I noticed some of the bad reviews and decided to write one because I had such a good experience with Dr Bergeron. My exam took place over a year ago, and since then I have moved so I am sad that I won't be able to continue to be a patient of Dr Bergeron. This review is not about the Lenscrafters side of the business, as my experience was entirely with Dr Bergeron. She did an excellent job getting me the right contact lenses, but I was most impressed with her ability to diagnose me when I had a health issue with my eyes. I have been wearing contacts for 15 years, and suddenly my eyes were extremely irritated. They were in pain and they were extremely red. I couldn't wear my lenses because of the pain, and had to wear my glasses (which are really thick and make me look like a huge nerd so I always avoid wearing them in public). I'm a teacher so my first thought was maybe I had gotten pink eye from one of my grubby middle school students, but Dr Bergeron said it wasn't pink eye (thank god!). She figured out that the particular contact lens solution I was using was causing a bacterial infection. I guess some people are sensitive to this particular type of solution, so she had me change to a peroxide based solution. This change was the cure - my eyes, which had been bothering me for weeks, were very soon feeling much better. Dr Bergeron did so much for me in the exam. She showed me all the graphics on her computer, explaining the shape of my eye and showing me that I have an astigmatism. She also explained why she believed my eyes were red; she was honest with me when she said she wasn't 100% sure that this was the reason, but based on research and readings she had done, she believed it was most likely the reason. Her instincts were totally right and she is clearly a dedicated and professional eye doctor who knows her stuff. Good eye doctors are hard to find. I really appreciate that Dr Bergeron did such a great job getting my contact lenses just right for me and especially for so quickly identifying the problem I was having with my eyes. read more

If i can give minus or even zero i would. I bought a Burberry frame with the lense and hoping its a better quality -unlike my cheap online typical purchases- after 4 weeks, my lense that was supposed to be anti-scratch on top other options, it scratch only on the right side right where my sight located the most. So i go back there and they said oh its because u dropped it and scratch the ground. So i went home because it avoid the warranty. Now is on a year after and i dont even use it because the scratch keep bugging me and i just saw underneath of my lense its peeling off. Idk what is that but it's obviously a cheaply made coating and sell it for overprice market. I need people to know that to bring your business elsewhere. Their 'opticians' has no optician skill, they were taught how to 'be optician' without knowing what exactly they have to do. I went to a different optical store and told them my experience, he said that he used to be hired there and teach those salespeople to be 'optician' wanna be. And he is the one that made me realize why the scratch is only on 1 side. Lense crafter, you should be ashamed of your self. Selling overpriced item with no quality. Now i doubt my frame is really burberry or just a knock-off and sell it for $600 for profit. I paid almost $700 for those pairs. My online glasses are better quality than theirs. I brought my 18 year old daughter here for glasses with a current prescription that was a few months old. The glasses were nice, but expensive. My daughter was at college and when she came for the holiday break, she mentioned she was having trouble driving at night and struggling to see properly. We set up an extra eye exam at her regular eye doctor who confirmed with us that Lenscrafters filled a prescription that was from a prior purchase, not the current one. This has happened at another Lenscrafters many years ago to me, so I no longer trust them to fill the prescription properly. I called the store and they said they needed to see the glasses, but the sales person confirmed they filled the wrong prescription. We brought them in today and they denied filling the wrong prescription, blamed it on the "type of lenses" and that some people do not get used to them. Our opthalmologist confirmed with us it was the WRONG prescription. I do not trust them to replace the lenses. I reasonably asked for a refund on just the lenses (which were $400) as we would have them replaced at our regular doctor's office. They denied everything and would not refund anything. So now we are out over $400 for the lenses, the correct ones cost $500 and we had to pay for an extra eye exam. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL. I have written to corporate and am awaiting their reply. After a good experience here with a wonderful associate I decided to book an eye exam here. I asked them "Do you take VSP" and they assured me that they did. When I got there for the appointment they wanted to see my card (VSP doesn't issue them) which was a red flag. Then the abrasive receptionist wanted to see my health insurance card (My health insurance doesn't include vision which is why my employer provides VSP) & when I balked she told me that I didn't know anything cuz I had never been there before. When she asked for a $49 copay I knew I was being scammed because the VSP copay is $10. She told me I had a $70 allowance for frames & VSP gives $200. I walked out & called VSP and they said LensCrafters is out of network and they should have disclosed that. They are dishonest and lie about accepting VSP. Their eye doctor's receptionist is crusty and rude. I'm angry because I almost got roped into paying $1500 for glasses. This business is unscrupulous so beware! read more

