Yum! Pizza super tasty and delivery was fast! Will def order from them again and try the deep dish!

Came back for a pick up over the weekend and it ran somewhat smoothly. They have just enough staff to manage the resturant but someone who would look over things on the other side of the counter, the pizza cutter was grabbing boxes and writing #s on them when he had four pizzas to cut in front of him. The register girls are always so nice and sweet especially when customers are early for their pickups, they're introduced to the resturants newly added wine and beer list. Their pick up times are unbelievably amazing, 20 minutes for a thin and about 25-30 for a pan, no other high quality pizza will offer these times. It would be great to see more social media presence and the owner to come in and talk to the eat ins. Wish i lived closer so we can get pizza more often! I was excited to try this pizza after reading about it in the Tribune. Very disappointed. Did not measure up to the hype. I opted for the thin crust. Ordering on line I requested extra sauce. I think I got less sauce. Barely any tomato sauce on it. I ordered 3 ingredients, sausage, black olives, and spinach. While the amount of sausage was just enough, it was woefully short on the other 2 ingredients. Especially at $2.75 a pop. They easily could have almost doubled those ingredients without overwhelming the pie. After this experience I don't know if I'm going to try the pan version. I'd rate this is the best slightly below average pizza on the North Shore. I suggest Panino's or Malnati's for a much better thin crust. Those places are not as good as Piece Pizzeria on North Avenue in Chicago but much better than Lefty's for my taste. read more

Can't vouch for the food because I never got it. Placed an online order. FIRST MISTAKE. DO NOT USE ONLINE ORDERING. When I called to confirm they got the order the young woman on the phone told me they had the order (remember this for later) but it would be 90 minutes, so I asked if she could change to pickup. No problem, I'm told. I show up 35 minutes later to pick up my order. They tell me there's been a miscommunication and it's out for delivery! Which aggravated me--however the young manager did not seem particularly concerned or sorry and asked me what my problem was. When I explained that I had spend an extra 20-30 min driving needlessly, he shrugged it off. But here's the kicker-- he says oh wait what was the name? He goes to check my ticket and guess what? SOMETIMES THE ONLINE ORDER SYSTEM DOESN'T SEND ORDERS TO THE KITCHEN. so I asked for a full refund at this point and walk out. They couldn't even give me a receipt for my refund. I'm not saying I'll make it my life's work to bring down Lefty's Pizza but there are too many great pizza places to bother with a place that has so little concern or interest in its customers or its systems. If you read through these reviews you'll see a consistent issue with service and attitude. I saw it in firsthand and it's not pretty. And I won't be back unless the mystery owner contacts me directly. read more

Very, very good. We initially tried the deep dish weeks ago, but not being a deep dish fan, I thought there was too much bread. We tried the thin slice and it is great. Generous, fresh toppings and my husband brought it homr it was still piping hot. We have a new pizza place now! Thank you Lefty's. read more

At 13, we jews become adults, responsible for our own decisions, actions and spirituality. Since my 13th year, when I had my first brush with the divine, I have believed that there is but one true Pizza god and that deity's name is "Pequods." If you forsake the LORD and serve foreign gods, He will turn and bring disaster on you and your internet will crash. On my train-ride home on Tuesday a neighbor told me a tale of a former cook at Burt's Pizza (founded by Pequod's co-owner) who had opened a place called "Lefty's" in Wilmette. As the story went, the Pizza was fantastic. He spoke of a miracle that was thrust upon him in the form of a pan, a vision of a caramelized crust, full flavored sauce and sublime seasoning "as great as Pequod's" he said. Heresy!!! How can that be?? I had planned to go there with the kids last night fully intending to prove him wrong. Last night I wound up working late, but my clan went without me. I came home to 2 leftover slices, brought to me by Lefty's newest converts. Although it was cold when I dug in... I was stunned by the taste... almost identical to Pequod's. The sauce just a hair sweeter and... dare I say it... the crust may have been better? I warmed up a second piece and... I think I'd be hard pressed to pick a winner. Crust better.. sauce.. different but still good. Could there by a new Pizza God? Have I forsaken thee? Daughter #2 asked her mom "why aren't all Pizza's like this" "The Crust Mom.. The Crust!" And Daughter #1 went on and on about their craft root beer in a frosty mug so cold that the the root beer froze just a bit. These are dangerous times. Heavenly Pizza in walking distance, a belief system in tatters, and delivery available. Er... maybe that's "deliverance" available. ;) My only chance is if Wilmette installs defibrillators on every corner or that Lefty's will offer Lipitor as one of their toppings. read more

