Terrible slow and unorganized. They are insensitive to the time that you've spent waiting and some of there representative are unfamiliar with their program and process. Also apparently there was a nation wide mandatory mark up increase with their Ralph Lauren frames which increases the cost of my insurance that was quoted $50 up 20%. The staff is there to sell, not help. Don't confuse the two. I called first to verify insurance. They said they could take it. When I arrived they didn't verify my insurance before hurrying me off to do the exam. Ater the exam they sat me down with a commissioned staffer that was more interested in the sale than my needs. They then told me that my insurance wouldn't cover it because I had a vision service plan they should have determined this before the exam. Now I have to try and get part of the exam reimbursed and have since purchased frames and lenses at a local place in Pacific Grove. read more

I went in today after making an appointment. I was a little hesitant due to the bad reviews but I was hopeful. I'm glad I went through and made my appointment here. Everything went by smoothly. I was assisted as soon as I walked in. So genes some routine paperwork. I had scheduled an eye exam for a prescription for contacts and glasses. Dr. David Oebker was great! I had an amazing speedy appointment. He was super nice and made me feel very comfortable. He was so helpful and explained everything to me. I'll be coming back for a follow up visit. I'm glad I was able to have such a great experience. I ended up paying $149. Not too bad...I was quoted a little more. I payed cash, no insurance. If you call around its about the same price everywhere so no biggie. I'm just glad the bad reviews proved me wrong and everything went well. I definitely recommend Dr. Oebker. read more

A little over two years ago, I got a pair of glasses (lenses and frame) from this business, which cost me about $450, after they applied a coupon I happened to have. You would think that for this amount of money, you would have glasses that will last for a while. Well, a couple of weeks ago I noticed that the special coating on the lenses started cracking and bubbling up, so I went to the Del Monte store to have them repaired or replaced. Once there, I was informed (after a 30-minute wait) that the lenses could not be repaired, and that I would have to buy new lenses since I had not purchased any insurance. The technician told us that she was not authorized to give us a break, but promised that we would get a call from the store manager who may be able to give us a discount. Eventually the manager did call, and informed me right off the bat that I was lucky that the lenses lasted two years, because the typical life cycle for them was 18 months! Nevertheless she "graciously" offered a 50% discount if we brought in a prescription. I did so, only to learn that WITH the discount I would still have to pay over $350 dollars because the actual cost of the lenses was $700+! At that point i decided that I had enough of these people, and took my prescription to good old COSTCO, where I received service within minutes, and was able to get the lenses I needed for $200. No discounts, no gimmicks, no BS, just good customer service and product quality. Take my advice, and avoid LensCrafters like the plague! read more

(This review is from my wife) Although Lens Crafters as a whole does good business in other areas of the nation, this specific one at Del Monte Center is a JOKE. Every time I come here they are way UNDERSTAFFED, or they don't have your glasses ready even though you got a call to say they were ready. What's even more frustrating is that they have no sign in method at the front desk. It's a free for all, so someone who was behind you might get service before you depending on who's paying attention. FIGURE IT OUT!! It's simple, have people sign in, so that they are seen in order. I had to go here to get my glasses updated, as well as get more contacts and everyone was extremely nice and helpful. The doctor on Sunday was AWESOME because I felt he was actually trying to help me, versus just wanting me to move along to get to his next task. I had doctors there before who seemed to just not be that helpful or when I was getting my exam, and didnt answer right away what slide was better, the person would just quickly skip to the next slide, which really bugged me..but this doctor was the complete opposite. :) overall I had a great experience read more

