Hotel Tre Archi is awesome, mostly because it's a hotel with hostel prices. The rooms tend to range between about 20-30 euros, which is great considering that the accomodations are more than up to European hotel standards.
The front desk workers while I was visiting consisted of a man and woman both days. The woman was remarkably unfriendly, and the man wasn't much better. But luckily my friends and I didn't have too much interaction with them beyond checking in and checking out. Oh, wait! I lied, the man working the graveyard shift (a different man) was much friendlier. He helped me both nights with accessing the Internet.
Wi-fi here isn't free, but it's a fairly resonable price. A half hour costs 1 or 2 euros (can't remember exactly), and you have to go downstairs everytime you want to use it because they give you a different password each time. Also, the internet only works in the lobby, which is super awkward if you're skyping someone...but oh well!
The inside of the hotel definitely has a pretty posh, Venetian feel to it with a chandelier hanging in the lobby, and antique-y wallpaper all over the place. Our room had one massive bed and one single bed; the booking website said it seated four, so three of us got cozy in the big bed. There was a fairly spacious bathroom, and a dresser to put some stuff in. Basic, but functional. And definitely several steps up from a hostel.
The best part about Tre Archi is the breakfast. For those who've backpacked or stayed in hostels in Europe, the breakfast can kind of be the make or break. The breakfast includes one drink from the espresso bar, and several food items such as cereal, pastries, yogurt, and cheese, along with a few other things I'm forgetting. There is definitely plenty of choices to keep you full until lunch while you are walking around site seeing.
Oh, and how can I forgot the pretty water-front location? Sure it's not a canal view from your window kinda thing, but once you step outside, you are right on the water. Beautiful! And, there's a water taxi stop right out in front of the hotel. Nice, nice, nice location.
I would only reccomend this hotel to young people or non-American adults who don't have an incredibly high standard for hotels. But for young folks, this is almost a dream come true! read more
