Making candles to suit my vibe
Ashley B.

This place is so chill and peaceful! As soon as you come in you are smelling a combination of essential oils. I love the idea of either picking pre-made candles or making your own! I lucked up and came across this place while the owner was there and she is very informative and gives you great step-by-steps while assisting you with scent pairing and candle creation. There is a candle making bar, pre-made candles, "mystery candles", and more. The place has sustainable packaging including an initiative where you can re-use the containers! I love that they also do business with local creators, selling/using their goods/services. BUY LOCAL They do parties too for those that like craft and sip events! They are in a great location and help with making your event entertaining and chill. Now, depending on what you want, the cost can get pricey but the overall benefit was worth it for me. Not to mention how long they last is a win !

The scent wall. Chose what you like up to 3 scents.

The scent waifs through the air as you pass the store. You stop to see what the scent is all about. You are drawn in by the scent aspect alone. Lisa, (the owner) has done a fantastic job with this store. Open about 2 years now (as of 7/2023) AND survived COVID! (Kudos Lisa!) I took my BFF here for her birthday as she has wanted to make a candle here since it opened. Renee was our artist. She was delightful! We chatted and shared a lot. A small candle is $35 minimum pricing, to make. You also need to pick it up after 24 hours (so it can solidify) or they also offer shipping. Lisa also offers group events in the store or at your location. Call for pricing and availability. Stop in and support this great shop while in Oak Park. Besides candles they also offer handmade soaps, room sprays, custom scent roll on and more! Support Small Business!

A few months ago I had to cancel my candle making class. I never had the time to reschedule. I received a gift card from a friend for a handcraft soap. There were a few choices to pick. I ended up getting the Lavender Poppy Seed. The owner was there and she was so down to earth. A nice laid back candle bar where you can sit and make your customize candle. Einnim specializes in customized soy candles, goat milk soap bars, body and hair products and other products. Inside is a nice seating area that has a couch. I love the neon pink sign on the wall (the candle bar) it gives off cool chill vibes. Fun and cute place to make candles with your friends.

This place gave me and my woman a great experience, we were able to have a private session and enjoy ourselves as much as we could, the owner was really informational about the scents ands helpful and very welcoming and friendly. They have a lot of available scents, I enjoyed smelling them and trying to figure out which would go great to mix together. And there were nice chill lofi type music playing it was a whole vibe. Definitely a place I'd recommend for people to hang out not just with their significant other but also their friends.

A very cute and cozy place. We enjoyed ourselves so much! We did a candle making party for 2 and it was us and the host (who was the owner!) She was so friendly, easy to talk to, and explained everything really well. She's uses high quality oils and waxes unlike many big box stores. The store also has a small market of other local artists to support!

I didn't even know this parking and the additional shops were here. But since we parked here so I could wander a shop nearby, I saw this one as I was wrapping up my stroll. It looked like a home decor/interior decorating sort of store, which I love since I like to look at beautiful things and imagine how lovely my home could be if it wasn't a cluttered mess. It's kind of a hodgepodge of stuff, from gourmet food items to jewelry to photo frames and other decor. I found bailene brand sea salt, so I picked some up since I can't seem to find this brand in stores any longer. They also had a few different brands of fleur de sel, which I considered getting but held off since I'm trying to avoid extra things at the moment as I prepare to pack up a house. They had vinegar de Banyuls, which I like and have purchased before and would have if I could remember what I used it for but again am avoiding unnecessary items to pack. I was welcomed shortly after entering the store but not pressured or anything. As I wandered with both a shopping basket and three month old in my arms, one the employees said she was happy to help me shop since I had my hands full; though I didn't need the help, I appreciated her offer. And something that's kind of cool is that they offer glasses of wine for purchase as you shop! Nice touch in this classy joint. I'd definitely shop here again. They had some really beautiful things (I've filed them away for when I need a photo frame). They carry seasonal items as well, so I would love to visit once Halloween has passed to see what they carry for the winter holidays.

A great mix of antiques, vintage decor, and great gift ideas! The visual displays are on point. You can tell the shop owners plan out every detail and their passion and dedication shine through! Their window displays are just a tiny snap shot of the amazing shop that Yearbook is. In addition, their design services are top notch! If you're lucky, during your visit, you may get to meet the official Yearbook mascot, shop dog Henry Clarence. Henry is currently running for president and has done an amazing job raising money for all the animals at the Oak Park animal shelter. I highly recommend Yearbook! We were assigned to Yearbook first and I was so impressed by everything about the store. From the friendly owner and manager, to the quality of the products and the incredibly reasonable pricing - plus the special discount for that night! I finally got the maple syrup jug (made and bottled just for them) that the husband had wanted and picked up some of their store-exclusive candles (no typical boring scents here!) and a vintage travel case and some wood handled toothbrushes. I've got to go back soon and visit the studio to have some crew-themed pillows, etc. made to bring me back to the days when I actualy rowed. I am so glad we had this forum to shop because I would have missed that things you would just assume are decoration (because they are vintage) are actually for sale! LOVE - I cannot say enough great things about this place.

Sadly, the Brown Cow is closed for construction, so we missed out. We had already found parking, so instead of buying ice cream, we went treasure hunting next door. We had a lot of fun moving from one vendor area to the next as we worked our way around the store. It is very, very full of merchandise, but didn't feel super cramped. It would be harder to navigate if you are a larger size or if you need a walker or wheel chair. The aisles and vendor set-ups are narrow, so it does take some patience and balance to maneuver in and around. But everything is clean and well organized, so big plus there. And there is a massive amount of unique things. Smelled fine, too, not stuffy or smoky. The owner was walking around with a spray bottle, tidying up. Owners and customers all wore masks. 6-foot distancing marks are on the floor and additional signs are all around the shop, reminding shoppers about COVID precautions, which was appreciated. I think this would be a fun place to go on a masked, socially-distanced date! Ice cream + treasure hunting.

I told her that I wanted a "zen" bathroom that had a calming, spa-like effect, and that I wanted it to be as eco-friendly in design and materials as possible. She not only came up with a beautiful design but she spent countless hours (even while on vacation) to source all the materials for high quality, low cost, and sustainability. She worked closely with our contractor and was here constantly to check on progress. One story of how she goes the extra mile: The day our bathtub was to be delivered, she offered to come by and meet the truck. I didn't see why she wanted to, but I said, sure, knock yourself out. She had the brains to get on the truck and inspect the tub before it disembarked -- and sure enough, it had a huge gouge in the porcelain. She told the driver to take it right back. I never would have known to do that. In addition to the bathroom job, Lexi helped pick out colors and wallpaper for two rooms that were switching from bedroom to office, and they came out great. A great value added with Lexi is that she knows all about Feng Shui and can direct your home's Chi into it's proper place. She is a delightful person and a really great listener. I am very glad our bathroom remodel is almost done, but I'll miss having Lexi around! I wonder what needs remodeling next?