The pizza was ok, the customer service was horrible. I called to order three pizzas. The woman on the phone was nice enough but didn't know what to do when I said I wanted to pay by credit card. She put the phone down for a few minutes and then someone picked up asking if they could help me. I repeated the order. She took the card number and said it would be an hour. An hour later, the driver arrived. I ordered 3 pizzas. He had 2. 1 was correct. He then gave me the receipt and said they had trouble running my credit card and asked me to write down the info. My full credit card number, the expiration date and security code were written on it, a copy of the original still at the store. I told him I was not comfortable with this and game him cash. He said he'd be back with my missing pizza. I called the store and told the woman answering about my pizza trouble and my concern over the credit card info. She didn't know what to do so she got the owner. John came on. He asked me "how's it going?" I asked if he was kidding. I repeated what he had already been told. He asked what he should do. I asked what he thought he should do. He didn't have any idea, so I said he should start by not writing down the info from his customer's credit cards. Fraud is too common, and mine have been used before. He said they throw them away at the end of the night. I told him for me that wasn't good enough. Up to you if you want to take a chance ordering here. I'll be avoiding this place as there are too many other options with a better product, much better customer service, and a respect for their customers. read more

My husband placed an order online for delivery but received an error message. He called to confirm if the order went through and was told it hadn't. He placed it again this time over the phone. He checked credit card and realized he was charged both times. He called Lefty's again was told that was his problem to resolve. I then called and asked to speak to the manager. I explained what happened and the 'manager' began YELLING at me that they are the busiest pizza place in the north shore and weren't trying to steal anyone's money. I Couldn't get a word in. He then said if I was going to come in holding my husbands hand with proof of the 2 charges.... WOW! So disrespectful! I've NEVER had worse customer service. I was so upset I called him a douche bag and of course he hung up on me. So unprofessional. read more

I'm going to give this place another shot as I know they just opened up and are working out the kinks as any new restaurant would do. I was also a bit skeptical as ALL the reviews gave the place the top ratings - I can see that being the case for a review or two, but 8, 5 star reviews seems a bit sketchy. Regardless, I always want to support local businesses and here was my experience... Ordering by phone was easy and when I went to pick-up my 12" thin crust the place was super clean and the staff very friendly. However, what struck me as odd was the pizza prep person was actually pouring pizza sauce directly from an oversized can of pre-made sauce onto pizzas waiting to be baked. Also, the base price was fine, but charging $2.50 per extra ingredient seemed a bit excessive. Hopefully, Lefty's can get it Righty on my next visit and if that's the case, I'll be sure to update my review. read more

We had a pan pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms and a thin crust cheese. Both styles were delicious - plenty but not too much sauce, good proportions of toppings, perfectly cooked. Nice big ceasar salad with fresh ingredients and tasty dressing. Friendly and thoughtful staff. We'll be back for sure. read more

