I asked for a cup of water. "oh we don't have tap water." So we buy a bottle of water. At least that was cold. The food comes and the potato was cold. I asked for some salt and pepper. Fantastic!!! Did not disappoint even with the anticipation. Crew working were friendly and efficient. I had the 2 meat platter with dirty rice and BBQ beans as my 2 sides. Both relish. 1st meat was pork ribs and the 2nd meat what the star of the show and why I was there smoked oxtail. Ribs were good, high quality and expertly smoked. Competition level. I wanted to be head over heals with this restaurant, but my head stayed firmly in place. My family and I went for lunch and spent seventy eight dollars for the three of us to get a meal and drinks. I get that food prices have gone up, but I wasn't prepared for that total. The dining area was pretty packed with very little room to wait for your food. The tables were all claimed, but not full. One table had four chairs and a single guy happily eating his food by himself. That's not the restaurant's fault, but it did annoy me that he was taking up a table when people were clearly standing around looking for a place to sit. We ended up at a table for two and my wife stood to eat. The food itself was ok. The portion sizes were not in proportion to the price and the beans, although flavorful, were lukewarm. The meat was tasty as was the BBQ sauce, but there could have been more sauce-we all ran out. I don't want to throw a lot of shade here, I can tell that it's a labor of love and someone really wants this to be a success. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, the brisket melted in your mouth, and the smoky flavor was perfection. Visiting Utah from California & this was on our "to eat" list. My goodness, did we go into a food coma after! The food is AMAZING, 15/10! And with my luck, we showed up as the banana pudding lady's husband was dropping off the cooler of banana pudding; don't even get me started on that. The oxtails were not fall off the bone. They were a little dry and tough in some areas. I got one big oxtails and a few pieces of extra meat. Oxtails are experience but my goodness, they could've given me at least two bones. It wasn't that great so it's fine. The Mac was good, nice and cheesy but a tad bit salty. I returned to Les Barbecue with my wife. As I promised myself after I just went through the drive thru the first time I was there, we actually entered the restaurant and ate in. The restaurant is not really set up as an eat in kinda place. There are three four tops, two of which are two tops pushed together. However, the restaurant is clean and spacious for what is there. We tried a three rib combo and fatty brisket, sliced. You can also get brisket lean or pulled. While we were waiting for our order, we sat down at one of the four tops and guess who we saw; Les, The King of Oxtails, himself! Les was filming a promo video at one of the other tables. He's a bigger than life kinda guy and was kind enough to come over and answer my question about the difference between his OG Nuggets and Candy Red oxtails. The answer is that Candy Red oxtails are simply sauced OG Nuggets. He agreed with me that OG Nuggets don't really need any sauce, though. After my wife and I got our order, we found that both the ribs and the fatty brisket are about as moist as barbecue gets. The ribs, in particular, are big and juicy; probably the juiciest that I've ever enjoyed. There really wasn't much fat, if any, really, on the fatty brisket, but it was extremely moist and tender. Our daughter the brisket fan would love it. I noticed that Les doesn't offer much by way of sides; only different varieties of Miss Vickie's potato chips, plus a couple of dessert items. I'd love to see what he could do with collard greens and other traditional barbecue sides. The next time that I go to Les Barbecue, I plan to try a fatty brisket sandwich. Brisket, chicken, pork ribs, and oxtail and the dirty rice and mashed potatoes. Let's start with the rice, so flavorful I could eat that by itself. But don't fill your stomach on the sides. Everything was tender, juicy, and so flavorful. You get two cups of bbq sauce and honestly you don't need it. The only downside is there's limited seating and nowhere to wash your hands. You're given plastic utensils but come on, who eats oxtail and pork ribs with a fork and knife? My fingers were sticky and smelled like smoked meat in the best way possible. My husband had been craving oxtails and we decided to check this place out. I placed an order ahead of time around 3:30pm for my husband to pick up at 5pm. My husband got to the restaurant 20 minutes early. He checked with the employees on status of the order just in case it was done early. They said they haven't received an order. My husband waited and about 4:50pm they got the order and was told they had sold out of multiple items. My order included 2 Texas plates and half the meat items like the oxtails you have to pay an extra fee on top of what you pay for the plate. Costing us $80 for just our 2 plates. My husband asked for refund for meat that we paid for that was sold out and they said they couldn't do that. But gave us extra meat and we were not happy about that. Why have and use an ordering system online that is not accurate? Or why can't you see orders that are out in early and set food that was purchased aside? Or Why can't you give refunds for product we wanted that You no longer have? My husband said it was a bunch of kids working and they seem like they don't know what they are doing. We tried the food and it was decent. Seasoning was good but the ribs and brisket were extremely dry, you can tell food is only cooked in the morning and left in heaters throughout the day and they don't replenish food to prepare for dinner. Walked in, noticed the floor was very dirty. They would not give us a complimentary tap water, which I've never seen at a restaurant. We were told we could have a free bottle of water if we left a review. I don't appreciate either of those business moves. The chicken nachos were absolutely drowning in cheese sauce to the point where I found the only 5 unsoggy chips and picked chicken off the top to hopefully at least not leave super hungry.
