We stayed in via Ardeatina in an Airbnb for a week (our host was Dario, so if you're staying there too this is about 10 minutes walk away) and went here several times. Found it while looking for another place, but we were after pizza and saw several locals emerging with stacks of thin pizza boxes so took a chance.
First time we ate in, second and third times we did take away (da portar via!). Ordering takeaway involves sticking your head in the kitchen where a couple of chefs work, and a couple of old ladies take your order on their pad, work your bill out and give change from a little box of cash on the side. Your pizza arrives about two minutes later. Fast hot ovens!
Pizzas are thin, crispy, and tasty - although I think the more toppings are on it the sloppier it all gets so I learned to stick to something simple! Didn't try the pasta but a translation of the long review above says it's great.
If we hadn't already known that roman service is typically a bit surly we might have taken it personally when our waiter plonked two pizzas on the table and walked off without even suggesting pepper... But even the locals get that, so it's quite funny really.
Couple of pizzas, two suppli (starter, like a cheese-stuffed rice and meat ball), a huge beer, and a litre of sparkling water came to 28€ eating in. Same couple of pizzas to takeaway and no extras was 15€. read more
