LensCrafters has the reputation of being one of the best places to get an eye exam and glasses. I had high hopes but was sadly disappointed by both the eye exam and the sales person in the eyewear section. The optometrists at this location are independent from lens crafters-so they bill separately and May not be covered by many insurances. Mine didn't cover-fine no problem I'll pay out of pocket for the eye exam. They kept saying the copay is $140, that's what I paid and was charged but the optometrist also mentioned billing my medical insurance and I'd pay the rest-wait what! He mentioned this HALFWAY through my exam-so now I have no idea if I have an additional bill coming in the mail. I felt my exam was rushed and I do believe it was because there were other people waiting and they were behind on appointments (mine was scheduled for 4 and I wasn't seen until 4:30). The eyewear section did take my insurance but the sales person couldn't explain to me in the itemized breakdown of my glasses estimate what was covered or not-one way I would have paid $45 out of pocket, another $230! He couldn't explain to me the reason for the price difference and just kept tapping at his iPad screen toggling stuff. He lost a sale-I had already looked at frames the day before and had two I planned on purchasing-but if you can't explain to me what I'm paying for-I'll go somewhere else. U am giving this 2 stars due to availability of my glasses. They advertise in about an hour and that was true years ago then it went to 24 hours, then to about week. Now it is over 2-weeks. Although service in house is great the delivery wait time is awful and their advertising is very mis-leading current state. If I could leave no stars I would, went in for a eye exam and walked in no greeting which was fine. Got my eye exam wasn't told a price or extra fees they were planning on charging me before the exam. So of course I'm thinking it's all normal as usual my insurance would cover. When I was done the dr told me I owed 140 something because he "fitted" me for contacts. Which sure I understand that's a cost now but it was never before when I went. And I'm explaining to the dr and he was so rude and I honestly felt kinda bullied by the dr and employees. My wife an I was very disappointed today with our visit to this Lens Crafters. We waited 15 minutes before someone came over to ask if we need help. This women obviously didn't want to over but was told to come over by her manager. She was extremely rude, preferring to eat her lunch, than be cordial. In the end, she refused to help us review glasses, pricing, and my VSP benefit. She did not look at us directly when speaking to us, and was annoyed that she had to spend some of her break helping customers. Review for the Eye Dr. 0 stars. I have always used Lens Crafters in another state and no problems at all. I recently went for eye exam here in Leominster and it was the worst!!! I felt rushed and not able to answer the drs questions without him jumping to the next question. It was very stressful. He did not do a full exam long story short. I did not feel confident with his prescription and I went for a 2nd opinion which confirmed my first impression that Dr here at Lens crafters is a quack. Horrible! There's no need to go there to get glasses and them to tell you, "it will take two weeks." Okay fine. But yet when you get home they say it's already there. That does NOT sound like two weeks - that's more like, "one hour." What's their excuse they give? "We didn't know we had them in stock." - do you seriously not look what's in stock or not??? Let's now fast forward a week later... To pick them up. 3 people in doctor's office, one older lady looking for glasses, and another older guy getting glasses. Takes 10 minutes to go in and another 20min for one lady to look at your glasses. What's the other two associate's doing? One is cleaning glasses and the other guy gives excuses as he's day dreaming. This is for the Drs side of the business - since it is all separate now! Receptionist for eye dr - lazy Receptionist for eye dr - rude Just sits there while the dr runs around crazy. They book In 20 min increments. The actual appt is 30mins+. So you wait, and wait, and wait. Also, each visit is a separate charge. Not like the old days where you paid to go see the eye dr and they took care of everything. To get your eyes checked is a fee. To get fitted for contacts a separate fee. Then you have to pay for your glasses which is no longer same day! Coming from the service industry where my clients are my lifeline - this is pure retail. Turn and burn. Worse place, I needed new replacement lens for my eye? So I figured there around the corner, I almost shit my pants when they quoted $800 dollars for my lens, I told them I think about it, the guy was annoyed? Really. So I drove to Marlbough to the place I always get new glasses, I paid $170. Total, I rather drive the 1/2 hour to a private place than this place anytime. I just went there because they were around the corner, also the guy at the place marked up my glasses and I had to use a chemical to get rid of the marks. You want to save money, don't go here. Some of the most deplorable customer service I've ever received. They had a limit of how many customers could be in the room at a