I took my daughter yesterday to find glasses for her, we were greeted upon entering the business and they told us if we needed anything to let them know. I like to look first and then ask questions, the associates let us roam around looking for a frame but from time to time came to ask us if everything was ok. Finally my daughter found a really nice frame at a very affordable price. A young woman help us, she was very friendly and efficient and a process that usually takes an hour was done in 15 minutes. Never had a problem coming to this Monterey location.. wish I would have waited till I was home to go to my usual location. The associates were super rude. The lady who sat with me didn't even listen to my concerns.. she started my glasses without an okay from me and then got sassy with me when I told her I didn't want to use the frames afterall. I have been here a total of three times already and while my first trip here I didn't have any issues, my second and third trips weren't so great. My first trip was merely to buy a some new frames and lenses, which went relatively smoothly. However, on my trip to pick them up, the workers were apparently faced with some sort of difficulty. The first woman to help me was rude and made it obvious she did not want to be there, and she spent more time trying to find somebody else to take care of me rather than just handing me my glasses. Should not have been that big of an issue and should not have wasted so much time on such a simple task. Also, I had asked if my glasses could be adjusted and was informed that they could not do that. However, I recently witnessed another man having his glasses adjusted. I put up with unfit and uncomfortable glasses for 2-3 weeks! My third, and current trip, has been utterly awful. I am currently sitting in the lobby, and have been waiting for 2 hours now, just for them to switch my lenses from polycarbonate to high index, when I was only told it would take no more than an hour. This is after having been called by them, informing me that they were ready! They have 3 workers currently and haven't been doing much and the phone continues to ring. Listening to them deal with other customers shows just how horrible their service is. Can't say I will be returning here often, if at all. read more

Don't use LensCrafters unless you like overpaying. I checked out pricing for some new progressive bifocals. I picked out a pair of Rayban frames, $150, after lenses the total came to $950. After my insurance copay, the balance was $650. We recently purchased a Costco membership so I checked there too. With the same price range frames (Tom Ford $130) the total was $300 and only $110 after using insurance. What? Buy yourself a Costco membership and avoid LensCrafters read more

I called this morning for an appointment, got an appointment at 5pm the same day, and by the time I drove home after my appointment they had already texted saying my glasses were ready. Amazing! I have used Monterey's LensCrafters numerous times and have nothing bad to say about my experiences there. The optometrist is friendly and does a nice job. Depending on the type of lens, it can take a week to get the glasses at times. However for a simple lens, I was able to walk in yesterday afternoon, and they were ready for me two hours later. read more

Four words: Do not go there. Very poor customer service. I was disappointed by how they treat their clients once they have closed the deal. They lured me into some obscure zero-interest plan after collecting my insurance information. Two months later, I get a bill for the purchase, so that, in fact they never contacted my insurance. When I tried to call them to have the payment done by the insurance, they ask me to go back to their store. When I get there, they tell me that they can't arrange the insurance payment because it has already gone through the other agency, the GE money bank and that they are not responsible for the purchase anymore. Result: I have to pay myself, can't get the reimbursement to go through, because now I have established credit with their agency. What kind of customer service is that? read more

I can't believe a place this disorganized is still in business. Don't expect your appointment to start or end at anywhere near the time they told you it would, and don't expect them to keep records of any sort from one appointment to the next. If you want something done (e.g., contacts ordered after you evaluate the trial pair) you're going to have to keep all the records concerning your prescription, the type of contacts, any promotions you were offered in your quote, etc, because they're not going to do that. They write down and tell me one time then I show up and it's another, or they don't call me and tell me when my contacts are in and after waiting several weeks and they won't fit me in for a quick contact fitting (After not calling). This time they did nothing to help, one lady told me they had later appointments, I went out canceled all my plans to get the later appointment and then the guy working said they had nothing available 5 mins after the lady said they did. Outstanding service from staff and Dr. Baknatary. I'm sorry I don't remember the technician's name ((Cashier #513574). She worked quickly and was amazingly helpful, fitting glasses, making sure bifocals and computer glasses were just right, giving discounts when possible and always friendly even though she was VERY busy. I had read the reviews here and almost didn't go due to the negative reviews I saw. So, while not a Yelper, I thought it important to tell a different story here. A+ staff and A+ experience. Walked in and got eye exam and three new pairs of glasses (all with complex prescriptions) in about an hour. That is ROCK STAR stuff. Bravo! read more