I have been using LensCrafters since they were located next to Market Basket. What happened? I ordered glasses on August 10 and was assured that they would be ready no later than August 24. I con August 24 and they say that there was a delay in it will be August 30. Today is August 30 and I called and they said now September 6, so I canceled my order. Wow let me just say what a lovely experience I just had... First off the doctor was very thorough and attentive throughout my visit. The assistant was friendly and accommodating. I have never had a better experience purchasing glasses! The sales person, Vivian was awesome and patient with me and helped me make sure I was getting the best of the deals offered to me. Oh and how could I forget Jennifer, the lab tech. Super helpful and friendly and went above and beyond with making sure my glasses were exactly how I pictured them! Also, very very friendly to my son which is super important with young kids in the store it makes things soooo much easier when you're trying to shop for something important and people like Jen make sure your little one feels included in the process. Lens Crafters is not a good company to get your prescription reading glasses. I call there Store Branch and ask for an appointment for my safety glasses and ask the their sales person specifically weather my insurance is accepted they said it to me yes. After waiting for them to open this morning, only to find that my insurance is not accepted.I was told that the person that gave me the information was only retail not a professional. Optometrist side of this business... not the retail... So yesterday I called ahead and then stopped in at this LensCrafter's location to obtain a copy of my prescription as I needed to reorder my Accuvision Oasis contact lenses. I had already checked pricing online from Lens.com and another reputable on line reseller of contact lenses so had their pricing. When I arrived I mentioned that I had called a bit earlier and the office manager had not made a copy of the prescription and didn't even have my file pulled from my previous exam there about 11 months prior. She then made the copy and I mentioned that it was time to reorder a 1 year supply of my 2 week lenses. She asked why I wasn't purchasing them from her, and I replied that if they could be competitive I would place an order. She then quoted me $49/box or $392.00 total. They were not even close to being competitive as Lens.com quoted $267.00 including shipping to my door. She obviously was bent out of shape as I would not place an order with her at that much higher price and she then quipped at me that she would only authorize a 3 month purchase as Lens.com would call her for approval to which I replied; did that really just come out of your mouth? You would have sold me a year's supply if I had given you the order... My prescription is valid through 11/8. I can legally order as much product as I wish up until 11/8 and her input was completely unethical and quite possibly illegal if my prescription was still valid and it was valid. I am writing this review as I am sure that this is her unscrupulous and seedy tactic as she is quite obviously on some sort of commission or incentive to sell product... so disgusting that I don't want to see anyone unsuspectingly being taken advantage of in a similar situation at this LensCrafters location in Salem NH. Broke my eyeglasses and had no backup pair. Had some contacts. Usual eye doctor and shop is near work in Boston. With Covid i saw lenscrafters was open. I called and they set up a repair appt. gentleman let me in for my appointment. Glasses were purchased elsewhere, he said he could try and fix them. I said no worries if it breaks worse, it will be better than my attempt. Gentleman was busy with calls, and folks showing up door for eyeglass repair. Eyewear shops are just one of those types of businesses that you don't review unless you have serious customer service issues or something. I think that's why this place has such bad reviews. I got great help in picking out my frames and was happy with the selection. I have crazy bad eyes with astigmatism and all that so they have to send out for my glasses as expected...they came in in about 4 business days, before the 5-7 day promise...good stuff all around, they do a great job here. read more

I am writing this review based on the retail side of this location, not the doctor side. The doctor side was great and helpful! I thought the retail side was as well. UNTIL they swiped my card twice and i was charged twice in the amount of $300. Ok, i understand mistakes happen. I am not one to complain typically BUT the second payment was ran because of a computer freeze. Instead of trying to figure out if it went through, she swiped my card again. Now, I am going back and forth with the corporate office over $300 because they cannot refund me the money they took like any normal establishment. I am very confused by this! The payment cannot be reversed for some bizarre reason... Anyways ... if you go to this location, make sure no one swipes your card twice because it's a headache and a half trying to get your money back even though it was THEIR mistake! UGH! read more