I really wanted to like this pizza. It gets a C-. We ordered a large pan pepperoni. The sauce to crust ratio was horrible. You can not skimp on the sauce. It has to cover the entire pizza. By the way, put some pepperonis on as well. At $2.75 a topping, you have to load that baby. Unfortunately, the crust was very dry. If you are going to overcharge because you are the new guy in town, you have to come to the table. I like that a new restaurant came to town, but I'll go Piero's and Barnaby's all day long. These guys are passionate about pizza and you can taste it! Ordered a thin crust and it was nice - crispy and cheesy. it was great but sounds like their pan pizza is even better. The style of the pan is similar to a downtown joint but with way better service. The owner, his business partner and even father stopped by the table to socialize. I had some family members tell me about this place when it opened. After seeing pictures I requested they bring me one all the way to Kansas City. It was worth it. Even after being frozen and reheated the pan, sausage pizza we had was better than any pizza within 200 miles. Great ingredients. I can't wait to get in and try one right from the oven. We moved to the area 8 years ago and had been looking for great pizza. The search is over. I'm a thin crust fan but others in the family are deep dish fans. We ordered 1 of each and both received rave reviews. The thin pizza was perfect with crispy crust, great sausage and sauce. Great pizza. The pan and thin crust both do not disappoint. The sausage they use is superior to the other pizzerias in the area. Although the inside seating only fits 30 or so, downtown Wilmette is the perfect area for this quaint pizza joint. I would highly recommend stopping in or carrying out. Just picked up 4 small thin pizza's for co-workers. Everyone is raving about the pizza. Everything about the pizza is fantastic! Flavorful sauce, perfect seasoning to the sausage, crust just thin enough to maintain crispness. The group agreed that the toppings were abundant, perfect amount of cheese and sauce. Have only had the deep dish and must say this pizza is top notch. Has the Pequod's style but Lefty's is above and beyond Pequod's. For deep dish, this is only second to Lou's in my book. Had sausage/mushroom this past weekend and was full of flavor. Will try the thin crust next. Oh, and the people there are extremely friendly. Great spot! We always get it to go: pan pizza in the style of Burt Katz. It's legit. One day we'll do a head-2-head with Pequods and Burt's Place. But for now Lefty's is our go to to go. Good pan. The thin crust is really unique (in a good way) with a thin, yet substantial floor and a great edge. read more

Let me just say that I had the WORST day. Y'all know what it is, sometimes the stress of life really hits you. All I thought to myself all day was mannn I really need some fried pickles and pizza. But every place I go to just never hits the spot. HOWEVER, when I found Lefty's pizza kitchen my day got so much brighter. The aroma was just amazing before I opened the box. This place has a friendly environment, amazing fried pickles, delicious pizza, and basically anything on that menu is guaranteed to brighten up your day just a little more. We started with Due in 1955 with Lou Malnati there and have gotten pizzas from too many to count since. We prefer Lefty's over Malnati for pizza flavor, ingredient balance and preparation. We prefer thin crust/sausage.They are hard working and considerate people who deserve support for their efforts. They deliver in these tough times. Hmmm . . . I hate to write a bad review but this pizza was horrible. The bottom crust was raw and doughy. I came here because I saw the review on t.v. and it looked really good. I was looking forward to a pan pizza with that burnt crispy crust. The crust was burnt which was good. But the rest of the crust was raw and disgusting. I had to throw it away. I think Jets has better pizza and cheaper. I wouldn't mind the price but it was not edible. I threw away the entire pizza and $37 dollars. What a shame. read more

We tried Lefty's the weekend after it opened. Yes, it was a bit crazy, to be expected. The pizza was so delicious we returned...again and again. Last weekend we ordered pizza for out of town friends and they, too, found it to be the BEST! It has now become our regular Friday night pizza (used to be the "other" big name Wilmette pizza place). The sauce, the crust, the fresh and delicious toppings...nothing negative to say. We use the online ordering and it works great! Called last week to clarify something and could not have had better, more friendly customer service. It's our new go-to on Friday nights. read more

Our last experience will be the last. The first Pizzas we had there were great. We overlooked the disorganization and the added wait time (1/2 hour at least). The third time they were less organized with more people and the additional wait time was longer. More importantly it was not good, not even close to our original order. The salad was mostly croutons. read more