It seems like everytime I come here, I end up waiting at least half an hour for an appointment. I miss the time when you were able to enter the eye doctors section and be greeted by their staff - not the Lenscrafters staff. Even though they were alway combined, EyeExam2000 had their own staff for all the reception, prescreening (eye testing) and billing. Now you have to work with someone from the glasses side. It's not so bad if they are empty. But usually they are working with someone and their glasses and that means you have to wait until they are done just to schedule another appointment or pay... It just is poor customer service. Oh.. And for some reason, one of the two doors is always locked - even though there is a sign above the door that states the doors must remain unlocked during business hours. The new Doctor that is there, is great. She is very friendly and helpful. She has gone out of her way to help me with something. I greatly appreciate her.. But PLEASE work on the Lenscrafters staff!!! read more

If you come from out of town, forget spending precious, vacation time buying glasses here. I spent quite a while hunting down sunglasses and was delighted to find something I liked. We waited 20+ minutes to get help. I was asked if I needed to pay for the frame first. The answer was "no". I found out the glasses could be held for 3 days. I needed a prescription from my home town to be faxed, and it eventually made it through a week of an up and down fax machine at Lenscrafters. I understand the fax machine was down, but I should have had a call before the frames went back out for display. I made several calls to stay up on the order. The most recent problem was that the computer was down. After that, I decided to just go back to Lenscrafters and see what was going on. Site for Sore Eyes is an efficient company, and the girl worked hard to get my prescription to Lenscrafters with no avail. Yes, my frames were put back, lost and gone. Plus, there was no evidence of my these glasses in the computer, call back......it was like I never was there. Two times going in there, it was easy to see there were not enough sales people to help with the customers in the store. One that came in later, said he was from another store and that was zero help! This is the worst LensCrafters I have ever been to and the worst experience I have ever had getting glasses in 36 years of wearing them. My exam was ok, they were a little slow helping me get my glasses ordered but not too bad, and I got my sunglasses the next day as promised. To get my progressives, which usually takes 1-2 weeks, I was told 2 weeks. I called after 2 weeks and was told they might be there in 2 days. I called a week later. They were not in. They could not tell me why. I complained to LensCrafters customer service and they called the owner, Bruce. I still did not hear anything. Bruce called 5 days later to say "Your lenses are in. Bring your frames." I called him back and said I didn't order lenses, I ordered glasses with frames. He seemed flustered and like he didn't know what was going on. Then he said, ok I'll get them in the lenses and call you. I asked why it had taken almost 4 weeks to get them and he said the lab in Knoxville didn't have the frames in their computer and didn't tell them until they'd had the order for 3 weeks then they sent them to Columbus and got them. He wasn't going to have explained anything until I pushed for an answer. Finally, 6 days after that conversation, I called again and was told they were ready. When were they going to have gotten back to me? It's been over a month. I am never going to LensCrafters again. read more

One week too busy couldn't help me . I setup an appointment happy to get new glasses. I have been going to LensCrafters since the early 90's in Del Monte center . For a five year. I went to the LensCrafters in Salinas . Only to get glasses I have to return twice when they made them they were the incorrect lenses. So here I am back with an appointment and happy to get new glasses. When I arrived I was told immediately we are short staffed can you wait. I told them I had a 11 o'clock appointment for an eye exam and new glasses after filling out my paperwork. They could not find my insurance and immediately told me you have to pay for the eye exam. I said I pay insurance every month could you please double check. I will call work to get more information if needed!. The to of the desk announce to me that they could not interrupt the doctors schedule that I could come back at 2 o'clock or tomorrow. My reply was can I double check work so you can find the insurance. Again they told me pay cash now or come back my reply!! I'm not paying for Insurance year by year . Not to use it if you give me a few minutes I will call work the HR department will help me they said it was too late would you like to come back tomorrow. This all took place in about a 25 minute. Meanwhile they returned four people away while I was there. Avoid buying your contact lenses here. Both my orders have been screwed up. First one came after four weeks. Last one has been seven weeks and still waiting! You will not get any calls from LensCrafters if your order (or parts of it) has arrived, it is entirely up to you to check once a week, expect to be put on long hold. Expect that your order is lost and that you have to repeat name, phone number and what you ordered and have already paid for, several times every time you call. You see, LensCrafters is in a "transition right now" which seems to go on forever, so that's why the orders are f... Up. If you have an alternative, take it! read more
