    Cheese platter

Went opening weekend and it was fabulous - sandwich was so delicious with home made bread. The large cheese plate was great for sharing. I loved the wine coolers - excited to see its growth !

You'd be unlikely to find this unless you knew to look for it. The main feature of this bar is the cocktail menu; it's creative and ambitious and yet very approachable, with helpful adjectives for each cocktail. The Mango Sticky Rice made my jaw drop; not only did the juicy mango come through, but also somehow a sense of starchiness, while being entirely balanced with the liquor. Definitely some of the best cocktails in Philly. And the music and vibe is so cozy but lively; the live records spinning create a warm atmosphere that is not sleepy nor dancey, instead you'll find yourself tapping your feet and swaying in your seat while in deep conversation or just enjoyable contemplation. I have to shout out Carl and Brianna, who made our evening especially unforgettable. They guided us seamlessly through the menu, were so knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. They really made 48 Record Bar feel like a second home we can't wait to return to. Last thing- the bathroom setup was such a fun surprise, you have to check it out!!

Unlike others, we felt the portions were not too small. Overall a very respectable dinner showing from Almanac. I kind of regret ordering a pre fixed cocktail because his Omakase was so on point to what he asked for and was delicious. I love rhubarb and Gin is my usual spirt of choice, so I didn't want to pass up the Hanamachi Rikki, but while I found the tart rhubarb refreshing, it fell flat when placed next to the Omakase. While I enjoyed the music choices, he did not and it was also INCREDIBLY dark/moody which isn't our preference, but makes sense for the intimate vibe they are clearly going for.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, since they are located right about Ogawa (also amazing)! We tried the omakase cocktail, which was really fun and creative. Although if I'm paying $25 for a drink, I do expect a bit more of a presentation... The scallop crispy rice was absolutely a favorite, we had to order two! The toro was also a standout, although how can you go wrong with toro, uni, and caviar? The wagyu dog itself was great, but the roll it was on was dry. In my opinion, the bread makes or breaks a sandwich, so points off for that one. The ambiance was cozy, if a little dark at times. Our waitress was knowledgeable and attentive and gave us good recommendations on what to order. I will absolutely be back for the crispy rice alone!

When I attempted to gather my things and leave due to his uncomfortable behavior, he physically blocked me with his arm to prevent me from walking away, forcing me to push his arm aside and tell him explicitly not to touch me. After being persuaded by the other women to stay in a different area, he followed us, continuing to make inappropriate comments. It escalated to the point where six people, three men, two other women, and myself were actively telling him to leave us alone. When security finally stepped in as things became heated, staff merely hung around rather than removing the individual causing the disturbance. We moved to the Red Room to get away from him, but he followed us and sat next to me again. An employee or security staff member sat between us, but while sitting there, the man in the jacket continued making disgusting remarks about me directly to your employee. When I defended myself and snapped at him, your staff told me to stop, effectively policing the victim rather than addressing the aggressor. Despite us repeatedly asking why he was allowed to stay, your staff continued to serve him alcohol. Instead of removing the person causing the harassment, your staff escorted our group into the Vault Room during a private wedding party event, placing us out of sight rather than removing the threat from the main venue. When we eventually moved back to the bar, he approached me yet again. He boasted that it was "his bar" and that he "knew the owner," implying he was immune to being removed. He then attempted to shake my hand, claiming "no disrespect," after an entire evening of harassment. It was a slow night with minimal crowds. If your venue prioritizes safety, I encourage you to review the camera footage from that Sunday night or speak directly to the staff who worked that shift. Escorting uncomfortable women to separate rooms and continuing to serve an aggressive, physically boundary-crossing man simply because he claims a connection to ownership is not protecting women. It is enabling unacceptable behavior.