This is a customer service issue. I ordered a pair of eyeglasses and a pair of sunglasses, different frames. When they came in, they were both in the sunglasses frame, so they had to reorder the eyeglasses. They did nothing to compensate me for my extra trip to the store. I felt they should give me the pair of eyeglasses in the wrong frame. What were they going to do with that pair? Throw it in the trash? They didn't have an answer for that, just that they couldn't give me the mistake glasses. I understand businesses make mistakes. It's how they correct them that determines repeat business. I'd give ZERO stars if I could. Been going to the Salem Lenscrafters (next to Market basket) for literally decades (when Dr Fogarty was the eye doc), but after this last experience, I will NEVER go back. Due to covid & other health issues, it's been awhile since i had my eyeglass rx updated & I desperately needed new glasses. The dr who took over Fogarty's office did not take my ins, so I paid out of pocket for the exam. I found the dr to be arrogant & he seemed to care more about selling me eye wash than about my new rx. In the good old days, LC would make you glasses in an hour in their in-house lab. Now they send it out & it takes 2 weeks, only to get back crappy eyeglasses that you cant see out of. They tried THREE x to make me a pair of glasses that I could see out of...all fails. My vision was blurry, distorted, warped...felt like i was looking thru a fishbowl or funhouse mirror. The supposed vision experts on the sales floor didnt even take measurements to make sure the glasses were centered correctly. When pair after pair was wrong, both the doc & staff seemed to want to blame me & say my rx had changed too much. Also, once it became clear that I would be a challenging patient for the eye doc (I kept asking him to tweek the prescription & try bifocals or progressive lenses), he became hostile to me. Also, in case anyone reading this thinks im just a difficult customer, nope. On my 2nd visit there ANOTHER customer was sitting beside me at the counter & she was also complaining that she couldnt see out of her glasses either! She described the same effect I was having...distorted funhouse mirror. I think LC sold out to another company & the quality of their lenses has gone wayyyyy downhill. The frames are BEYOND exorbitant... $300-$500 for some of the frames I was looking at! After they screwed up the 3rd pair, BOTH the eye doc & one of the supposed managers of the LC store basically washed their hands of me. Told me they would not make me any more glasses & literally told me to go elsewhere. I can understand a company cant just make umpteen pairs of glasses over & over...however, I dealt with TWO different store managers who BOTH promised me (after they screwed up pair #2) that they would work with me & do whatever it takes to get me glasses I could see out of. I specifically ASKED how many times they could remake the glasses & they both repeatedly told me not to worry. They BOTH LIED to my face. Then blamed it on company policy. If company policy is that you can only make 3 pairs, then why wasnt I told that? Esp after I ASKED? Because obviously the company sucks & only cares about sales NOT patient's eyesight, & those "eye specialists" helping fit you for glasses were probably only trained last week...not to know about patient care but to SELL. Altho I got a full refund for the glasses they made, I'm still out $100 for the eye exam I paid. I highly do NOT recommend anyone go to this facility, esp if you have any kind of tricky prescription. They literally do not care about you & will LIE LIE LIE just to sell you the most expensive eyeglasses they can, even if you cant see out of them & then they'll blame you for being difficult! read more

My insurance recently changed and I had to switch to a doctor that would accept it. When I called to make my appointment the receptionist helped me find a date that would fix my schedule and it was a pain but she did not rush me or have any kind of attitude like some would. I was able to get an appointment soon after. When I went in for my appointment I was greeted immediately by the LensCrafters staff who pointed me in the direction of the doctors office the two woman at the desk were very nice and got me started with my exam almost immediately even though I was a tad bit early. The doctor was fantastic and helped me sort through my mess of different glasses which pair was for what (I had 4 pairs) she did not try and rush me and answered all my questions. Extremely thorough exam! The young girl At the front desk was very helpful explaining my insurance and my new benefits. GREAT experience on the doctors side. The LensCrafters store was a little busy and understaffed which cannot be blamed on anyone. They did alternate with each customer making sure everyone was finding what they needed and all questions were answered. Although I did not purchase from them I would absolutely recommend them to a family member or friend. Overall great experience from the moment I called until I walked out the door. read more

