Note- this is from the perspective of an (Los) Angeleno. Wow. Course was beautiful. Tee boxes were level. Fairways were lush. Greens were remarkable. It is a relatively easy course. It is wide open.

Par 3 16th

This is a very nice public course at an affordable price. It's extremely walkable and caters to all skill levels with 4 sets of tees. While the course doesn't play very long (6100 from the white tees and 6600 from the blue tees), there are plenty of challenges to keep it interesting. The greens are massive and full of undulation, which really comes into play if you're having a bad day with your approach shots and short game. All the par 5s are right around 500 yards, but have bunkers that run the length of the fairways on both sides. I was happy to see that the sand was in great shape and very easy to judge. I wouldn't say the course had any breathtaking views or signature holes so to speak, but I really enjoyed the par 3 16th. It plays about 155 from the blues and 140 from the whites. It has about 30 feet of elevation change from the tee to the green and has water to the right with a greenside bunker. I was able to walk this course with a 4some on a Saturday morning in about 4 hours and 15 minutes, which I consider excellent pace of play, especially on a weekend!

Very scenic course. Tricky greens, but a fun challenge. Some fun holes with elevation changes and water hazards. Will definitely be back.

Island Greens Golf & Driving Range - Found a ball not mine

Island Greens Golf & Driving Range

This chip and putt golf course was purchased and closed around 2021. It is now private property…read more Golf no longer exists. What used to be an iconic island experience is no longer. Too bad, as it was fun threading your ball through a tight course with many hazards, teeing off buckboards and pirate ship decking. A loss for us all.

Gram Gram Getting into golf golf. My estranged grandson whom recently we found out of (by way of an…read moreinternational saucy affair) invited me out to the Whitney Island. Little did I know how much of a hassle it is to get to this place. My grandson said it would be a day trip, it was not. He lied. It was some sort of college reunion where they played alcohol games. I only played the beer pong, but Chris was was playing Mario kart. We ended up staying two nights. I didn't bring my nightgown, but my grandson packed for me. Such a sweetie pie. Anyways, The only reason for this places existence is to firmly establish the bottom of a barrel. But when you're stuck on an island, and there is only one golf course, you don't have many options. WE HAVE TO GO BACK. (lost). When you first drive up and pull into the "parking lot" you have no idea you're at a golf course. Imagine my surprise when I was told I was going to golf, and we have to park next to what's called a "driving range". Didn't see too many cars "driving" the range. This place uses the honor system where you have to pay $10 a golfer. Luckily for all 6 of us, none of us had cash. So we didn't have to pay. +1 thrift point as RAYMOND SAYs. Call me old fashioned, but I lived during the Cold War. Don't challenge me. Most golf places don't have any clubs. This places had at least 100 abandoned golf clubs. Danny, my "matest with the greatest" picked up one of these bags. However, somewhere between the 2nd and 9th hole he got dunk, and wandered off. We found him passed out on the fairway of the 9th hole. Nice boy. This place DOES NOT have golf carts. So we had to drive our truck ON THE COURSE to get from hole to hole. Of course, I drive the jeep. Just like Johnny Tsunami in the series pilot. Grandkids LOVED that shower. Probably my least favorite grandson, Chris made a good point. If there is no are no beer carts driving around then you are free to shot gun beers at every green. Grandma hadn't shotgun beers in over 2 weeks, but live like a Roman horse with an arrow in your buttocks. No bathrooms on course. It was embarrassing, but I had to pop a squat behind a rose bush on the 6th hole. I though I was hidden but I was not. I showed off my 80 year old booty to some (what I assume was ) a peeing Tom. Eric was very mad at everybody. Garrett (G$) says Eric was born mad at the world because he was born with two right feet. But as soon as he whacked a 220 yard dinger dinger off a tree onto the green (completely bypassing the fairway) it more than made up for his bad feet. Greens were in decent shape. Buckets next to where you begin driving were overflowing with garbage. Let's get this garbage off this course and into the landfills. Same can be said for those dumpers in Washington. Ok time for breakfast raisin brain By grandma bye Bye

Columbia Super Range - Me crushing' balls!

Columbia Super Range

I'm new to the area and am pleased to find this range, much better than where I came from. The prices are very reasonable, in fact much lower than a Top Tracer range I used to go to: $21 for an extra large bucket, $17 for large. Top Tracer is a wonderful technology: I usually start by practicing with different clubs, (it records ball flight data for different clubs) and then I play one of the many virtual golf courses. For a driving range, the balls are pretty good - I see reviews that are critical of the balls, but if you want better balls you'll pay more. Mats are in good shape, rubber tees of all heights available in all bays. There are lots of bays and I've never had to wait, but I avoid times when I know they'll be busy. The bays are heated, canopied, and clean, the Top Tracer machines work perfectly and are accurately calibrated. The staff is friendly but doesn't say much, no pressure at all. Instruction is available but I haven't taken a lesson; again, they don't say much but no pressure either. I haven't tried the putting/chipping area, which looked to be in rough shape from winter but improving as things dry out. The indoor lounge area is comfortable and golf is always on the TV.

I've been to quite a few ranges the past year, this is by far the worst, Especially being a woman and coming here alone. I waited over 5 minutes for staff to even come and ring me up for balls. As they come up they ask if I even have clubs and I show them I do. I let him know I'm new to this location and was wondering how it worked. He was very short and seemed to talk down to me. So I try to find a bay, and immediately was met with a gaggle of men just staring me down. Let's just say, I was extremely uncomfortable and will not be returning. Let alone the place definitely needs a facelift. I was hoping to get lessons at this location but seeing how today went. I'll pass and go to snohomish, they're much more friendly.

Jorgensen Golf - The PING Hoofer bought at Jorgenson.

We were intent on going to Puetz Golf but had heard about Jorgenson and decided to stop in here on the way. They've been in business they said for like 26 years, and after having experienced their service I know why. We were on the hunt for a couple of Golf bags, due to an unfortunate rat incident in our storage shed. I really wanted a Callaway bag to replace my other, but the owner showed us around and pointed out some other great bags, and I ended up buying a Sun Mountain, which I love already. The hubby was filled with glee to see the PING hoofer bag in camo, so he chose that one. Having joked to my hubby about his horrible slice the owner suggested she analyze his swing, him being such a tall guy she said he probably didn't have stiff enough clubs for his swing speed etc. This indeed was proven true. Although we didn't buy clubs this weekend we both will get a new set this season and will get them at Jorgensen. This is our new golf shop, we won't go anywhere else. Great service, super friendly, reasonably priced, and very knowledgeable.

Lucas spent an hour with me looking at my club fit and also swing speed, etc. We figured out that my 16 year old driver was too flexible and my swing speed was much faster than what my club could handle. Yes, I've outgrown my old driver. There was no pressure to buy anything and I appreciated the honest feedback about a couple of my bad golf habits. Lucas guided me to an affordable close out driver that was actually made this century (ok, actually within the last year), unlike my current driver. I held off on buying the driver that night so I could go home and "geek out" with Internet research on that driver and other models. I came back in the next day and Diana let me practice on the driver for a while. Julius even came out and gave me some impromptu pointers to help fix my swing. To cap this off, Diana offered to resize the grip on my driver at no cost to fit my hand size. I'm such a fan of small and local businesses. I don't think I would have gotten this level of service anywhere else, especially at those big box stores. I'm definitely a fan and a new and loyal customer. I'll be slowly upgrading my 16 year old golf set by going back here. Thank you!
