Good service and fair pricing in a pleasant room with a decent amount of seating. The food was pretty tasty and was well portioned. I'd go back for a breakfast burrito again, for sure.

The food at the legacy cafe was fantastic. My daughter had the Mac and cheese and she said it was the best tasting she has ever had. My wife had the panini build your own panini turkey and smoked Gouda and the garden salad which was made well and tasted good. Next was my spinach salad with chicken. The chicken was seasoned well and the salad was fresh and delightful. The service was good but not exceptional but they were nice. The ambiance was old school coffee shop and antique store. We loved it. Great place to eat and serving up good food.

    Clever condiment dispenser!

Second visit to Legacy Cafe. Equally as good as my first visit. This time with wife and friends. I had the green chili stew- served hot and spicy - delicious! Also an avacado BLT on grilled sourdough. Very tasty. Karen had a Italian sausage green chili and mushroom flatbread and we both liked it. We had a chance to catch up with the owners and say "hi". They are such gracious host! By the way, the place is curated with an eye towards Taos History. It's magical.

Great selection of food. Service was excellent. The owner greets you at the counter when you order. Always pleasant and friendly. The cafe is decorated it Taos memories, lots from the Mc Carthy family history in Taos. It's worth coming in for the alone. Great experience!!

We found this place on Google. It is a newly opened (July 2024) counter service cafe in the central plaza area. The owners have had family in Taos since 1904. Great decor with lots of historically interesting pieces. We came at the end of the day on Saturday so they were out of some options. Nonetheless the service was excellent. The food was very good - they offered paninis, flatbreads and salads and some other cafe staples. Good spot for a casual meal with a fun vibe. The owner was also very nice to us.

    Inside. Bright and colorful.

Great service and great food!! We had panini sandwiches. There were a lot of good choices. It was hot and fresh. Also, the owner was visiting each table to ask if everything was OK. It was all very good! I'll go there again.

A Cafe with Heart, History, and Amazing Food! I had the pleasure of dining at this family-owned cafe in the heart of Taos, and I can confidently say it's a must-visit! From the moment you step inside, you're welcomed by the warm, inviting atmosphere that's filled with the McCarthy family's rich history (owner). The walls are adorned with photos that tell their story and highlight their deep connection to the community, making this cafe more than just a place to eat--it's a living piece of local history. Now, the food. Everything we tried was phenomenal. I had their lemon blueberry pancakes, which were light, fluffy, and bursting with flavor. The zing of lemon zest and the sweetness of the berry coulis made every bite feel like a burst of sunshine--perfectly fitting for this vibrant spot. Next up, the egg and bacon sandwich on an English muffin. It's a simple dish, but their chef made it where it felt like a gourmet treat. And my personal favorite? The Philly cheesesteak. Holy cow. The steak was tender and perfectly cooked, and the au jus they give on the side brought everything together. Unfortunately, I don't have any Philly cheesesteak photos since I would devour the sandwich as soon as it hit the table :) The service was just as amazing as the food. You can feel the love and care poured into every detail, from the thoughtful decor to the perfectly crafted menu. The pride Ruthann McCarthy takes in her cafe shines through in every aspect of the experience. They recently hired two new chefs, Rey and Sara, and what an incredible team they make! In the mornings when they're working, you can feel the energy--Sara's friendly presence and Rey's culinary wizardry create the perfect balance. Together, they bring both heart and skill to every dish they prepare. If you're in Taos and looking for a meal that's more than just delicious--it's an unforgettable connection to the area's culture and history--this cafe is THE place to go. And even if you're feeling down, the warm atmosphere, amazing food, and overall sense of community will definitely lift your spirits--it's impossible to have a bad day here. I used to watch the show "Cheers" with my dad and always loved finding places where 'everyone knows your name,' and this place perfectly embodies that friendly, welcoming atmosphere. *cue "Cheers" theme song*

Hidden Gem Alert | Taos, New Mexico…read more Some coffee shops announce themselves. Others let the coffee do the talking. Tucked away in Taos is one of the most unassuming coffee shops you'll ever find. From the outside, you might drive right past it. Step inside, though, and you'll immediately understand why there's always a line out the door. My daughter and I each ordered iced lattes. She went with vanilla and oat milk, while I stuck with my go-to combination of oat milk and honey. Both drinks were outstanding. Smooth, balanced, and packed with flavor without being overly sweet. I've had coffee all over the United States and in several countries around the world, and these lattes easily rank among my favorites. The coffee impressed us so much that we couldn't leave without grabbing a bag of their light roast to take home. What stood out just as much as the coffee was the atmosphere. The staff was incredibly welcoming, the service was excellent, and despite the constant flow of customers, everyone was smiling. Yes, you'll probably wait in line--but trust me, it's worth every minute. One funny moment from our visit: I had just found an open table when a gentleman told me, "I was saving that one." I laughed, told him to go right ahead...and then watched him walk over and sit at a completely different table. It gave my daughter and me a good laugh and made for one of those random travel memories you don't forget. Final Verdict: If you're visiting Taos and consider yourself a coffee lover, this place belongs at the very top of your list. Fantastic coffee. Friendly people. A welcoming atmosphere. And a line that tells you everything you need to know before you even take your first sip. Sometimes the best coffee shops aren't the flashy ones--they're the ones that quietly become unforgettable. There was about a 30 minute wait when we arrived, but it honestly flew by since there are some fun little shops nearby to browse while you wait. They are also dog friendly on the outdoor patio, which we really appreciated! Just keep in mind that the wait for outdoor seating can be a bit longer. We ordered the Farmhouse Breakfast and huevos rancheros, and both were delicious. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, the eggs were cooked perfectly, and the potatoes were seasoned so well. I also tried the Maya hot chocolate, which was delicious, along with the sparkling cranberry juice. Our server was friendly and attentive, and we grabbed a few pastries from the front beforehand . They were all so good, but the savory goat cheese and tomato pastry was definitely a favorite. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the freshness and quality of the food. (Coming from someone who's reviewed 57 coffee shops in 5+ states) We're calling it a Top 5 best cup of coffee. Last morning in town, and we wanted to try another spot, grateful (as always) to the yelp reviews that brought us here. Ordered the usual: decaf flat white with heavy cream. Appreciated that the staff spent a moment asking clarifying questions to ensure we were speaking the same coffee language. Waiting for our drinks, we peruse the shop- plenty to keep your eye busy and LOTS of personality to let you know THIS is the kind of place you want to your hard earned dollars to support.
