I particularly love this store as they carry the stunning Bird of Paradise stems and a rotating selection of Orchid stems depending on what they receive at the warehouse auction, among other more generally seen flowers. You'll also see Heliconia, Rose, Lily, Sunflowers and Freesias to name a few, all displayed in a beautiful floor to ceiling arrangement making it seem like a walk through a jungle. Throughout the year Margitta's will stock cymbidiums in small ($10-11 per stem) and large format ($1.50 per bud), mokara, oncidium, phalenopsis, paphiopedilum and dendrobium orchids if you're an orchid fanatic like myself. The dendrobium stem ($4) I got lasted me from January to April, so it was quite the surprise for me and gave me months of blooms. Whether you're here to purchase a single stem to liven up a living space, or assembling a bouquet for a special event, Margitta and her staff always positively greet their customers and offer knowledgeable advice on the different blooms and their availability. A neighbour saw them, brought them in, and had to call Blumen to ask which house they were for. I still have no idea who sent them, though, so I can't thank them for the gift. Pretty incredible that a florist can't be bothered to include a card with the flowers, or even to put an address on them if they're going to leave them out in public rather than delivering them.

I'm glad I went in before it was delivered to make some changes, but it ended up looking kind of haphazard and became an hot mess. The owner stated several times that the style I requested was one of the first styles that she had learned. If so, I was not impressed. She also wasn't pleased with the changes and resisted adding the types of flowers I wanted even though she removed quite a few large flowers. She kept adding green filler instead of flowers. I think for almost $200, she could have done a fairer job in accommodating my needs. I just hope my friend's family and friends don't look too closely as it didn't look very elegant at all. Not an happy customer. If I wasn't gutted by my friend's sudden passing and pressed for time, I would have cancelled my order and have gone elsewhere.

I picked up the bouquet yesterday and was surprised that it wasn't in the colour I requested for. She added in yellow peonies instead of the fuchsia ones. She admitted that it was her fault and quickly changed the flowers for me. I'm so happy, she never blamed it on me (even though it's not my fault) and was so obliging. The bouquet turned out beautifully! The price was fair and customer service was excellent. She is very easy to talk to and very friendly as well. I just found the security guy a tad bit irritating as the shop was small and there are plants everywhere, so there wasn't a lot of space to move around. He was there every time I turn around. The order form did state my birthday correctly. There was a knock at my door mid-morning a few days before my birthday. I didn't get to the door in time, but when I opened it, a flower arrangement was on my doorstep, with a birthday message for me from my wonderful son. The problem was...it wasn't my birthday. It was several days before my birthday. It was very awkward and disappointing for my son who had tried so hard to make this an amazingly special occasion - he spent money and time and effort researching florists, deciding on the arrangement and placing the order. It was a big deal to him and he dreamed of how special it would be for me. But it wasn't special - it was really awkward and disappointing. When I contacted Posy a few days later, they said I was mistaken and the flowers were delivered on my birthday. I reiterated again that no, I was quite certain that they arrived BEFORE the planned delivery date of my birthday. They said I was wrong. I would never EVER shop here again. They messed up the deliver date, broke my son's heart, put me in a very awkward position with my son, and called me a liar...twice. I wasn't even asking for compensation - I just contacted them to let them know and find out what happened. I'm so amazed and appalled at this horrible customer experience that I feel compelled to write this review.
