After four months of no oil deliveries, Leffler Energy inexplicably decided to deliver oil to my home in the middle of a July heat wave--despite the fact that my home uses oil solely for heating, not hot water. There is absolutely no logical reason for this delivery to have taken place in the dead of summer. Naturally, I called to inquire why this happened. I was told someone from the delivery department would call me back. That was over two weeks and three phone calls ago, and I've still heard nothing. The complete lack of communication and accountability is appalling. If this is how they handle something as basic as a delivery inquiry, I can't imagine how they'd respond to a real emergency. This is a deeply disorganized, unresponsive company. Spare yourself the frustration and go with someone who values their customers' time and trust. I have been a loyal Leffler Energy customer for over 20 years, typically receiving one or two fill-ups each year. However, my recent experience on 12/4/25 was unacceptable and has ended my relationship with your company. On that date, I received 183 gallons of heating oil at $4.97 per gallon. After noticing that the average price for oil that day was around $3.45 per gallon, I called your customer service line to address the discrepancy. The first representative I spoke with said she would automatically take $0.10 off per gallon and could not do anything else until the truck returned and paperwork was completed. She assured me that a customer service representative would call back to negotiate a better price. After two missed calls, I called back and spoke with a gentleman who had a very serious tone and was unwilling to listen. He stated the bill was final and nothing could be done. When I expressed my concern about the significant price difference, he dismissed it and insisted on payment over the phone. I declined and said I would pay within 30 days. This experience was extremely disappointing. After two decades of loyalty, I expected fair treatment and reasonable pricing. Instead, I felt dismissed and pressured. They came to house a vast number of times the past two years due to a horrible smell coming from the heater and I was feeling sick! Not once did one of those men check to see if my heater was cracked! I and my dogs suffered carbon moxicide poisoning! When the heater finally stopped working this past month the man pulls out the heater and says oh well you're heater is cracked!? I'm surprised that you're alive! read more

After signing up to have fuel oil delivered as a new customer I was informed that a tank inspection was required before any deliveries would be made. Of course our tank failed the test. Our tank was not very accessible and the test amounted to sliding a cell phone camera under the tank and taking pictures of the bottom. There were a couple spots that were darker than the normal red shade of the tank. These were 'potential' rust areas. They put me in touch with an 'independent' tank sales company that sold me a new tank for $3200!! Finally today, we had our old tank removed. It was built in and had to be cut apart to remove. I was able to inspect the bottom of the tank from inside and out and found no areas where there were "rust" spots. We don't do business with Leffler anymore. read more

I often got two bills per delivery- one with a discount for early payment and the other with no discount. I ended up with a significant credit and then they charged me for a service estimate for the same amount - down to the penny. Just a little sketchy. I know oil heating is expensive. I started living in the current house three years ago. The first year was full of surprises with the extremely high oil bill, but I thought it was how it was and I had to suck it up and deal with it. Second year came around, and the rate went down a little. I learned how expensive it was hard way in my first year, so I set my thermostat really low. The house was cold, but I still got very expensive bills. That's all I could do. The price of everything is very unclear and unknown. In many cases untold. I have just received a contract renewal bill. When I called in about a month ago about renewing the contract, they explained the fixed and variable rate. But they never told me exactly how much the "renewal" fee. The renewal fee I received this year was about $100 more expensive, with no notice, no explanation, no rationale, nothing. It was just showed up on my account. I will try to look into other oil provider in the area. This is really ridiculous. read more

Update, 01/14/2024: They called today. They asked again if I was out of oil. Once again I told them yes. I was informed by the customer rep I spoke to that they would look into having oil sent out but it wouldn't be until tomorrow. Which I was told I would have a full oil delivery by yesterday at the latest. What was the point of even calling me? I was told yesterday that I wouldn't be getting it delivered until Tuesday as that was when they would be in my area. I have been out of oil since Friday when I called and gave them a $750 deposit! They have no problems taking money for people yet don't back up what they say when you are told oil will be delivered. Highly disappointed. I called yesterday to start as a new customer with them as I recently moved into a house with oil heat. After paying a crazy fee for a security deposit due to having just gone through a divorce and my credit is shot, as well as letting them know I was total out of oil (which is the only thing used to heat our house) I was told by the customer representative that I would receive an oil delivery either that day, yesterday or today. Well, it's almost 5pm and still no oil. I called to inquire about why I have not received any oil yet and was told it is only scheduled to be delivered on Tuesday! That is a total of 4 days without heating oil! I never received a call stating the change and had I at least been informed of this it wouldn't have been as bad. If this is how they treat new customers I would hate to see how customers that have been with them for years are treated. read more

