Anyone who knows me well knows that I am completely obsessed with this shop. And I mean obsessed! It's honestly such a good thing that I don't live in Evanston, because it's possible I'd skip meals and spend my dinner budget on shopping. I recently purchased an item for a friend. I shopped online for the very first time, and though I missed the IRL experience (and getting the chance to say hello to Jaime), I got just as easily lost in the site...wanting to purchase something for everyone! The site was well organized, and super easy to navigate. I mean it was really easy. I picked out my item (that was the hardest part), put it in the cart, and I was prompted with the option to purchase a card with my item. I didn't purchase a card, but they did such a nice job of including a cute little gift tag to the item I purchased. I've purchased a ton of cards from Stumble & Relish. They have the best cards...totally worth it! So, what did I purchase for my friend? The most adorable rainbow *you are beautiful* cursive wooden carved desk plaque. If you're not familiar with the *you are beautiful* brand, all of their products will bring you great joy. In reference to a recent review, yes, the amount of people allowed into the shop is limited, but they do offer private shopping hours. And, if you call ahead, they can let you know how many people are currently in the shop. The store owner, Jaime, is perfectly accommodating and wants everyone to have the best shopping experience, ever! And, if you don't feel comfortable shopping in person, I suggest shopping online, but don't forget to pass by and peek through the window for an extra special bonus. Stumble & Relish, I will forever adore you!

Made my first visit to Stumble and Relish on Saturday. What an adorable shop, if I lived closer if definitely pop in all the time and rely on this place for unique gifts. I made the trip to pick up some free Yelp goodies and couldn't resist picking up some cute earrings too. They limit the amount of people in the store and do have curbside pick up. They have a website, but if you have time to pop in, the in store experience is so much better! I've already gotten so many compliments on my earrings and look forward to finding some time to pop back in again.

Okay, this is THE cutest little boutique in Evanston, and you have to stop by if you are in town! I was walking down the street and was drawn in by these cute Evanston tote bags in the window. If you are looking for some Evanston or Chicago themed gear, this is the place for you. So many locally made products that are unique and adorable. I was looking for Evanston postcards and they had a nice selection! I picked up an Evanston card, Skokie, and Chicago for just $2 each. I also got an Evanston sticker for $3. They have a large range of things from onesies to tee shirts to magnets to coasters to leather embossed journals. Something for everyone. They also had these gorgeous black framed silver cutout maps of Chicago and Evanston that I loved. They also have these intricate Evanston and Chicago necklaces and earrings. This is the perfect shop to pick up some gifts for loved ones or for people visiting out of town! They also have a large selection of jewelry and bags of you are looking for something special for yourself. Treat yourself! I met the owner and she was so kind and nice and helpful. I will definitely be stopping by anytime I am in town! I love Evanston and this is the only store where I have ever found cute Evanston things! Highly recommend shopping here- 5 stars for sure.

If you are looking for a "find" that you won't see anywhere else, THIS PLACE IS IT! I was next door at Perspectives Gallery and decided to finally take a look in Stumble & Relish. The windows have always beckoned me, but alas, I usually was too busy to take a look inside. On a beautiful sunny day, I decided to indulge myself. Soooo OMG, am I glad I did. This is a great place for gifts of any kind. Even ones where I plan to treat myself... I am eyeing that colorful jewelry (Hubby, see my pics!) Or I would love to make us some cocktails in those way so cool vintage glasses. I spoke to Jamie behind the counter who told me they fill the place with artisan crafted items. Well no wonder you find things that you don't see anywhere else. From hand knitted pink hats that would be great at any self respecting protest march, to cards and notebooks, to artwork, to tote bags and purses, to treasures for cool goodie bags, to the most incredible jewelry I've ever seen, this place is chock full of whatever floats your boat. And the prices were quite reasonable. Next time you need a gift or you just want to treat yo'self, head in here and take some time to explore. You'll be glad you did!

It's a beautiful warm and humid day in Chicago and the walk was good. The place is very quaint and small but well lit for shopping. It's a woman's boutique specializing in European clothing. The major designer is Solar and I have not heard of it, but designs are suited for a dressier woman. Thankfully that counts me in as I work in an office where jeans are not allowed and it's conservative so the weekends I can go casual. Back to the store the sizes are European and the lady at the counter (I am assuming is the owner) was very kind to tell me that 34 is usually x-small, 36 is small and 38 is medium. I'm usually a medium but some of her clothing allow for a 34 when I tried on a pair of white slacks. It had a great fit, but buying white is difficult because the material may be more revealing than you might like. Her clothes has many price points as she indicated and sales from the previous season is 20% off. Her summer selection drove me to walk in full of blight yellows, pink, and orange. Do stop in if you're in the neighborhood and support local small businesses!

What a special place!…read more From the moment you walk into Ayla's, you forget you are at a business; it feels more like someone's home. The atmosphere is beyond inviting. The employees are above attentive and Ayla is the most kind - and she is passionate about philanthropy and the arts. My organization purchased our fresh water pearls and stones from Ayla's to support an art event we were doing to raise awareness and funding to support adolescents youth who did not have access to the arts and quality programming. Ayla's Originals was fundamental in helping us have a very successful event. We were able to purchase affordable fresh water pearls that were of great quality and we were able to find a variety of unique beads along with all the accessories we needed. The day of the event, Joe of Ayla's Originals stopped by our event just to check on us to see did we need anything else. I was so inspired by their passion for community, generosity and thoughtfulness. I really love this small business. I encourage everyone to stop by Ayla's and register for one of their jewelry making classes; great folks, creative, experienced and customer service driven. I know after your first visit, you will be back.

