I have commented previously about Sabor Real and the people who own and manage it. I have not been there (yet) on this trip. It's Sunday morning and we just got up. But guess where we are going? Yes! I will have my Chilaquilles and my travel partner..well, who knows. But we are ready to tie on a fantastic breakfast/brunch. I will write again later today. read more

This small, family-run restaurant on the north end of Taos features solid, perfectly satisfying -- if unspectacular -- food served in a very casual ambiance by friendly, welcoming staff. We didn't originally plan to have lunch at Sabor Real, but I'm glad we did. We ran into an hour-plus wait at our first choice nearby and decided we needed to pivot to eat at a reasonable time. We were seated right away, and the service was genuinely excellent. Our orders were taken with minimal delay, which was highly impressive considering the restaurant was quickly filling up with other folks who had also given up on the adjacent spot. I had the carnitas torta, which was was made with sliced sausage rather than the chunks of tender pork I'm used to but it was still very tasty - particularly with a splash of the green chile hot sauce provided on the table. My dining companion had a breakfast burrito served with both green and red chile, which she thought was pretty good. Overall, it's a reliable, well-managed restaurant with a great staff and tasty food that completely saved our lunch schedule. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.0 for Yelp. read more

Sabor Real Restaurant - Torta con Carnitas (Sausage) - Pop-Up Restaurants Near Me - Taos, New Mexico

Great traditional New Mexico fare with a few contemporary offerings. We had the chicken molé and the chile rellanos. The mole was dark, rich and more spicy than expected. The rellanos were made with poblano peppers and served smothered. I would have preferred a more traditional chile and without being smothered. Would return. read more

Best New Mexican food we have had. We are here for a few weeks and surprisingly had a rough start to finding good green and red chili sauces - we found it here. Fabulous breakfast and we are making plans to return for dinner! read more

Very cute inside - lots of space, bright decor. Excellent service. Food was well priced and delicious. I especially enjoyed my mole Chicken plate, there was *so* much sauce. We ate absolutely everything; no crumb left behind. read more

Very nice people serving very spicy food. I hade a chicken burrito smothered with red chili and a side of chips and guac. The burrito was filled with chicken and green chilies. Woo boy. Very spicy. I really appreciated the flavor of the red chili. I don't love the boiled quality of the chicken when cooked with the green chili. The guac was good but too small of a serving for me. A solid place for sure. read more

Family-owned, authentic Mexican food. The owner's son waited on us. We loved the tacos, tamales, guacamole. Appreciate that the options allowed us to have green chile and/or red sauce on the side. Home-made tres leches cake. A selection of beers. We liked the tamales so much that we ordered a dozen To-Go. They carefully packed ours frozen with ice. read more

Nice people but food was tasteless. They need to step up there game here. Carnitas taco was all fat. Had to send it back. Also no flavor.

We pulled into Taos and we were famished. We looked online and the reviews for this spot were great! We walked in and there was a huge group that was celebrating a birthday. A great sign for us - they were all speaking Spanish! They're very new, they did not have an alcohol license yet. We ordered a combination plate with chicken tamales, relleno and cheese enchilada. We had it with both green sauce and red sauce, it's called Christmas sauce or divorciados. Awesome to get both sauces - it was so good! We also ordered shrimp la Diablo. It was amazing. It's spicy, so do not order if you cannot handle spicy foods. We ordered a chocolate flan. It was the first time we had ordered dessert in Taos. Glad to have tried to bite but I was not a huge fan. I would definitely come back! read more

Hands down the most flavorless Mexican food I have ever had. Even their house hot sauce lacked character. Stopped in for lunch and ordered fajitas. The sizzling plate it came on is standard, but the totally charred meat and vegetables sticking to it was not. Iced tea was weak. Everything was bland. The highlight was the nice young server who was all alone but trying her best. There are alternatives everywhere. read more

In a brief description, superb quality dishes! We dined her twice in Taos, NM. Excellent preperations and amazingly delicious! read more

Went here because of the good reviews. Yelp reviews really overstated the food, the margaritas and the ambience. We went in full of hope. The green and red chile that smothered my burrito was flat, some mild spice with the green but red was bland. Our margaritas were very watery, not tasty at all. The staff were all very nice. I hate to give a low review but not sure who wrote the other reviews. Maybe people who had never tasted Mexican food so had no frame of reference. read more

My first time to visit Taos and I loved it. After so many hours of driving, I checked Yelp for a good recommendation for lunch! Sabor Real was listed with a 4.8 rating and sounded great! It was also about 5 minutes from our location! There was a patio outside in front and wa walked in to a good size dining room and a second room to our left. Great place for parties and larger groups. Our server greeted us and said "sit wherever you like." There were 3 tables that were occupied so we sat next to the front window. We were given water and our menus. Our server returned to take our order. My husband quickly asked "what is your best dish?" Response, "we are known for our tamales and chile rellenos." Sold!!!! Hubs got the tamales with Christmas chile and I ordered the chile rellenos! Hubs said the tamales were very good, but wished he had asked for more chile. We both enjoyed the rice & beans, and my rellenos were absolute Perfection‼. Stuffed with lots of cheese, lightly breaded, and most importantly stem removed and pan fried!!! The only con was the menu says their plates come with guacamole, but it was nothing more than a 1/2 teaspoon size added to a bit of lettuce for decoration! read more

He - California burrito smothered with red. She - carne asada taco and shrimp taco. Both - side order of (homemade) nachos with salsa and guac. Probably the best Mexican food I've had in my 2.5 years here in Taos. Sauce was tasty - burrito and tacos were superb. Located on paseo del Pueblo Norte near the post office. Great ingress/egress. Super tasty and came with excellent service. Will definitely be back. read more

