We stopped in for a quick beer last weekend after a day of wine tasting in Paso. Festive, strong drinks (from watching him pour). The place was packed with locals which was a great sign. If the locals come then it's gotta be a good place. The bartender was AWESOME. Very friendly, seemed to know everyone and had a great sense of humor. The only down side for me was the dog under my feet? I'm not a huge dog lover and this one smelled like dog (which I guess he should since he is one) but that's not what I'd like to be sniffing while sipping my beverage. However that's not enough to knock off a star. Total dive bar that seems to have a deep history and loyal customers. If we lived in the area I could see this being our hangout too. We'll have to settle for it to be our "when we're in town" place. read more

Legends is definitely my kind of bar. We recently went to Morro Bay and stayed for 3 nights. Every night we were there we ended up at Legends and had the best time. The people there are all so friendly and the fact that they allow dogs was a big plus. We didn't have our dog there, but it was a cool treat to see a couple really cute ones roaming around. The bartenders were great and the prices were very reasonable. They do have a window that you can order pizza thru and they just call your name when it's ready and there you go, pizza and beer. Doesn't get much better than that. Oh yeah, they also have a really cool, modern juke box and they do have a few TV's if you are there to watch sports. Legends was definitely one of the highlights of our trip and I can't wait to visit Morro Bay again. read more

The place was packed, everyone is having a great time, music is good and no one is getting out of line. I was expecting one more person who arrives at midnight and the same time the bartender yelled last call. What? You have 26-30 people in here and you yell last call. Not very businesslike. I'm guessing your boss lost a few hundred dollars not to mention the tips you could have made. So, the bar gets a 5 star rating, the bartender gets a -5 rating. I scoped out Legends ahead of our visit to Morro Bay. When traveling with other people... especially people you don't know, it's nice to have a fall back place to hang out. Especially if one of those people in your crew doesn't seem to really like you. But that's another story for another day. So, we ended up hitting Legends twice. It's clean, the service is fast and it wasn't so packed that we couldn't find a place to sit. The first night someone (another customer) offered my husband a shot as we walked through the door. Hubby quickly sized up the situation and decided that the guy offering it didn't look like the type to slip someone roofies/rapies. I guess sometimes people are just friendly. Huh. Quick take: good bartenders, friendly customer base, lots of locals, big giant moose head and decent music. Legends definitely helped to contribute to two mornings of somewhat nasty hangovers on this trip. But hey... I'm still a fan. read more

This is my first time here. Megan is absolutely fantastic!!! She prepared me a Mexican candy shot and it's my new favorite. I'll be coming back every time I come into town. I can't warn against this place enough. It's this type of establishment that does not care about it's patrons! Who knows what the bartender with the bleeding hand that was dripping down her arm has. We spent a short time here in our weekend getaway with friends. The staff was friendly but we had ordered drinks and were about half way thru when they told us we had to order food due to the Covid restrictions. It was a requirement for them to be open. Well, that would have been fine IF we were interested in eating. If we would have been told that before ordering we would have left. It was 2:00 in the afternoon and we already had lunch! Anyway, four basic drinks ended up costing us $42 because three people had to order something to eat. Very disappointed. We finished our drinks and took the "food" to go. Communication is key! I felt they misled us by not disclosing the food requirement until our drinks were half way down. read more