Leffler came out to check our AC unit.of course there were so many things old with that and it was so very old so they told me that they were me $200 for him to fix it. They were going to waive the $99 charge. Well of course when the statement came they did not $99 charge and it was still on the bill. I asked them to send me a corrected invoice so I could pay it. They never did. They added it to my budget amount now they're telling me that past due, but I pay my budget payment every single month. They have called my house five times in the last 10 days, this is not the first time we've had problems with Leffler We have more often than not problems. They came out check our furnace this spring and they said it was terrible and it was in terrible shape so of course we got a bunch of calls from people that were from Leffler and how we could buy a new one from them.so we had another company come out and examine our furnace, our furnace is old, but it is an excellent condition. It is an excellent unit and it is still in perfect shape no issues other than age makes you wonder about leffler doesn't it? read more

We have always had good service with them. That being said I had a chimney inspection $136.00 and the chimney contractor talked us in to doing outside chimney work not inexpensive. This company is the worst company that I have encountered in my entire life. They scam you into a contract without disclosing all of the details and then want to charge you a ridiculous fee to leave. I also requested a quote for a new heater and busted the sales man walking around my property looking in the windows for over 20 minutes before he ever knocked on the door. Thank God for security cameras! We were out of oil on a Saturday and told that we did not qualify for an emergency fill. We went without heat until Monday. On Monday the driver told us we were well within need of an emergency fill and he was available all day Saturday to do such. Now these righteous scam artist want to bill me $500 to leave. read more

We have been a customer for over 22 year and with in the last 3 years they have let us run out of oil at least twice and at the coldest time of year. When I called to complain as to why this happened, they claimed the was a computer problem and would be as soon as the could, REALLY. They have a computer problem around the same time every year when we run out of oil. Not acceptable. Never had this problem when they were Dampman Oil. Shady practices. We used to have them, and had their auto-refill plan, so they would come and supply us on a regular basis, putting in a few hundred gallons now and again. Then, in 2008 the price of oil quickly spiked to well over $4 per gallon, and they made a beeline to cram every drop they could into our 1000-gallon tank. Heard form a few friends they did the same to them. So we dumped them, and will NEVER have a auto-refill plan with anyone ever again. read more

The company CEO sends out $100. gift cards to people who that have left the company because of terrible workmanship or just not showing up to repair their plumbing needs. Mentioned to a friend of mine on Wednesday that I will probably get a delivery on Thursday when the Ukraine war allows Leffler to jump prices. I moved to the Berks County area and I needed a company for my oil & propane needs. Leffler Co. Put a door tag on my home offering a $100 credit if I signed up to " auto fill & pay". As it got colder we used more propane than Leffler Co. had calculated and, we had to call every time to remind them to deliver. So, we decided to buy a bigger propane tank and have it installed & filled. Leffler Co. tried to gouge us with a price over $7000 when one of their competitors actually did the job for under $2000. Knowing this, we decided to cancel our oil & propane deliveries with Leffler Co. When we called Leffler Co. they tried to strong arm us because they had given us that $100 sing up/ auto fill credit. NOW, Leffler wanted $100 back after 9 months had passed. By the way Leffler Co. Propane price was 1.989 vs. their competitors @ $1.099, a difference of .89 per gallon. A savings of $178 for every 200 gallons delivered. Now, I see why Leffler Co. Only received 2 stars out of 5. Should have looked at all reviews FIRST! This companies business practices should be looked by the Pa. Attorney General's office..Perhaps that will be my next call??? read more