time, which is completely understandable with COVID. That being said, the number of staff outnumbered the number of customers, so you'd think things would move rather smoothly. However, the employees were just chatting, hanging around and not assisting basically anyone. I wasn't even here for the LensCrafters, but the eye doctor inside. He was great, but because of their slack in keeping the flow of customers, I was late for my appointment, even though I was 20 minutes early standing outside. The appointment went well and I liked the doctor. I happened to find a frame I liked and wanted to make a purchase with my new prescription. God forbid, you'd think this would be an easy task being that's LensCrafters' whole business model. There was a problem with my insurance, so we decided to wait a day and see what would happen. They took down some personal information and saved it so they could call me back. I called back the next day and nobody answered the phone. I called again several hours later and it was the same thing. I then called about 5 minutes later with a different phone number and got an answer almost immediately. I was clearly being avoided. I told the woman on the phone my situation, and when she tried finding the info I had left the night before, they lost it! Maybe that was a mistake on my part, but that is extremely irresponsible. They told me to call back later. So I did. This time they gave me a bunch of excuses as to why they couldn't help me buy a simple pair of glasses. Let it be known that this is one of the popular insurances that they seemed very familiar with. My insurance provider even called the store, explained how I am in fact on this insurance plan and they seemed to respond to it. In a following conversation with LensCrafters, however, they said this conversation never happened. Once again they asked for the same information I had already provided for them twice. I've officially given up on this crap location. I try my absolute best to be understanding and compassionate with retail employees as I was one for many years, but this is just taking it to a whole other level of unprofessionalism. Not to mention the ladies working didn't know a damn thing about glasses. Go ANYWHERE else to get glasses. It's a shame because the optometrist is such a nice man and these ignorant employees are apparently making a lot of people stay far away from here. read more

The only reason they got one star is that's all there is. My wife bought a pair of glasses there a year ago December for $800.00. About a month ago one of the ear stems broke off. She went to the store today (she travels a lot for work and wasn't able to get there sooner) and was told her warranty ran out in December. When she questioned the employee about it she was told, "it happens". My wife asked if they still carried them and if they were known to brake. The woman said she didn't know if they still carried them, but that they break all the time. My wife said, well maybe you shouldn't carry them, and that she would never buy anything there again. First time visiting the store and I'm very unhappy with the service. We got greeted but I had to ask twice for assistance. There was even a couple that came a few minutes after us but got served before us. At first I thought oh maybe I'm wrong, maybe they aren't servicing that couple but once I notice they actually were, my face and body language express my distraught and that's when the staff member that helped the couple asked if we were being assisted. My eye exam was great. The doctors are wonderful. The rest of the staff is horrible. The day I got my exam I was told I needed new lenses in my glasses. I couldn't wait at that time, to have them done. I asked if I could come back later and was told sure, be back by 5pm and we can do them. I was back by 4:45, but they left me standing there waiting for 15 minutes before they asked to help me. I was then told the lens people went home and I'd have to come back another day, before 3pm. I went in this morning.... I waited for 15 minutes before someone even acknowledged me. At that point I just demanded a return. They're under staffed, slow, unaware and the women working there are uneducated and arrogant. read more

My son and I entered a busy store where all the staff appeared too busy to even acknowledge our presence. We stopped at the entrance because we weren't sure where to go during the end of COVID pandemic. We stood there at entrance for 15 minutes until someone else arrived wondering if we were waiting and if the staff told us to stand there. I didn't know because there was no customer service. No one standing at a desk. Not happy with horrible customer service. I think the masks think they hide their identity so it doesn't matter. It matters! I wouldn't even give 1 star except this app won't let me get rid of it. Maybe Saturday is a really bad day for the staff they hire. Attitude starts with the management and goes down. NEVER GOING HERE AGAIN! I've had regular eye exams from LensCrafters for the past 5 years or so... I just started a new job so my schedule has been hectic-- I finally get in to get more contacts (my prescription has been the same for the last 10+ years) they wouldn't fill my script! They said eye exams are only good for a year and apparently