Loads of other small business bead shops in the Chicagoland area won't scam and condescend to you. Visit #1 - Joe helped me select some beads and supplies, totaling $322. Toward the end, it got hectic, and all employees were preoccupied. I needed to get somewhere, and I had some questions to ask before finalizing my purchase. I eventually gave up, realizing they were too busy, and decided to purchase the items I had and return if I needed more. I told Joe I needed to leave to get somewhere on time and I'd like to check out. Instead of beginning the checkout process, he upsold me on other items. The checkout process took 15 minutes as they do not have an electronic register and process transactions manually. At no point did Joe mention that the checkout process would take longer than is typical when I said I needed to leave. I felt like I wasn't listened to and was being sold to without regard for my time or business. Throughout our interaction, I mentioned that I was new to beading and was purchasing supplies for a jewelry-making party. I mentioned that I wasn't sure I needed all these supplies and may need to return some. At no point did anybody mention the return policy is store credit or exchange only. Visit 2 - A week later, I had returns to make, about $99 worth. I called to ask about the return policy and was informed it was only an exchange or store credit. I politely asked if an exception could be made, considering this was not communicated before completing my purchase. The person I spoke with said she would ask the owner and call me back. They never called me back. I went in person with my boyfriend and we spoke with Joe. I told him I had items I needed to return and asked if it would be possible for an exception to be made to the policy, since I wasn't told the policy before they completed my transaction. He said no, that they only offer exchange and store credit. When I asked why an exception couldn't be made, he said, "Because that's how we've always done it." My boyfriend asked again if he would consider making an exception and Joe said he would ask Ayla. He went to the back to ask and returned, saying that Ayla said they would make an exception. I was appreciative, and we went to the counter to process the return. He used the card reader to attempt a return but kept getting an error message, and he said he did not know how to process a return. Regardless of whether a business offers returns/refunds, it is essential to understand the key functions of your systems. Eventually, we gave up trying to process the return, and he once again offered store credit and explained that the return policy was on their receipts. I told him that having the return policy only listed on the receipt and nowhere else when the return policy is no returns is not helpful because, at that point, the transaction is complete, and nothing can be done. This does not allow people to decide whether they want to make a non-returnable purchase. He responded, saying, "Well, we're a small business; we don't just want people to pay and to just say to them 'thank you for your money.'" (implying there is no way to get that money back now.) And yet there we were, in that exact situation. We asked if we could get our refund in cash. Mind you, there was a sign on the counter that said, "We're a small business, we prefer cash." implying they accept cash and likely have it in the register. He said he would ask Ayla. He went to the back once more, which is separated from the store by a curtain. Shortly after he went back, we heard Ayla (the owner) SCREAMING "NO. NO!! ABSOLUTELY NOT! I DON'T HAVE A HUNDRED DOLLARS! I'M NOT GIVING THEM ANY MONEY! I'M WITH A CLIENT!" and on and on and on. Everybody in the store could hear her. Joe returned and told us that wouldn't be possible, to which I said, "Oh, don't worry, I heard her." At this point, we had been there too long. I should have asked to speak directly to Ayla to resolve the issue and address her abhorrent behavior, but at this point, all I wanted was to leave and never return. Unfortunately, I caved and accepted store credit, which Joe insisted I did not need to use that day and could return and use any time. Did he think I would ever want to make a trip here again? As I tried to gather items for exchange, Joe felt it necessary to say, "You know this is one of the strands you returned." Yes, I know, but that was when I thought I could get a refund. This entire time, I remained polite and tried to offer feedback for a better experience, but was only condescended to. After leaving, I discovered they broke my debit card with their machine! It kept declining, and my bank said it was showing as "expired" despite the exp. date being months away. Don't waste your time or money here.

By July 29, after sending two emails requesting an update on my order status, I still had not received any response from the vendor. I eventually had to call the company myself to find out what was happening, only to be told that my order could not be fulfilled because the color I selected was no longer available--even though it was listed as in stock at the time I placed the order. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of communication and customer service. Customers should not have to repeatedly follow up just to learn that their order cannot be fulfilled. If there is an inventory issue, the company should proactively notify customers instead of leaving them waiting without any updates. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this company. The inaccurate inventory information, poor communication, and lack of customer support made for a very frustrating buying experience. However, after my visit today, I will no longer be patronizing this business. After trying on several items, I wanted to purchase a dress. However, said item had hairs on it, to a noticeable degree (the customer checking out next to me agreed). Besides being obviously unhygienic, I was worried about allergies, as I am alergic to cats and wondered if somebody with an animal had tried it on previously. When I got up to the front and asked for an additional 10% off for this (as I would need to have it cleaned before wearing), the owner played the nut role and made me repeat my request by saying, "Well, what do you want me to do about it?" When I reiterated my request, she silently rang me up and presented my $124 worth of merchandise without so much as a thank you or a smile. Obviously, in a snit. I chewed on this, went to the bathroom and then calmly said to her that I was a regular customer, had been for years, and I wondered (since during my previous visits, I have never gotten the full service that the older white customers seem to get, as I can hear them being helped and conversed with while I am not checked on) whether she would be acting like she was doing me a favor by selling to me if I wasn't black. Just as a "shot in the dark", so to speak, since she was so short-tempered and rude to me. And she said, "Let's not go there." Which is not an apology. Or even a proper rebuttal, I might add. Now, in my experience, as a 50-year-old black woman working and living in virtually all white spaces my entire life, when people say something like that to you, in a dismissive, hostile tone, that you have struck a nerve. Especially when you are not even given the benefit of eye contact. Which is to say, I was right. They have many a good sale here as of late, no doubt due to the state of the economy and the lack of interest in brick and mortar stores. My hope, however is that when you patrons out there DO go to a retail space in person, you choose one that treats ALL customers with the respect, kindness and humanity no doubt EVERYONE deserves. Which certainly can't be found at Accents Plus. Who should settle for anything less?
