    Special St. Paul

I'm working in St.Louis this week and wanted to try something local. I learned about the St. Paul sandwich. It's egg foo yong on white bread with mayo pickles and lettuce. When I did my google search for the best one in town Lefty's was at the top of the list. They mastered Urban Eats with this masterpiece sandwich. I loved it!!! So damn good and really well made! The place is cool, like an old time pub with a cool back wall menu. The sweet lady behind the counter was so pleasant and organized she was busy but handled it with a cool flow with patients and efficiency. The service was top shelf, I ordered the St. Paul and dragon wing combo with voodoo rice. This dish is their trademark. It's Cajun fried rice done so good you have to get some. The combo comes with 2 crab Rangoon too. Thank you Lefty's for your terrific food and awesome hospitality.

The food here is ! I enjoyed talking to the owner, very polite and customer service is off the chain and the setting is sexy as hell. I give this place a 25 out of 10! Wish them more success..

Quick facts: Black owned , STL style Chinese food. Prepare for street parking. Service was typical of a fast casual restaurant. Easy to order online. Food: I tried the fried rice and chicken wings, both were too salty for my preference.

Salmon, Rice, Broccoli. Hot Braised sauce,(4) Crab Rangoon, Orange soda

I'm a huge supporter of Black-owned businesses BUT anyone who has ever recommended Lefty's Fried Rice should never be allowed to review anything, ever! It was disgusting! I called them before posting on Yelp but they don't answer their phone. How do you mess up Crab Rangoon?!? The wrapper was older than Methuselah! There was no crab or rangoon. All four of them (tried one, spit it out) couldn't fill one regular crab rangoon! The Hot Braised Sauce was horrible! I can't imagine this sauce on anything served to people. Broccoli?!? This tasted like the very back of the freezer! The Salmon was fishy in the worst possible way. It smelled so terrible I had to take it to the dumpster! To mess up seafood on Good Friday in the 314 is truly a sin. Just one bite of the Crab Rangoon and one bite of Salmon, Rice and Broccoli has me praying I don't have food poisoning! The orange soda was fine.

Chicken wings and fried rice. Looks better than it tastes.

First time trying this place and likely my last. I've always heard good things about Lefty's and now I cannot understand why. The chicken wings which I ordered crispy, were over seasoned with cumin I believe and they were also very salty. The fried rice didn't have meat in it which I've never seen in a combination plate, and it was dry and a little bitter tasting. The only thing that was good was the egg roll. Even the broccoli I added extra wasn't good. So disappointed

I wanted to try Lefty's Fried Rice. This is a Black owned restaurant. There were tablecloth on the tables. They had beautiful murals on the walls. This place is a gem. The portion sizes are plentiful. The fried rice is very good. The chicken and broccoli doesn't remind me of Chinese takeout. But it is good. The same think can be said for their lomein. The dragon wings were okay. I've had better. I noticed the couple sitting near me had the egg fu young. The portion was huge and looked amazing. They also had hot braised and voodoo fried rice. I must go back and try the egg fu young. The us parking on the street. They have a pac man video game. They cater food too. The young man that took our order was very patient and even offered suggestions.

I can't remember the last time I had Fried Rice and wings! Lefty's lived up to the memory! Rice was definitely St. Louis style..meaning eggs and onions only. You'll have to add veggies if that's what you want. I added bean sprouts and Loved! Counter style ordering and mainly to go but very nice option if you choose to dine in. Lots of tables, spacious and clean. Service was quick and pleasant. Will return.

One of the 2 only African American owned Chinese restaurants in St Louis The presentation of the food is unmatched .The packaging and quantity for the price is the best in town. Give them a try!!

When we pulled up, there was a line but it moved quicker than we thought. Once we got inside, we were both surprised at how small it was. While I've yet to go to Japan, it def gives off the vibe strictly from ambiance and the decor. It's small but intimate and offers seats at the "bar", as well as communal seating. We didn't get a choice and were sat at the bar. Ordering is done through the QR code and water is offered self-serve. We split an order of the appetizers: house cucumbers and karaage. I'm not a huge cucumber fan but I tried it. I preferred the one with miso as I found it to be more subtle in taste. The chicken was average and didn't wow me. We each got the chicken shoyu with no pork, no scallions and an extra egg. It felt like it took a long time to get our food. We were both surprised once we got it as we were expecting actual chicken pieces but after rereading the menu description, it was chicken oil. He was a bit disappointed as both our dishes were covered in scallions. I suggested we not send it back since it took quite a while to get our food and they were close to closing. Nevertheless, I found the broth to be tasty and full of flavor despite there being no meat. Overall, it was a solid first visit.

The fried tofu is an absolute must order. I don't know how they got it that crispy and crunchy, but it was perfectly flavored too. The grilled tofu was also really good and flavorful. The broth managed to be incredibly rich and deeply savory-sweet all at once, without ever feeling heavy. Even with a line stretching out the door when we arrived, the wait wasn't tedious, and we reached the counter reasonably fast. The ordering process is standard counter service, but the staff member who took our order was incredibly nice, polite, and helpful, practically predicting my questions as I was looking over the menu. They do pan fried or steamed dumplings (pork, chicken, beef, or shrimp filling), with cucumber salad or broccoli as a side option. I think they might also have boba and fruit tea but given I'd already made a boba trip that day I didn't order any. My husband and I ordered steamed beef and pan fried chicken dumplings to share, plus cucumber salad. The employee gave good recommendations on which meat went best with each cooking style. Our food came out quickly. I enjoyed everything we ordered. The cucumber salad needed a little bit more oomph but it was nothing some of the chili oil on the table couldn't fix. My favorite was the steamed beef dumplings. They were super rich and savory. The chicken dumpling wasn't quite as crispy as I'd expected and the broth almost had a slightly sweet quality to it. It was good, just a little different than what I expected. I'm very glad I got to try these dumplings! This wasn't a super gigantic or hugely filling meal so I'd probably order one extra side (the broccoli looked great and I kinda wish my husband had sided with me on ordering it, lol) just to round things out if I returned.
