eggplant parm sandwich
Kathryn J.

Legitimately one of the best eggplant parm sandwiches I've ever had. Beautiful decor, nice outdoor seating, friendly people, what more could you want?

Happy but not photogenic beautiful place.

Greattttt Lunch, one of the freshest Italian food. First time I didn't give my leftovers to my college kid. Love the Caesar salad, broccoli, wrap, and sausage sandwich grinder with the fresh bread and the olive oil and my son had a grinder meatball sauce was fantastic. Wish I ordered more food. The service was amazing. The owners were in the kitchen cooking sweetest couple I've ever seen clean such a cute area. Wish I stayed more. Could've stayed there for days. Loved it.

Lenoci's Italian Kitchen is an Italian bistro that opened in Wethersfield, Connecticut in September 2020. It was founded by husband and wife Sicilian immigrants Vincenzo "Enzo" and Concettina Lenoci. The couple owned Corner Grinder in Hartford's "Little Italy" for several years. Their newest venture, located in the Old Wethersfield Historic District, features some old classics from their grinder shop as well as some favorites. The menu features Italian deli sandwiches served fresh Italian bread baked in house, pizza (both Neapolitan round-style and Roman square-style), pasta dishes, Italian comfort dishes, soups and salads. My family and I stopped in for luck at Lenoci's Italian Kitchen this past autumn. We were visited Old Wethersfield to see the annual "Scarecrows on Main" displays. Every time we come to Old Wethersfield, we like to try out a new eatery. The place was packed when we stopped in. We had to wait a little bit to get the table. After checking out the menu, I ordered the "Italiano" sandwich (ham, Genoa, salami, capicola, roasted peppers, tomato, mixed greens, provolone cheese, olive oil), my wife ordered the "Chicken Parm" sandwich (breaded chicken cutlet, roasted peppers, marinara, provolone cheese), our older son ordered the "Gnocchi with Burrata", and our younger son ordered the "Cheese Ravioli". Everything was excellent! The sandwiches had great ingredients on some fantastic fresh Italian bread! The pastas tasted so fresh and had great sauces! We definitely enjoyed our visit to Lenoci's Italian Kitchen and hope to return in the future!

"Let me sleep all night In your soul kitchen Warm my mind near your gentle stove" (The Doors) The kitchen, stove, and frying pans at Lenoci's sure do crank out some fantastic food. We love visiting Italian delis and were very happy after our first visit to Lenoci's. The staff was great, friendly and welcoming with smiles all around. They sell seven hot sandwiches, eight cold sandwiches, seven salads, soups, entrees, sides, and nine pizzas in three sizes. We went with two sandwiches - a Sausage and Broccoli Rabe with Italian sausage, sautéed broccoli rabe, provolone cheese, and a Siracusa with roasted eggplant, roasted peppers, and fresh mozzarella. Both were $12.50 and we ate them half at a time, so we ended up with 4 servings for our $26.84. Pretty good value. My broccoli rabe was excellent. Split sausages with a mountain of tender broccoli rabe mounded between them. I tried a bite of the eggplant, and it was perfect -nice and tender and not rubbery or stringy like some eggplant dishes. Also, we both noted how good the bread was - super fresh and soft and delicious. Lenoci's also sells chips and cookies and some very cute mini pizzas. The restaurant's interior is gorgeous, and its obvious the owner and staff take a lot of pride in everything, because the look of the dining room, the personality of the staff, and the quality of the food all get very high marks in my book. Well, done Lenoci's. We had an outstanding experience visiting you.

Great little place with sandwiches, pizza and some hot food for the masses. Very clean and nicely decorated. It's cafeteria style. Order at the counter and food is brought to your table, promptly, great for lunch hour visits if you work nearby!

Great lunch spot! Small interior with a few tables and some outside seating. You order at the counter and they bring your food out to you, very casual and perfect for a weekday lunch. I ordered the Catania sandwich that was filled with fresh sliced prosciutto, mozz and a balsamic reduction. This was stacked with arugula and the bread was fresh baked. I agree with other reviewers saying the bread made this sandwich - it was soft and didn't hurt your mouth. Based on other reviews, I was nervous about the meat portions being small, but it worked. It did stop me from ordering the Italiano though, as I know of other local deli's that come stacked for the same price. My friend loved her gnocchi and after trying a bite, I need to order that next time! Another raved about her eggplant parm sandwich. All in all, Lenoci's exceeded my expectations! We'll be back!

Not enough meat

I wanted to love this deli, I truly did. I only live about 10 minutes from here so I was hoping this was going to be my spot. I tried the Palermo, and although the bread was super fresh, the rest of the sandwich kind of fell flat. The soppressata and prosciutto and fresh mozzarella should have had that superior Italian flavor I love so much, but it just didn't. And at the price point of over 15$ for less than a foot of sandwich I gotta pass. DiMauros deli in rocky hill is so good and truly authentic. And the meat he packs on there cannot be beat. Lenocis certainly didn't. Maybe I'll come back and try other menu offerings cause it did smell very good in there.

This is the perfect lunch spot in old Wethersfield! My brother raves about this place and goes so often they know him by name, so he finally took me with him. I saw someone post about the gnocchi here so thats what I ordered. Very similar to the gnocchi I had when I was in Italy this past summer! The burrata was also so tasty! I love that they have fresh bread. My sister got the chicken soup and enjoyed it. There is minimal seating inside as its a small place but it seems like many people order takeout from here. Outdoor seating available, so it'd be nice to come here during the summer and have a view of the town. Staff was kind as well as fast with our orders and cleaning up tables.

