The office only covered the cost of one set of replacement lenses, even though the prescription was still incorrect and prisms could have been included from the beginning. When I raised my concerns, their response was: "Maybe Walmart will have cheaper lenses." That was unprofessional and dismissive. I won't be returning.

However, in July 2025 Dr Renee Lynch gave me a prescription. I ordered glasses online from glassesusa. Result: bad right lens. Eyesight optitian verified lens was correct. Rescheduled with Dr Lynch however, appointment not needed because online chat bot implied Dr Lynch put the wrong number in the Axis for right eye and they would give me a new prescription. I got new July '25 prescription with correct Axis for distance. When I asked for the Progressive version of the same prescription they gave me a copy of the prescription that dr Lynch did back in 2024. After communicating with them to get this situation corrected I suspect that their voice mail to chat log system is a cumbersome, impersonal obstacle to good communication. And for the past two days when I press 7 on their answering machine it goes back to the beginning menu. I suspect that the eyesight of the Eyesight CEO needs to be refocused. A simple apology from Dr Lynch would be a good place to start.

Up until 2 weeks ago, I would have never thought of going to Walmart for vision issues. I ranked it right up there as if they had surgeons on staff (would you go get your appendix out at a place like this). I was completely wrong. This office has just about the same modern equipment as my previous optometrist minus the very expensive Opto-map. Initially you sit down and get checked for glaucoma, initial prescription measurement and some other device. In the main room, he broke out all the fun stuff from the funky eyeglasses to a huge assortment of headgear, lights, hand held lenses and charts. Overall I was in the office for over a half hour. This visit was way longer than my previous doctor. What was nice is that he explained every step he was doing. Overall, I felt as though I received more than I paid for. Excellent! I know for a fact that every aspect, angles, inside/outside of my eyes were checked. Wow. I never left any previous doctor with this feeling before. The outside staff is a bit bland on their customer interaction but guess what, I kind of liked it. No hand holding, hovering, forcing you to buy the most expensive stuff. He pushed the script to me and began to process my initial contact order. I had to ask him to buy glasses on top. Nice! NO Pressure! Overall the pricing is excellent. Copay, contact fitting, 1 pair of titanium, transitions, full scratch/glare protection, another pair of Safety Prescription glasses and disposable contacts for....$680. I don't know about you but if you go to some doc's that is the cost of 1 pair! I think I paid 500 bucks for my previous pair of glasses. Thank you WalMart. I will be going to your Vision Centers from now on. You helped me realize how much the markup is on glasses. Opto-map? Quick comment. It's a costly machine which takes a picture of your retina for the doc to scan on a PC's display. Much hype but insurance usually doesn't cover it. This doc uses light and lenses to peer into your eye and inspect the retina. Same thing, old school. WORD!

Walmart Vision Center is the best! Best customer service, best prescription glasses and they have a great selection of frames. I need bi-focals, and the glasses I get from Walmart have the reading portion perfectly placed. No thought involved when I need to see something close up. The competitor? Went back to them 3 times for them to correct them and ended up throwing them in the trash and coming back to Walmart. Oh, and did I mention great prices? That too.

They were loved by the community and their customer care was impeccable. Tommy could deal with anyone... even a few crabby dissatisfied customers but he was ALWAYS able to work with EVERYONE and he always took the high road. These reviews were well earned by HIM. The establishment was bought out by Christina and Enrico Palmerino several years ago now. They also own several other local Optical shops.. one is in Brooklyn New York. Since they took over in Newburyport the new business has received only 4 yelp reviews... 2 (5) star reviews and 2 (1) star reviews. Where I am from this is a significant red flag showing that this business needs improvement. It is also sad that Chrisina and Enrico did not wipe out Tommy's reviews because he and Dianne and several other employees worked very hard for those reviews! They should not be inherited they should be earned! My experience with the new owners has been rocky and unpleasant. The acting manager Clark Goodwin is a big part of the problem here at this business. Clark is moody, dismissive and he talks down to good customers. I returned 2 pairs of high end glasses three years ago and he was livid with me and he behaved unprofessionally towards me. Clark Goodwin sadly is the antithesis of what Tommy Collins was! I want to warn ALL of my disabled veteran friends , my healthcare friends ( retired RN here) and all the wonderful seniors in the area to take your business somewhere else. This company has no heart... they are a family of millionaires who could care less about customers and providing quality services to the residents of Newburyport.
