I am very happy with Solinsky Eye Care and have been going there for over two years. All the staff…read moreI met are friendly and Dr. Jeng is always professional and supportive. However, now I feel disappointed this time due to my eye surgery appointment. I have been scheduled for the surgery two weeks ago and was told to use eye drops one day before the surgery. I kept calling three days before the surgery for the eye drop pick up and was always told that someone would contact me. Since tomorrow is the surgery, I am supposed to use the eye drop today. I called again and eventually was told the surgery has to be cancelled due to insurance issues. I asked them why no one told me, especially since I have already planned for two days off from work. They said they did call me several times and left messages. The staff even said they called me at 9:07am this morning. I am home waiting for the call, my phone shows no missed call and no voice mail. I feel upset because I trust Solinsky. It is understandable for whatever reason you have to cancel the surgery, but it is not acceptable for not telling the client ahead of time and make excuses. I hope you understand how frustrating this is.

After all the check ins we were seen by a dr. very quickly they entered his eye with medical tools without much communication regarding what would be happening in those moments. It was FAST. Only some of the fragments were able to with what seemed like some ease. The dr we had needed to then dig around deeper under a different layer in the eye which he stated while as he was pursuing the remaining pieces in the deeper layer. My son felt this and communicated the pain notably to the dr. Unfortunately my son suffers from Vaso Vago Syncope, which we both said at that time and became very light headed lost all his color and stated he felt he was going to pass out. A break was taken and an additional attempt was made to dig deeper shortly after but without success. We were wrapped up pretty quickly from there and told that he would could experience some pain following the wearing off of the numbing drops. We did ask for an additional drop so we could make it home without pain. This was administered because my son stated he was already in that pain. The drop was applied and ointment/sav of antibiotics was given along with an eye patch. A follow up procedure was booked for Friday, two days later, which we haven't attended just yet, its tomorrow. However, my son has deteriorated since then (today is Thursday) he cannot have a single shred of light hit his good eye OR his bad eye. Light to the good eye shoots off pain to the bad eye and it's entire socket. Today we had to complete HIPAA paperwork over text before I could assist him by communicating on his behalf. He did this, barely 5 documents, couldn't see. We attempted together to both speak to a nurse or one of the Dr's there to attempt to communicate all that is being experienced and the pain that he is in at this stage (the night and day after initial procedure - so Thursday). IT IS SHOCKING to spend an entire morning of calling and not being put through to an actual medical professional. Not a staffer at the desk....a nurse or a dr. We were told refutably and undeniably that we would not be able to speak to anyone out side of the people answering the phones in the office at the front desk, that "maybe the Dr would see their messages but it doesn't guarantee a call to us". So we are still waiting for this which doesn't appear to be forthcoming. In the meantime he's deteriorating even more and needed something for pain at this point. Called them again and this time asked for something for pain however we were met with "oh, we don't give pain medication to our patients, the drs are not allowed to prescribe this. We will have to send out a request form to your PCP and you will have to follow up with them". At this point I had to cancel the rest of my clients and drive down to the PCP's office to check out if they sent the form. The staff at our PCP's office seemed to reel in their heads while they themselves were trying to understand how a surgical eye center could perform such and intensive procedure in an office there without being able to support potential repercussions of such procedure without having ability to provide an RX for pain? They gave an RX for antibiotic? The form did ultimately get received and our PCP gave our son something to help ease his pain but what in Gods name is happening here? You can knowingly leave a patient in this position and call it game? I tried to call again to the eye drs. once more a few minutes prior to sharing this information. I wanted to see if now that we have a completed HIPAA if could please speak to a nurse about his current condition or a dr. I was told "NO" "unfortunately, no. We do not have the ability to allow you speak to anyone, there is no one that can do this for you. You do have your appointment in the morning tomorrow here and you can opt to not come but if you do that WE ARE NOT LIABLE so you know, it would be on you" So here we are. In a basement. No communication, no help, no service. Only help from our own PCP who can do nothing more for us. I am not the type AT ALL but a visit to a lawyer will be forthcomin

"Judy in disguise, well that's what you are A lemonade pie…read morewith your brand new car Cantaloupe eyes come to me tonight Judy in disguise, with glasses" (From a 1968 #1 hit by John Fred & His Playboy Band) I've worn glasses ever since I couldn't clearly read the blackboard in second grade. Every time I get a prescription for new glasses I seem to go through the same tedious song and dance about extra charges for this, extra charges for that, reasons why accepting my insurance is a bad idea (because their "Sale specials" are cheaper) etc, etc, ad nauseum. All of that changed today when I walked into the Warby Parker store with a prescription from my eye doctor, and walked out with an order for a new pair of progressive glasses in a spiffy blue/black wire frame for just $395. I interacted with no less than three people - Kate, Adam, and Mark their optometrist. Kate asked me a bunch of questions about my frame preferences and directed me to the frames I wanted, Adam checked my prescription and made sure the frame would accommodate the thickness of my progressive lenses, and Mark took the measurements to be sure the lenses lined up where the center of my eyes were, It was a very pleasant experience. All three of the staff were polite and a pleasure to deal with. Within a few minutes of leaving the store I had already been e-mailed twice. Glasses should be ready the first week of April, and that's pretty darned speedy service!

They told me about the updated anti glare treatment target now has for glasses. They wereslow patient and in-depth in their explanation . I elected to go with the anti glare treatment and transition lenses . I was hoping that my first night drive would be different . The first night the glare was gone but then headlights were bright pin spots By the second night drive my eyes had fully adjusted , the glare was still gone but additionally the headlights were no,longer bright pin spots but just headlights This is not a set it and forget it deal If you maintain a clean windshield If you keep your new glasses clean You will notice a serious change for the better Also the anti glare treatment has to be protected. I asked the technicians to instruct me in proper maintenance of anti glare lenses and they were more than happy to oblige. They told me they had cleaning kits that they sell but they also how to clean the lens perfectly if I didn't have a kit Also the driving during the day with the anti glare lenses is much different in a good way I would rate the improvement as 80 out of a hundred percent in night driving. But you have to keep the lenses and your car windshield clean to get to that level and stay there

The HIPAA violations are numerous, and the distasteful way the desk staff talk about patients when they don't think we are listening are disgusting. 1 out of every 2 visits are fraught with error in both contact order and appointment. When they are good, it's because they are actually doing their job, not going above and beyond to exceed your needs. As I sit and listen to unprofessional staff next to their cheap coffee maker - I've hit my ceiling for ineptitude. I will be making a call to a regulatory body about this. It's sad I have to look for another doctor because this office is convenient. Reasons to come: location and hours are hard to beat. Reasons not to come: unprofessional staff with observed attitude problems. Many appointments not met timely, (sitting an hour past your given time), contact order not shipped to correct address, and then being lied to about it being ordered when they were not. (Waited x2 1/2 weeks, was told they are on the way, and when I came into the office for another visit an honest staff member told me they were never ordered), noted HIPAA violations, as in patient data seen out as well as patient prescription and diagnostic data being printed within the exam room, and very loud probing questions at the desk when the reception area is an inch from it (I really don't need to hear other patient issues, If I wanted gossip I'd choose a different venue), desk staff constantly on their phone, the list can go on.
