We needed a place that accepted our vision insurance, provided eye exams, and offers a large variety of eyeglass frames. Staff are professional and very helpful. Satisfied with the vision exam. Love the large selection of eyeglass frames. Loved that they had name brand frames! They also had frames for wider faces. The only complaint is that Eyeglass World doesn't have frame cases for most of their frames they sell. Instead, they give out cheap, clear, plastic eyeglass frame cases with those that don't have cases from the original manufacturer of the frame. Otherwise, our family is generally happy with their services and frame selection.

Horrible experience! I first visited the store on November 6 to be seen for progressive lenses…read more When I received the glasses, the measurement was so off that I could not see out of them. Despite not being able to see, the store manager, Lisa, told me I needed to wear them for two weeks before the optometrist would see me again. After the required two-week period (sick and nauseous from being dizzy from glasses), I returned and saw the optometrist. Despite my complaints, the prescription remained unchanged. I was measured again for progressive lenses and received a second pair about two weeks later. The measurement was still incorrect. I had to wear them down my nose for another two weeks just to see anything at all. I returned to the store and asked them to contact the El Dorado Hills location, as I had previously been able to see at least partially from my old prescription from 2 years ago. At this point, I was warned this would be the last time they would remake my glasses, despite ongoing issues caused by incorrect measurements and prescriptions. I asked them to return to my previous El Dorado Hills prescription. I was also remeasured for progressive lenses by another employee, who finally appeared to measure the progressive placement correctly. In January, I received glasses made using my old prescription. Unfortunately, I was reminded why I came in the first place--I still cannot see clearly through the right lens. I then went to Kaiser for a second opinion. Their optometrist determined that the prescription from your store was completely incorrect. My right eye needed a stronger prescription, yet your optometrist had reduced it in both eyes. Kaiser demonstrated the difference using test lenses, and the clarity difference was significant. Throughout this process, I repeatedly complained to Lisa. Rather than help resolve the situation, she lectured me and repeatedly blamed me, saying the prescription was "what I saw in the chair." At Kaiser, however, I observed a different, more accurate result. Lisa repeatedly emphasized her professionalism and the seriousness with which she takes her job, yet she was rude and condescending in most of our interactions. Your staff measured me incorrectly twice, and when I needed lenses made a third time, I was told they were doing me a favor. This is unacceptable. I strongly believe the equipment or procedures at this location are faulty. I am now left with a $500 pair of glasses that I cannot see out of, even after insurance.

I actually decided to come here since I had a poor experience with another local optometry office's staff. The layout of the optical area is very organized and clean. The staff were very friendly and efficient. They did call me a day in advance to confirm my appointment and to remind me to bring my glasses and contacts. They also did call me a week prior to confirm my insurance. Once I got there, they had me fill out a form regarding my health. Thereafter, the optometrist, Dr. Jennie Nguyen, saw me. She was very friendly, patient, thorough in her exam, and made sure my questions were answered. Unfortunately, you cannot pay with your Target card for copay, but you can use it for purchase of your glasses or contacts! It's pretty cool they have a range of brands for glasses, including the Target brand, A New Day. The staff didn't pressure me to purchase anything the same day, and were patient in explaining to me my insurance's optical benefits. In fact, it might have just encouraged me to come back and purchase from them. Overall, I was very happy with my experience and I would highly recommend!

Decided to give Target Optical a try since it's down the street from my house. My experience was so unsatisfactory, I am willing to pay out of pocket for another exam elsewhere. I showed up 15 min before appt time and it wasn't even open yet. I like to come early to appointments in case there is paper work to fill out. Anyway, I'd just like to say that as soon as I was taken back to get my exam it just went downhill. I swear I heard the Dr huffing and puffing if I didn't have a fast enough response to "1 or 2" "3 or 4" when she didn't even repeat the process enough for me to decide which looked clearer to me. And then after giving me the trial pair of contacts and then doing the vision test, I couldn't see out of my left eye, and when I said that it was really blurry, her response with a bit of sass was, "I'm pretty sure I got the right prescription, but I'll go get another one". I mean, what? Then she said that I could possibly be losing a little vision in one of my eyes and that I have glaucoma and should get it checked. Well, I have always gotten a yearly exam with an optometrist as well as an opthalmologist due to my risk of possibly getting glaucoma. Her "results" were quite extreme compared to what I've been told in years past. Especially since nothing tragic has happened to me since getting checked. I felt so rushed out of my appointment and left feeling like, "what just happened here?". I told my family not to bother even making an appointment here because it's not worth it. If you read all the way here, thank you. PS it wasn't the named doctor that saw me. It was a different lady not Dr Nguyen.

Not exactly the welcoming vibe you'd want from an eye care office. During my appointment, I explained my vision issues in detail to Vanessa Games Luna, including the fact that I've been a welder for over 20 years and have significant sensitivity to bright light. I was told clearly that it wouldn't be a problem and that the documentation would be typed up and sent to my email. Based on that, I left expecting follow-through. Nearly two weeks went by with no communication. I had to call and follow up myself, only to be told that they actually cannot provide that documentation. This was frustrating, especially since I was initially told the opposite with confidence. The lack of follow-through and inconsistent information wasted my time and left me disappointed. Last year, I learned that the optometrists who had run the location for many years had retired. It seems like things really began to change around the time VSP took over. Unfortunately, as others have noted in their reviews, the customer service is now lacking and just doesn't have the same welcoming, personal feel it once did. I saw Dr. Staples during my most recent visit last year. I found her somewhat rude and unfriendly at the beginning of the appointment, although she did soften up as the visit went on, which I appreciated. After being a patient here for nearly 30 years, I've decided that will be my last year. I'll be going to Kaiser instead, where my experience with both the customer service and the doctor I met was much more pleasant. It's unfortunate to leave a place I've been going to since 1997, but ultimately, I prefer to give my business to a place where I feel welcomed and valued as a customer.
