mom and dad dont have to nag the kids to eat. There was a few awkward moments when they didnt understand us. The steak tartar never came out. But we were too full anyways. We filled up on the amazing bread. We asked for a cappuccino and he assumed were done with dinner. A few culture clashes but I dont mind. The staff were kind, very attentive, and had a lot of empathy when my 2 year accidentally poured water. They didnt even flinch and offered to help immediately. We really enjoyed our time here and the experience overall was priceless.

We all got French onion soup to begin with - it was good, a bit overloaded on cheese though to my liking. But the liquid itself was tasty. I had duck confit as my main course, and it was delicious. My colleague got steak tartar as his main course. The steak tartar came pre-mixed, and one of the ingredients was ... wait for it... ketchup. Yep, ketchup. I had a taste and it was really, really, really bad. I don't know whose wild idea was that, but this completely ruined the dish. Honestly, if this would be my order, this would be a 3 or maybe even two star review. Good service. No recommendation here. It is Paris. There are other choices.

Staff was very friendly and helped us navigate the miscellaneous item on the menu- I can't think of a bad thing to say it was fun and totally delicious! Don't go if you're expecting a full menu and a sit down dinner it's a store that sells charcuterie etc and they serve what they sell as menu items- I had a salmon sandwich that was just amazing - I highly recommend it! Try their oils, their garlic is amazing - the saucisson was probably one of the best I have ever eaten... add to that a nice wine selection and... I will go back!

We are so happy we stumbled across this place on Yelp, as it is just what we were wanting (and the food was so good!) When we went there, it appeared to only be locals there (it isn't in a super touristy area), which is always a good sign. We ordered a few of the side plates (they were sold out of a few, but that's also a good sign), and some meats and cheeses. The wine selection was great and we enjoyed it, very much. They appeared to be closing early that night, so we are happy we got there in time. Definitely check this spot out
