    Pro King Salmon
    Sharon G.

This is the best chef in Taos presently. Exquisitely cooked, artfully presented, professionally served. A tired space rebirthed as an intimate and chic, contemporary vibe with open kitchen. Having lived in France, I know my food and wine. The duck confit and pork belly pistachio terrine with rosemary bread pudding was otherworldly. The Ora (New Zealand) King Salmon with fennel, sweet baby peppers, shaved summer squash and potato purée was an insanely creative blend of flavor. The only addition I would appreciate would be a classic Burgundian red or white and/or quality Italian red option in the space limited wine selection to accompany the masterful menu. Run. Don't walk.

This place was unexpected! In so many ways! The atmosphere, the service, the music and especially the food! The staff was so attentive and helpful in our selections. The music was beautiful, Hermanos Guitterez playing in the background. Soft lighting. We had cocktails to start. Definitely recommend the spritz! Then wine to go with dinner. I loved the short selection that was curated just for the food. Now the food, let's get into that. You know when you take a bite of something and at first your eyes go wide with a "what is happening in my mouth" reaction? It was that. Then you get to the eyes rolling into the back of your head and you just close them in sweet ecstasy. The flavors were combinations of things you'd never think of. Textures that complimented each other so well. We sat there in amazement and joy. Each bite was heavenly. This was an experience. We will definitely be back next time we're in Taos. I will say- and this is nothing against Lamberts, because the food there was delicious as well- but I'd choose this place over Lamberts. The food was just that much more amazing. Just throwing that out there!

This is an amazing restaurant. We were here 1 day shy of it 1 year anniversary. Kevin and Meg are an amazing couple who obviously care deeply about their craft. I have read other reviews and see that the menu items are very different which is a very positive statement for how much care goes into their preparation. All we can say is that all the dishes we had were excellent and greatly enjoyed. We cannot recommend this special place highly enough. Note that Kevin preps and cooks ALL OF THE FOOD including the deserts by himself! Respect.

Definitely way too overpriced. The quality of the food came nowhere near reflecting the price.

It was Bernice who made this place special…read more We wanted chili but had to switch to Sagebrush because we got to Taos after many places closed. But Bernice's welcome, kindness and excellent service made all the difference. She gave us a taste of Scottish beer to make sure we liked it. We did. She gave us a taste of green and red chili, which I guess is what Taos means is chili--not the bowl of meat and beans we had in mind. So at 8:30pm, we settled for a loaded baked potato, and black beans & roasted corn, and carrot cake. They were tasty but the corn and beans had the dreaded Canola. Bernice completely understood our avoidance of the "bad" oils. We minimized it on just the one side dish. We were hungry. But please owners, switch to lard! Or butter. It's the trend and you'll get more business. It costs about $.50 a plate more. We"ll pay it. Many will. It was quiet and restful dining. Sagebrush was across the street from our hotel, so we were grateful we had no more driving on an 11 hour day from Flagstaff.

This was a must stop recommended by many people so we were happy to secure a reservation and dine there. Ambiance was nice, we enjoyed the warm lighting and how it was inside an old historic catholic church. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable as well. I will say- the food was decent but it was nothing extravagant or to write home about like others have mentioned in the past. A lot of items on the menu have like one or two ingredients that I feel throw the dish off, so it was difficult deciding what to get there. We ordered the cornbread, mussels, the trout and the bison when we went for dinner. By far my biggest complaint with the whole experience was the fact that it is a cash only establishment, with no ATM even available on the property. You have to drive beforehand to the closest Allsups and withdraw whatever you feel will be the most for the check plus gratuity. This really limits what you can/can't get on the menu depending on how much cash you bring. I personally do not enjoy feeling limited by that or having to do math at the table in my head to make sure I got enough to cover it all. This also makes people look at the menu beforehand maybe online to get a good idea before driving to said gas station. They say on the website it's because "By forgoing transaction fees, we can better support our employees, serve organic food, and boost our local economy." but in reality I believe it's because they do not want to pay credit card fees and whatnot. Their sister restaurant Manzanita (which we also dined at) was not cash only though which was odd if they are related, so something isn't lining up at The Love Apple. We still had the best time with each others company which matters the most celebrating a special occasion, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to tell everyone that they gotta go there when they are in Taos.

She even gave us a heads up that she was also handling a 7-top table and made sure we could get our order in before theirs since it was just the two of us. Thought that was really thoughtful and great service. We started with the salsa, queso, guacamole, and a Caesar salad for appetizers and everything was delicious. A great way to kick off the meal. For the main course we both went with the steak fajitas. The steak was a little on the tough side, but overall still really good and heavily seasoned. The portion is generous too. One order could easily be split between two people. It comes with rice, beans, cheese, pico, and three tortillas. The restaurant itself is super charming. It's inside the historic Taos Inn and you can really feel the history in the space. The atmosphere alone makes the experience memorable. Would highly recommend checking out Doc Martin's if you're visiting Taos. Great service, great atmosphere, and a solid meal.