it's been a year and two weeks! What jerks! What's the point of going to the same place if they are going to treat you like they don't know you?! Bad customer service. Oddly when there are no customers inside, there were 6 staff people milling about. The day I came to order my glasses, there was one staff against three customers. This place has a wide selection of really nothing. Maybe I'm not hip to the current trends. I saw so many overpriced brand named cheap made-in-an-alley eye wear. You never know until you pick up the glasses, how cheap the eyeglass container that comes with it. It's an envelope-style container (flapped) with gaping holes on each side which means that dirt & debris will fall into the container. More disappointment. Asked whether my insurance company was aware of this transaction and she said, "no". Huh?! That means the insurance discount all over the paperwork is FAKE. I'm NOT getting an insurance discount at all. It is a ruse. Why did I mention having insurance at all? They have a nice selection of frames i found more than one pair that i loved. My only complaint is that some of the sales staff seem like they don't know what they're doing and tend to make mistakes. What makes this store so good is the manager Steve he is one of the nicest people I have met. He has such a great personality and will do anything to make the customer happy. Steve is the reason why i gave a five star review. My advice is that if you go here ask for Steve even if you have to wait its worth it. read more

While the staff attempted to help me with a minor repair on my glasses, they appeared oddly uneqipped and extremely incompetent at doing so. Admittedly, these were not glasses I bought from them but they said they would try to fix them anyway (just that they would not be liable if they broke in the process, to which I agreed was fair). I dropped my glasses and the original screw off at 11am and was told it might take 1-2 hours after things had died down in the store to attempt to fix them and that I would be called when they were all set or if they were unable to fix them. To concede, they were a bit busy when I dropped my glasses off and the mall itself was busy that day. After about 2.5 hours I called to see how things were going. While waiting on a staff member to check the progress, I misinterpretted their strange beeping hold line as a disconnected call, so I went to the store in person. I was told (and could see) one of the staff had just begun working on replacing the screw to reattach my glasses arm. Now, I understand that they possibly may have just recovered from a possibly busy morning (note: I was the only one in the store at this point), but the two female staff members appeared to be a bit annoyed with me for politely asking about my glasses. I was told they would call me and I thanked them for trying, walking out awkwardly because they made me feel like a bother. After another hour, I was getting a bit antsy, so I stopped in to see if they were unsuccessful, so I could just then try to take them somewhere else. The female worker behind the counter gave me a weird fake smile and asked if the other worker had called me and I said no, but I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss any call and that I gave them my number correctly. The other worker (who was towards the back of the store) came into view and appeared clearly exasperated and annoyed, saying, "I've got them in my hand, right here. I haven't been able to find a screw for them. I'm still trying." I thanked them and left (the again empty store). Fast forward to close to 4pm when I was called (didn't hear my ringer go off) and left a voice message that said they were unable to find a suitable screw, even with two different people working on it. I quickly went directly to the store and thanked them for trying and picked up my glasses. Upon giving me my glasses back, I was shown that they had put a loose screw into it for some reason, even though it clearly made no sense to do so (not at all functional and wouldn't the next person just have to take it out anyway?). I walked away from there feeling like I had inconvenienced them for something I thought would be simple but they made me believe it was an incredible feat. Fastforward a few minutes and I went to Sears Optical (in the same mall) and the guy there had it fixed in less than 5 minutes (not exaggerating). So, they basically spent an inordinate amount of time (or so they led me to belive) on something that should have taken minutes. Even in the off chance they did something to make it easier to put another screw in (but my glasses pretty much looked exactly the same when I picked them up from LC and it seems like they were just using trial and error with a bunch of screws), why the heck were they giving me so much attitude? I know it's a free service and they get no benefit from it--but it is a free service that THEY provide! Don't want people asking for a free service? Don't offer it! And if you are going to offer it--make sure you can actually do it. I wanted to give a two star rating for their effort, but in all honesty--it does not seem like it should have taken them nearly as long as they claimed they were working on it. "Optician" is clearly just a useless title at this store. read more
