On our recent trip to Rome, our tour director organized a group meal at Lelulo' as it was right around the corner from our hotel. At first glance, we thought the restaurant was quite small, however, if you 'round the corner in pursuit of the bathroom, there is another dining room. The kitchen is actually on another level, so they have a little elevator that sends the dishes up/down (don't know what level the kitchen is on) into the dining room.
As with most of our group meals, we were served from a pre fixe menu - so while I would have very much enjoyed having a chance to branch out and try something different, we were served three courses - pasta, meat dish and dessert.
Everything was tasty, just not entirely memorable as I couldn't even tell you what kind of pasta I ate. Everything was cooked well, but the small salad on the side of the meat dish (it was either chicken or veal, but I honestly have no idea which) was very salty. I couldn't eat it. The dessert presentation was slightly confusing - when delivered, it appeared to look like cheese cake (which I grew very excited about), but at the first bite I realized it was panna cotta which I am not a fan of. Whomp whomp.
From my understanding of this restaurant, reservations are required and they do things a little differently in that you choose your dishes ahead of time (fish menu, meat menu or vegetarian menu). They also offer the "dinner in the dark" - with blind waiters. I would think that would be a pretty novel experience for anyone looking to do something a little different! read more