The bar manager here is a complete ass whole and treats those not from the area like they are not welcomed. We went there on a Tuesday night and tipped him well although he was very rude and unwelcoming. We returned the second night thinking it would different as he would probably want another good tip. Surprisingly he was a complete ass again as we asked for a drink and he said he wasn't a waitress, but he was the only one working! We frequent Morro Bay very often and don't appreciate to be treated like trash when we are respectable people. Don't ever waste your time here if you are not from the area!!!! Just left!! Incredibly rude manager. My husband and I came in, sat down and ordered. We were served our drinks. Shortly after, the manager came over and removed our drinks and said "I don't think we have anything you want here, you need to leave". We were shocked and incredibly offended. We were both sober and sitting quietly at the end of the bar. We are classy, respectful people and NEVER in my life have I been asked to leave an establishment for no reason whatsoever. This place was awful. It is a dive bar. Now we like dive bars in general, but never again this one. It started as soon as we walked in. Had to step around a couple of crazy women hanging around the door, looked like tweakers. Should have turned around right then. They don't serve food, but you can order pizza through a hole in the wall to the establishment next door??????? Bar tender was NOT friendly. I think we made him uncomfortable. So I'm in town for a few weeks and I decided to check out the local watering hole. I first went in on a Friday night and the place was packed! Luckily I got a seat at the bar and I met 2 of the greatest bartenders of all time...Brian and Amy (I'm pretty sure that is her name lol). The prices were right and they made me feel at home. I've been back a few more times since that first night and the service has been great, along with the crowd. I have met some great locals there, along with several people from out of state, out of country. They have a HUGE assortment of liquor and quite a few beers on tap. Did I mention the prices are also AMAZING? Way cheaper here and better tasting cocktails then on the Embarcadero! If you happen to be in town, give this place a try, it is definitely worth it! read more

i more than heart this bar. i've been there three times. twice in 2005 on a road trip with two of my friends up to san francisco. we stayed in morro bay because the hotels were cheaper than other middle towns. the first time in there, i checked out the juke box and it was more than joyous, all i needed to see was tom waits and i was sold. this was the first place i ever heard about voss water, the best water in the world aside from the water store water. the second was when we came back down from san francisco. we made it a point to stay in this town again because we had such a rad time. the locals are nice and we played pool and chatted it up. someone had a cat or dog in the bar that was drinking out of a shot glass. it was cute. the third time was on a different road trip, in 2006. on the last leg of the capital road trip i went on with todd (drove through 6 states and their capitals in 8 days). we got pretty trashed and made fun of a lot of things. the bathroom has a booth in it. like full on table, booth, chairs. they really do have awesome music on the jukebox. the drinks are not too expensive. there is a giant moose head in the bar. if you are ever near morro bay, stop by and walk around, there are cute coffee shops, pizza places and knick knack stores as well, and if you stay the night, treat yourself to a trip to legends. read more

We are regular visitors to Morro Bay so we decided to try Legends since it is within "staggering" distance to our hotel. We wished it had some regular tables instead of only high bar tables, but hey, it's a bar. It is a small dive with fun ambiance. The moose head and wall of liqueur bottles is impressive and scenic. There is a juke box but the music is not too loud. We were there two and a half hours hanging out, drinking, and talking, people watching, and eating pizza (which we liked). My husband ordered shots of fireball whiskey which were $4 each and they were very full shots past the fill line. He also ordered a bud light on draft which cost $4.75. They had an amber hills ale on special for $2 a glass, but we didn't try it. I got the impression that this is a vodka type of bar, so I ordered a bay breeze, which was $7.50. The bartender, Bill, makes the cocktails with half alcohol, so they have enough to give you a buzz for sure. However, since they do not use fresh juice, I didn't like the bay breeze. So I switched to a Harvey wallbanger which was also $7.50. It was really good, so I had another. Regarding the pizza, we ordered a medium "special" which was a combo pizza for $20. We liked the pizza and the crust was thin/medium crispy. It took a long time to get the pizza, but we didn't care since we were there to drink. A small pizza would have been plenty for the two of us. I also ordered two waters from Bill and he tilted his head and exclaimed "water?!" He was joking and gave us some big glasses of water. There is a long shuffle board table and some guys were playing on it which was neat to watch. There were some salty dog local fishermen sitting at the bar which gave the place some extra character. It is a cozy place to drink and relax. We will return. read more

There's shuffleboard, pool, and darts here; but they wouldn't let us play darts because the place was too crowded or something.
