I would give this place a 5 star review, but the wifi took almost a whole day before it started working for us. And being in another country without an international plan, wifi is life. But once we connected, it was a good connection.
I appreciate that we weren't in a too touristy area, but within walking distance to get to the cruise ships and the train terminal. The room we had was up a long stairwell and overlooked the street. I mean seriously, how are you going to fit an elevator into these old buildings? Especially in a place that is slowly sinking? But looking at the street isn't too bad for me. I could see into other living units across the way, which were not hotels! It was like being part of a neighborhood, which is what I really like when traveling in foreign countries, to really experience the culture and life of the area. Ok, I wasn't being too voyeuristic but one family had a child play piano after dinner, and another family liked to be nude. But anyway, it gave me a glimpse of living life in Venice.
The room was pretty basic. Simple bed and desk. And like I've mentioned before, bathrooms in Italy are quite small, but I must say this was one of the larger bathrooms. There was a washing machine in the bathroom, but not for us to use. The shower was cool because it had a full body spray. The only thing was that there wasn't a separate bidet. Kind of wish there was another mirror other than the bathroom mirror. Also, the hooks were kind of too high for us to use, being that we aren't even 5'-6". Appreciated the fact that the sink was large.
Check in is at Hotel ai Tolentini, which is about 5-10 minutes walk. I can say it's around the block, but there are no street names so that doesn't help. Would I stay here again? Most definitely. The mosquitoes though, are killer. So I wouldn't recommend sleeping with the windows open. Breakfast is included at a place across the way, but is fairly simple; juice, coffee or hot cocoa, with some breads. But that's ok, there's always gelato around the corner. read more
