At the height of violence in our streets I tried to do my best by supporting some of these businesses. During this phase 18th street looked like a ghost town on a Saturday. Normally on a Saturday in this neighborhood has people teeming everywhere and the smell of an asado in the air (Yum). Having time off and having an asado is the perfect way to relax and spend time with your family. Plus, who doesn't like the smell of an asado? Well during this time period I found this shop that I thought had some really cool and unique stuff. Also, you may notice that they have a fair amount of stuff with the famous Hulu's The Bear line, "Yes Chef, No Chef" on it. If you are a fan of the show like I am, then, the interior will look familiar to you because it was in a seen on the show (I think it was season 3). I immediately recognized the store and thought to myself "cool" and great choice. Anyhow, if you find yourself in the area, pop in and check it out. They are very selective as to which artists around the country they want to buy from and in turn sell their products. Maybe you will find that one unique thing that you have been looking for that you didn't realize you need. I mean, you never know unless you check it out. I feel like a bull in a China shop in here- all the aisles and merchandise is so jammed close together, that every time I turn around, I feel like I'm going to break some fragile jade egg or some bamboo vase. They also sell Chinese clothing, which all seemed a bit small for my tastes. But it's pretty. It's a shop in a nice location- it's sort of in the souvenir district of Chinatown- there's a few cool other similar shops on the same street, right in front of the Chinese archway that leads you into Chinatown.

They sell calligraphy pens but I wasn't able to write this, though I tried for a full 5 minutes. The staff is helpful, and patient. There's quite a bit of stuff crammed into a small space, and it ranges from the very cheap (and looks very cheap) the to the inexpensive (and doesn't look cheap) souvenirs to nice decorations. It's too tight with too many fragile items to bring in younger children (unless they are very well behaved) but there are lots of toys to give to children as gifts. Not surprisingly it's all made in China, including the Japanese sake serving sets which are quite a bit cheaper than you would find elsewhere. It's really fun to shop here, and you can't leave Chinatown with out some sort of souvenir, right?

There's about three floors that are similar to a mall with multiple shopping areas and a food court. There is one sit down restaurant that has a huge bar and views over the river. If you're staying at the Holiday Inn downtown or the Voco downtown, there's a convenient walkway over the street so you don't even need to go outside. The food court has a huge variety of quick service restaurants: salads, barbecue, sushi, Chinese, sandwiches, and fried chicken. Multiple restaurants allow you to order food ahead and pick it up so you don't have to wait in long lines. Most of the building is office space so if you're here around 8 or 9 AM, lunchtime, or 4 to 6 PM, it's crazy busy. There are a couple entrances that have those rotating doors. My first morning here I was entering from the street level through one of those and a lady behind me came and pushed the door really fast. It was all I could do to step out the door without having to go around again. She then rushed by me and almost ran up the escalator. She must have been late for work compared to me, a wandering tourist. If you're in the area, check this place out.