Food was excellent. Different than Michael's but such a good home-made flavor. I had the omelette with all the veggies and bacon, added green chili. She had breakfast enchiladas with red chili. Side of crispy bacon. I asked for my potatoes to be well done but got the usual "medium rare" the way everyone serves them. I don't complain as it just too much of a hassle to get them well done. I don't want to send my plate of hot food back just for that. Still they were very tasty and I cleaned my plate. Columbian coffee was very good. Service here was friendly and efficient. I sense it is mostly family working here. The interior is basically what Bearclaw left behind. Simple, comfortable, basic. The dining room was very clean, as was the restroom. I'd do this again in a heartbeat. read more

For reasons that I can't quite understand, when I search Mexican restaurants in Taos, it doesn't even come up on this site. It should! I came in here because the restaurant down the street I was headed to was too busy. I needed to eat so I didn't even look this place up. I just took a chance. Sometimes it pays to just take a chance! I got a pork tamale with the red chile sauce. Wow! The masa was light, the pork was tender and flavorful, and the red sauce was out of this world! I will be back. Please, please come and support this wonderfully run, clean, fantastic place to eat. read more

Stumbled on to this place. Food was so good. Best place I've eaten in Taos. Had the Cameron de la Diabla it was so delicious! This will be my new go to spot, when in Taos! read more

The food is always really good and affordable, with great service. I highly recommend

Great food, great service. I had the huevos rancheros, so good! The rest of the party had pancakes and breakfast tacos. Everyone shared bites and we all left with the same feeling that it was the best breakfast. Thank you, Sabor Real. read more

This family owned Taos treasure should be protected at all costs. Axyl is one of the most delightful people I've had the pleasure of speaking with in Taos. We've ate here twice already this week and will be making this a regular stop as often as we can. We've had 6 items here and they were all spectacular. Just watch out that red sauce packs a punch. I might just stop in daily for an aqua fresca fix. Don't walk run to this amazing establishment. read more

Delicious food, friendly service, fair prices. Ordered tacos- asada, barbacoa and al pastor. Green and red salsas outstanding, too

I was very excited for the opportunity to have breakfast chilaquiles while in New Mexico. Savor Real is a legit small business run by an older Hispanic couple. My son had the breakfast burrito smothered with green chili sauce, and I had the chilaquiles with chorizo and fried eggs. It was amazing, and I would definitely return. read more

If you are wandering through this area and want to know what food besides Michael's Kitchen is around. Look no further this us where you want to be. Their menu is extensive for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Prices are extremely reasonable. From a Washington persons perspective it was amazingly cheap! The servings are enormous so be ready for a take away or to be in a delicious food coma after eating here. There are great savory options for a breakfast packed with protein but don't overlook their pancakes. The menu gives you options to pick and chose what you want (in my case: a tamale and a pancake) If you like a little bit of spice don't forget to ask for their spicy red sauce it is stellar with the tamale. It feels like a comfortable hole in the wall place that only the locals would know about. It seems this is a pretty well kept secret spot. So keep it secret keep it safe read more

The food was excellent, just like my mom used to make! We had the three taco plate. Very tasty.

Excellent food and service. The green chili is delicious and just spicy enough. We went with a group of 8 and had chili cheese fries, breakfast burrito, tacos, breakfast enchiladas, and chicken burrito. Literally everything was outstanding. read more

I love this place for both its Mexican and New Mexican food. Red and green are both great. The people are very nice. The large space is airy and pretty. Looks like they can accommodate large groups well. I'll keep coming back. read more

Better than average, standard Mexican family restaurant. Very good service. The space is surprisingly large.

We had breakfast on a Saturday morning. The service was quick and efficient and they kept the fresh coffee coming, even though I drink decaf. The food was seasoned well and the portions generous. read more

Outstanding fresh food, very calm interior design. Really the perfect dining experience. We consider ourselves foodies, so the bar is a bit high. I had the shrimp fajitas and for the first time, the shrimp were perfectly cooked and so tasty! Both homemade salsas were amazing, but not for the faint of heart. My table mates exclaimed over their rellanos, combination plate and carne adovada. We enjoyed it so much, we ordered a breakfast burrito to share for on the way out of town the next morning... equally as tasty as the fare the evening before. They'll be in our rotation for sure. Oh, before I forget, the Fresca de Sandia! If you like watermelon, this is your drink!!!!! read more

Super delicious! We had chilaquiles with carne asada Christmas, and everything on the plate was amazing! The beans, and hash browns were bomb! If you're looking for good red chile this is the place! Very nice staff, and cute atmosphere. Definitely will be back when we're in Toas again. read more

We arrived hungry at an odd time of day (3:30pm), but that was no issue. We were seated and served promptly and with a smile. Fish taco plate has fresh white chunks of fish sautéed with jalapeños/onions/tomatoes, and crisp shredded lettuce on soft white corn tortillas. Delicious rice and beans. The cheese enchilada plate is so generous and tasty. Ordered the tangy red sauce. Not too spicy, but for those who need more heat, there are condiments for that: red and green. Refreshing iced tea with lemon. Excellent service. Solid place for breakfast, lunch, or early dinner. Would return again. read more

We stopped in for a quick meal before an event we were attending. It isn't often that you get a wowee delicious surprise when taking a chance on a new place. We shared the huge Carne Asada Quesadilla. Absolutely delicious. In the same week, we returned for a slower-paced yummy dinner - Enchiladas with red and green sauce, beans, and posole. The green had a different sort of mild (sweeter?) taste to me - perhaps a regional recipe I had not encountered before. The service was perfect. While we preferred the smaller side room for a cozier ambiance, the larger room seemed perfect for larger parties and families. Well done Sabor Real! read more

The food, the service, AMAZING!!! The couple was so sweet and attentive and the food was incredible! Definitely wanna go back!
