When we arrived, we were shown to the room immediately after a brief introduction to the hotel and city. We were offered any advice we needed as well as access to concierge services gratis. The staff was welcoming and friendly as well. It's very comfortable. The room decor was elegant and the bed was wonderful after a long trip. Coffee and a welcome bottle of Prosecco were also waiting for us. The view is really, truly right on the canal. It's fantastic but surprisingly quiet at night, likely due to the excellent windows We took the water taxi to the San Marco Square then walked back and it was about a 30 minute walk with beautiful shops and restaurants almost the entire way. Final note, the breakfast was a very good value with a diverse selection and excellent coffee. We recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.

First, the staff is excellent and bend over backwards to help and provide what ever you need. I arrived via train after dark and the hotel helped get a water taxi to help pick me up at the train station. I stained a jacket somehow and the staff bent over backwards to try to remove it. They did a great job. The restaurant and the 2 bars are superb. Go to the bar that is not next to restaurant and get a specialty drink. When we were there they were offering Negronis with calvados to reflect a Salvador Dali painting that is in the Guggenheim. I want to give a shout out to Alberto at the Concierge desk who helped me numerous times, including with my stained jacket. A top notch experience.

Walking distance from everything you want in Venice. They gave us a free bottle of Bellini when we checked in. Great breakfast buffet right on the water, that was included with our room for being Marriott elite members. This has to be one of the nicest best hotels in Venice. The only somewhat downside is that because this is such a nice hotel, room service and the food options at the hotel are completely overpriced. But that's the case almost everything in Venice from what we saw. If there was some more reasonable food and beverage options at this hotel i would have given it 5 stars

The staff is extremely accommodating and always welcoming us as we come and go. They help with all of our bags and everything we needed during our stay. The room was large especially for Italy and European hotels. It had a huge closet and large bathroom. The bed was wonderful and comfortable with fluffy down pillows and comforter. There was a welcome treat left for us with some special cookies. The mini bar is well stocked and reasonably priced. The bathroom has a walk in shower, big vanity and mirror and toilet plus bidet. The best feature was the towel heater! Not only does this dry your towels quickly but the warm towel as you step out of the shower is divine! All toiletries are provided including little extras like toothbrushes and shower caps. There was a hair dryer as well. The bathroom was well appointed. There is no detail left out at this hotel. The customer care is exceptionally good. They ensure every detail and comfort is provided. They are always willing to call water taxis and provide recommendations for dining. The lounge and bar are also lovely and they take exceptional care of guests. This will be our go to hotel chain especially this hotel in Venice for the lavish experience. Everything here was wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Staff was friendly, accommodating, and professional. At the same time I was not blown away. My biggest issue and reason for my 3 stars is mostly based on the fact that I could/would not stay more than one night. We had a view of a wall and it was a struggle to even get to the window to look out. I didn't want to spend time in the room due to the fact that with no light coming in the room was dark. Not what I pictured my night in Venice to be. Others in our group had a similar lack luster view. Make sure you request a room with some kind of view. Breakfast was from 7 to 10am...we missed our "free" breakfast as we had to leave by 7am for the airport. They hotel provided a "breakfast to go" bag which was quite nice. I was impressed with that. The room has an Italian decour with gold and red colors. Shampoo and hand soap in pump bottles not individual containers. Coffee machine was excellent. Bidet in each room. Bed was comfy enough but I have had much better. Short walk to great cafes, restaurants and stores. 25 min walk to the heart of Venice. Depending how you go to airport (water taxi, car, bus and water taxi) I would say approximately 35 min. Hotel lobby is very nice, smaller than expected, and water and apples upon checking in. If I returned to Venice I personally would stay elsewhere.

They have excellent front desk people. Alvise was great in answering questions, always smiling and very good in guiding us places to eat, catch water bus, gondola service etc. We reached an hour early and lucky to get a room. Checked in without any issues and went to get some good and sightseeing. Rooms are maintained well. We had a queen bed , with 2 additional twin beds. The wifi is great in the hotel rooms. The shower had nice flow and very spacious bathrooms. Everything is maintained really well. We had a situation with Ac and the staff at night time cane and assisted us out. The breakfast was fabulous best so far we had in hotels. It was a grand buffet. The luggage storage rooms came handy, and we enjoyed the stay and will definitely consider it again.

It's official! My favorite city so far in Italy was Venice! Despite all the horror stories about…read morethe flooding, I was happy to still have the chance to visit this city while I was in Italy. During my recent stay in Venice, I reserved the Hotel Abbazia as it was one of the best locations near the Santa Lucia Railway Station. Literally, the hotel was 700 ft from the station, down an alleyway as I passed several restaurants; you can't beat the convenience and the price! For a budget hotel, this was a simple and decent stay--the room offers a small flat-screen TV, iron board and hairdryer, mini-refrigerator and air conditioner, and a hard ol' mattress queen bed, not the most comfortable bed but it was doable for the time that I spent there. The only thing it didn't offer was a damn elevator; BOO! Good thing for friends because my homegirl and her boyfriend were able to take my heavy ass suitcase up to the second floor or else a sista' would have been struggling! The hallways to the bedrooms were this sexy red lighting that automatically came on when it sensed any movement. I liked it but I sensed that my friends thought it was pretty creepy. The hotel offers a beautiful elegant dining/bar area with a gorgeous chandelier. This is also where free breakfast is served in the morning. I hear breakfast offered an array of different pastries and fruit. If you have time to eat breakfast, I would give it a shot. Make sure you also check out the back-garden seating area. It's perfect for enjoying your breakfast in the morning or coming out to get some fresh air. The staff during the evening was nice, however, I felt that the gentleman became irritated with me as the bedroom door had slammed shut on me as I was walking my friends out of my bedroom, and it just so happened that I had left my keys in the room. Also, just like similar hotels in Italy, the air conditioners turn off after a certain time, making these rooms stuffy. The only option I had was to open the window; UGH. The rooms are quiet, I couldn't hear my neighbors at all. The bathroom was super small, and the showers were not the best. The water temperature only provided cold water; BOO! You can tell the facility is a little outdated and needs some TLC. Within the area alone, there are varies different restaurants. Once you walk out of the hotel, you are right in front of all the activities. You can take a Water Boat to any side of Venice, or you can do what I did and just walk the whole City as its pretty doable to do in 8 hours. There are also bars all throughout the area, making for a great night. If you are looking for more of a convenient hotel near the station and close to many of the landmarks in Venice, I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are staying for less than 2 nights. P.S-If you are planning to leave your luggage at this hotel as you roam the Venice area, please note that this hotel doesn't lock the door to the luggage room. Make sure you take your valuables with you.

It's a small bed a breakfast with plenty of character, located in a quieter area of Venice just north of San Marco. It was perfect for a romantic getaway because it was walking distance from the more touristy areas (10-15 minutes) but peaceful at night if you want to escape the noise. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed, including a safe inside the wardrobe and a coffee maker for the morning. My favorite feature was the balcony and window though, because opening the shutters and sticking my head outside made me feel like I was in a Disney movie. I just need some talking birds to come land on my windowsill now!

We stayed in 4 hotels during our trip to Italy/Paris, and this was my favorite. We were there on the worst evening in 50 years (highest tide) and the hotel downstairs was flooded. We had to leave earlier than planned, and the managers there were very caring for us, gave us recommendation when we should plan to leave (avoid dragging suitcases in the deep water). I hope that they have been able to recover from the flood/damage. :( Due to the location (close to the water, lower ground) it would be helpful for them to keep enough rain long boots/covers for the guests in the future.