I went into this location with my boyfriend to look at frames for him, but was also in the market for a new eye doctor, having just got new insurance. I spoke first with someone in the glasses department who was able to locate my insurance information since I hadn't received my cards yet, and she was able to tell me whether I was covered there and what my copays would be. They did the same in the doctor's office portion. I made an appointment for two days later (a Saturday). When I came in on Saturday they were swamped, but I got in and out in a timely manner, and Dr. Bergeron was thorough and personable. After I was finished with my eye exam I was assisted with picking out frames. I had been looking at them online, and I told the associate (I regrettably didn't catch her name) assisting me that I liked a pair of blue Dolce and Gabana lenses I had seen on the site. She told me she knew exactly what I was talking about and found them immediately. I wasn't certain if they were the ones I wanted so she asked me what about them I wasn't sure of, and found me several other pairs to try to compare, giving me an honest opinion about each one. In the end I decided to go with the original frames, and she was able to process the sale quickly and easily, telling me they'd be done the next day at open. The reason why I removed one star was that when I arrived to pick them up the next day they weren't ready yet. The associate that I spoke with first told me that she didn't know why anyone would have told me they'd be ready and that it would take at least an hour for them to be finsihed. I told her I didn't have an hour to wait, and had driven 40 minutes to get there so coming back later wasn't really an option. I must have raised my voice, because the manager came over to speak with me and then spoke with the lens department and told me I could have them in 30 minutes which was acceptable to me. I came back 30 minutes later and did the final fitting with the associate who helped me choose my frames and she was equally good at adjusting them. I would like to put a complaint how I was treated by Andrea in Brenda Forgarty Associates office . I understand that my last appointment there was in 2014. I called this morning to ask to speak to Brenda Forgarty personally because during the week I called and was told to call on Saturday that she would be in the office. When I called I got Andrea the person on the other end very rude and not very customer service friendly ! She didn't even let me explain kept speaking over me ! Finally i told her you're not letting me speak and had to get rude back and tell her I wanted to speak to Brenda in person not her ! After she had told me I can't offer you a sample pair sorry ! I told her I had seen Brenda a few weeks ago and she had offered me a pair of sample at that time so this is why I'm calling to see if I can get a sample pair until my flex spending kicks in July . After a back and forth with her she says Brenda is only here until noon and is busy with appointments so I'll get your number and ask her to call you ! Yah right ! the way she treated me on the phone I doubt she'll give Dr Forgarty the message so she can call me before she leaves by noon today ! I hope I'm wrong but I doubt very much Andrea will be kind enough to give her the message in time for her to get back to me today ! How can someone be so rude and inconsiderate for a customer that's been going there for a long time ! Andrea should go find a job where she does not deal with customers because she is not a very pleasant person to deal with customer service !! It only takes a few minutes to call the customer especially the receptionist are always multi tasking and she knew this was important to me !! I went to this Lenscrafters for an eye exam I had scheduled 2 days in advance. The exam took an hour and fifty minutes to my dismay. I must credit the optometrist's time management skills because she was able to spend 45 min waiting on another patient while my eyes dilated (normally the wait time should be at or under 20 min). I feel this far from professional and their complete disregard for my time has lost them any future business from me. on october 9 i went for an eye exam at the salem nh lenscrafters. On my new patient paperwork i filled out I had conjucntival melonoma. (eye cancer) Dr Bergeron proceeded to give me an eye exam unlike I have experienced at any eye glass place i have ever gone to before. I asked if this extensive exam was because of what i wrote on my chart. she said no this is what I do. I normally go to Wills Eye Institute in Philadelphia for check ups. I felt with her I was getting a thorough examination very similar to what i receive in Philadelphia. Unfortunately during this exam I was told my cancer had reoccurred. But it was a blessing for me. 30 days earlier I was at Lahey clinic and after sitting with an eye specialist there for 5 mins there was no sign of cancer. maybe if that doctor spent a little more time with me like Dr. Bergeron I would be going to a cancer specialist sooner. If it wasnt for Dr. Bergeron and the information she provided my primary physician I would not be going to the number one eye cancer hospital in the country Bascom Palmer eye Institute of miami florida. I had an eye exam and got glasses last week at the Lenscrafters store and was very pleased!! The glasses I purchased look great and my prescription was perfect. I have had a couple experiences at Lenscrafters locations that were only so-so and this one made me change my mind about the store. Retail associates there were great and I have to say I also loved the doctor and the staff in the office with her, not sure about the reviews I saw here that were negative, I would absolutely disagree. can't recommend them enough! read more

Don't waste your time or money here! Terrible customer service! I paid $475 in advance for a pair of glasses that never came in. I was told they would be ready in 5-7 business days. I patiently waited over two weeks for the glasses then started to call repeatedly to find their whereabouts. Finally, someone looked into it. I was told the lenses didn't pass inspection and it would be an additional 5-7 business days on top of the already two weeks I waited! I was disgusted and asked for a refund over the phone to save me the trip in. They refused and made me drive all the way there to process the refund on my credit card. They were rude and arrogant. NEVER AGAIN! My mother has also had to return two pairs of glasses in the past because the lenses were defective. They are so incompetent! read more

As I walked into the store, I was met at the door by a friendly, professional, helpful lady named Sarah Janelle. I planned on buying one pair of glasses, and had listed frames I was interested in seeing after searching onthe Lenscrafters website. Sarah Janelle took my list and found my frames. She went out of her way to make sure I was well taken care of. I ended up buying 2 pairs of glasses that I am very happy with. Sarah went above and beyond to make sure I had an excellent experience buying glasses at Lenscrafters. I highly recommend this store if Sarah Janelle is your sales consultant! read more