Siracusa - roasted eggplant, roasted peppers and fresh mozzarella

This small restaurant on Main St. in old Wethersfield was a real delight!! Service was great, food was fantastic! We were totally blown away by their rolls, which are freshly baked in their kitchen each day. If you place an order for bread ahead of time, you can even pick some up to take home! I ordered the Siracusa sandwich, which had roasted eggplant, roasted peppers & fresh mozzarella. A-MAZING. I love eggplant, but having roasted eggplant instead of fried was a real game changer. No sauce even needed. WoW.

That's the downside and I would give it 3.5 honestly because of it. Service was alright, our waiter wasn't bad, but he told us pizza will be right out and we still waited 20 minutes. All we ordered was a small firebird pizza. Sally's apizza describes it as "Mozzarella, Sally's tomato sauce, oven roasted chicken, diced sweet and hot peppers, onion" The flavor is really good and I do like how thin crusted the pizza is. Next time I would like to try the meat specialty pizzas. Last time we got cheese and pepperoni and it was good. The pepperoni is a but greasy but it's expected.

I wanted to give them a second chance. Sometimes businesses have bad days and I don't like to judge based off of one experience unless it's super bad. Well, this time was worse. Ordered the chopped salad. All you could taste was dressing and it was soggy and swimming. Barely any meat. Then the pizza came. One half had pepperoni and hot honey and the other had meatball and ricotta. The pepperoni side was literally disgusting. Like the salad, it was completely drenched in hot honey and sickly sweet. It was pooling on my plate. You couldn't taste the sauce, cheese, and toppings. Speaking of the sauce, there was little to none, had no flavor, and it was canned. I know canned sauce when I taste it. This was especially shocking because Sally's is known for their sauce. I'm very disappointed because I usually love the sauce at Sally's l, but this wasn't it. And then there's another problem: the pizza came out burnt and cold. New Haven style is slightly charred, not BURNT. It wasn't just the crust; it was also the undercarriage. See the photos I attached. It also took 50 minutes from the time our order was placed to get our one pizza when the restaurant wasn't even at half occupancy. Service was terrible!! We weren't even offered red pepper or parm with our pizza and weren't asked if we wanted dessert. Not like we wanted to stay after that mess, but it would've been nice to be asked. Our server was never near our table and it took a long time to get the things we wanted. We felt completely ignored all night. I feel like this is totally understandable on a busy night, but the place wasn't packed by any means and there were only a few tables occupied. We had to wait an extra 20 minutes after we finished our pizza before our server came around again and just handed us the check and walked away without a word. Not coming back.

I was in Connecticut for a wedding a few weeks ago and ended up in old Wethersfield around dinner time, so obviously we had to return to my wife's old pizza place to order up a pizza. The place was absolutely packed when we arrived so we decided to just order a large pizza to go, half pepperoni and half sausage and meatball. The pizza took maybe twenty minutes or so to make and when it was done, well, it looked absolutely spectacular. My half of the pizza was the sausage and meatball and it was like a whirlwind of nostalgia punching me in the mouth with each and every bite. The crust was perfect, the sauce was perfect, the toppings were perfect, and the overall pizza was everything I've been craving for over a year since my last visit to the nutmeg state. Overall, Village Pizzeria & Family Restaurant is everything you expect from a central Connecticut pizza joint. The restaurant looks cozy and nice inside, the staff was super busy but still friendly, and the food was top notch. This place is definitely an old Wethersfield gem.

I may or may not be contemplating a couple of Tums. I'm conflicted on this 2/5 rating since I wish there was a 2.5/5 option here. There are some promising things about Frank Pepe's: a coal-fired oven, photos of the same white clam pizza I ordered that look more like pizzas I had in Italy than the one I got, and other options for toppings that might work out better. Perhaps asking for light garlic and maybe the addition of the calabrian chilies from the seasonal special pizza (or pickled jalapeños, if available) would've fixed the balance (and topping palatability) of this pizza. A different pizza also may be substantially tastier, but goshdarnit, we're close enough to the ocean that I'd like to think the white clam is a slam-dunk. It's even listed in neon in the window! As ordered, unchanged, off the menu, though, I feel like I need to leave this state for a pizza just to feel something. Connecticut calling itself "the pizza state" has thus far been a lie; a cruel joke wherein a few outstanding outliers try to gloss over the fact that most of the state's pizza is mid-to-bad. "Mystic Pizza" being one of the state's most famous audiovisual exports sort of fits given that the availability of standout pizza here appears to be a mystical unicorn I've yet to find after moving here last year. Pepe's gets serious props for using large chunks of clams that don't look like the typical, uniformly cut, restaurant-supply-can chunks, but they were a bit rubbery and almost completely drowned out by the amount of garlic. It's like they were cooked too long, and the moisture from the clams evaporated accordingly. The crust had a little crunch to it as well, but lacked the crispy bubbles and heavier charred spots I expect from this style of pizza and from the assorted menu photos. Either go foldable or go harder on the fire--anywhere in between lands in disappointment territory. Commit to a bit. $8 a pint is a bit much for basic beer selections like Sam Adams and Peroni, too, but that's sort of my least concern. We live in Hell where everything is expensive lately, and at least beer prices haven't shot up as badly as gas prices. I probably should've ordered the sangria in hindsight. White peach? Here for it. Also, the staff was friendly, and service was prompt. I really should give it a second chance with a more traditional tomato-sauce pizza, or maybe a margherita. If you go, expect it to fall short of the hype unless whoever made the nicely bubbly white clam pie in the photos posted here is manning the oven. Unless you like garlic as much as I like cheese, consider asking to go light on the garlic for a better-balanced pizza if you order this one.
