My project was complicated because my 1980s drywall shafts were the wrong size for modern solar blinds. Instead of just "making it work" or creating a huge mess with drywall dust, Zach proposed a brilliant custom solution: building a clean birch veneer box with custom trim. It looks stunning and kept my house completely dust-free. What impressed me most was Zach's integrity. During the install, a small piece of my old plastic molding snapped. Instead of ignoring it, Zach took full ownership and replaced the trim on both skylights with upgraded foam-backed wood molding at his own expense to ensure everything was airtight and uniform. It is not a simple fix but an upgrade, for free. See the attached before/after pictures and the broken plastic. Like most customers, I contacted a few contractors before selecting Winfield Builders. Their price is VERY reasonable, and the communication through Yelp was professional and transparent. It is rare to find a contractor who cares this much about the details. If you want a crew that is honest, skilled, and delivers a beautiful finish, call Zach. 1000% recommendation!

For the first time I realize I had been hearing a fair amount of outside noise (which I'd apparently gotten used to), because these windows/doors are soundproof; now I don't hear anything at all from outside! And even better, the windows are easy to open, and my sliding glass doors actually slide well in the track, and are not shaking and drafty when it's windy outside -- major improvements from my old, builder-grade, 20+ year-old windows/sliding door. Further, the service crew was excellent -- careful, kind, professional, efficient, and they cleaned up everything afterwards. Roger, the foreman, has been doing this work for almost 30 years, and Jose, who single-handedly carried in/out the windows/doors, has been doing this work for 10+ years. I didn't get the name of the quiet third service person who was mostly outside and on the ladders, also very efficient. fyi, they did mention that working on the 4th floor of our condos from ladders was a bit more challenging as the original builder-grade windows had been made to fit by being packed/taped in place from the outside, which necessitated them having to actually break some of the glass to be able to pull the old windows out. But they did it - and did it well. Finally, Shaun, the project manager who gave me my estimate and oversaw the project from estimate, HOA approval process, to completion, was great. Highly recommended.

I finally, actually, made the right choice, for a change! If you've had any of these concerns in the past, about what company to hire to do your job, you can just dismiss all these worries, if you just hire P.J. Roofing company. An incredible company with great, conscientious, serious, skilled employees in their work and work ethic. They recently replaced my old guttering, and did significant repair work on the siding at the back of my house. A representative of P.J. Roofing, Daniel, came out to my home and presented me with multiple options for new guttering, including color, size, and filtration systems to prevent my gutters from getting clogged, and subsequently having rain water, deluges of waterfalls in fact, spilling over my old guttering, that were previously encumbered with Gutter Helmet, which did not do what it was advertised to do. He also identified, understood my concerns, and recommended a solution to the problem, that I had recently been made aware of, with the old siding on a small portion at the back of my house. I am forever grateful for making the right choice in hiring P.J. Roofing. If I was going to have my roof redone, I would certainly hire them again in a nanosecond to do that work. I had their employees coming out after the guttering and siding work were completed, to ensure everything was done right, looked right, and to ensure that I was pleased with what they had done. P.J Roofing is the epitome of old time business excellence, and whoever is the owner of this company, had the wisdom and good fortune to have hired such excellent employees, all who exhibited such a high caliber of work ethic.

Beyond the roofing work, his team handled the interior drywall and ceiling paint flawlessly, leaving the room looking new. For my son: Other roofers insisted my son needed a full replacement for an old copper roof. Dan's repair expertise completely stopped the leak without the need for a costly replacement, saving my son about $10K. I had a very bad situation where a different roofing contractor (who I will not name) did a very unprofessional job of installing a new roof and gutters for us. There were numerous problems where they used inferior materials not according to the insurance estimate, did not follow county guidelines and added unncessary costs. I hired Dan as an independent inspector and he was able to point out to them all the things they were trying to get away with. He coached me all along the way in my dealings with this other company and gave me great advice. Roofing is one business where the average homeowner is not going to know all the details that many companies try to get away with. If you are in Maryland, and in need of a new roof, and haven't yet decided on a company, I HIGHLY recommend Dan and On Top for their honesty and attention to detail. If you already have a roofing company, I would also recommend using him as an independent inspector to ensure you are getting an honest deal. Hiring Dan and On Top was one of the best homeowner consumer decisions I've ever made in my nearly 40 years of living in Maryland.