I have been a Customer of Leffler for about 20 years. After yesterdays Home Heating Oil delivery, I am most likely done. They charged me $4.20 per Gallon! Yes, not a type-o! $4.20 per gallon! That's over a $1.00 more per gallon then the local average. That's more than they charged a few years ago when Petroleum prices were at an all time high!!! I used to get my Oil Burner serviced every Fall (Oct-Nov) Then about 5 years ago they kept pushing me back to Jan_Feb. Then Mar_April. This year May. I would have rated a 1 star but honestly their Service Techs are very knowledgeable, professional and provide great service. I can deal with that but not the High Fuel Prices! It is sickening to see the company advertise for former Worley and Obetz customers when they cannot even take care of those they have now. We have their platinum service plan but that does not give us any preference. This winter they rescheduled our furnace cleaning twice and finally serviced it in the Spring instead of the fall when it should have been done. We had a no heat service call with the platinum plan and they finally made it to our house at 5PM, and I took off from work and had planned to go in a bit late. Absolutely poor customer service. WORST COMPANY EVER!! WOULD GIVE THEM A NEGATIVE 50 IF I COULD! Had a service contract with them for 3 years. Every year I had to wait until September to get my air conditioning check up and had to wait until March to have my furnace checked because they were "busy". In September of this year, they sent a technician to do an air conditioning check up that didn't know how to operate my thermostat and had to be shown how to use it by my 19 year old daughter!! The "technician" (I use the term loosely) was there for 15 minutes. When I arrived 3 hours later I walked into the house and it was 75degrees and muggy. I checked the breakers and no breakers were disabled. I called Leffler and was told that they couldn't send a repairman to check the system because someone was just there and it was getting dark soon. They finally sent someone the next afternoon and claimed that the condensate pump needed to be flushed and left a bill for $99 for a service call even though I had a service contract! (the system was working fine before he arrived) After numerous calls to the office they finally waived the $99 service fee. (they kept sending me a bill and I had to call repeatedly to get fee waived). I ended up buying a new furnace and air conditioning system from another company.(The system was 20 years old) I called Leffler and asked for a refund on the 6 months of my service contract and was told that because I bought a new system from someone else their would be no refund. I explained that I never received the heating checkup for my system yet but they wouldn't budge. My contract runs from May to May. BEWARE OF LEFFLER ENERGY!!! read more

Had them for my auto del for oil. First, we ran out 2x even though we were on auto delivery. WORST- when our contract was over I cancelled one month prior to contact ending letting them know I did not want to renew. They still delivered oil in September, November and January. I had a different company so it wasn't much oil each time. I called after EACH delivery to tell them we were cancelled. Every time I called their person at Leffler said they had no record of me calling. I even emailed them They sent a 123.00 bill for the 3 deliveries, I fought it tooth and nail. They finally sent a collection letter, so I just paid it. Not worth going on my credit. I ran out of oil AGAIN and I am on auto delivery. This id the 3rd time. Of course they couldn't deliver till the next day which they did and put in my additive which is $9.50. Then the following day they came back and put in an additional 9.4 gallons AND another additive which was also $9.50. I was charged $3.489 per gallon. I have Leffler Energy for all my heating & air needs. Today I had an appt for a oil burner cleaning. When my tech Allen Jackson arrived & I took him to the basement it was flooding with stinky water! My grinder pump broke & what a mess. Mr Jackson could have cleaned the heater & left but instead of having to call a plumber he went out of his way to replace my pump. It was not an easy job but he handled it. I am so thankful to him, can you imagine what it would have been like to get a plumber on a Friday afternoon? Beware. Completely unscrupulous company. They charged me 4.05 on my last delivery of 176 gallon!!! I called 3 other companies (2.29 ABC, SAC 2.59, & Sadler 2.59) and were given estimates of half that PPG. I called and raised hell and they offered to give me a credit. I said after 12 years or so as a customer I finally realized you were ripping me off...no thank you. They were unbelievable. Everyone should always check your bill and don't be afraid to shop around to see if you are being taken advantage of. Loyalty is a two way street.They are an example of why this industry need regulated. Don't bother to call in I talked to 3 different people who were abrupt & very rude. It was a waste of an entire evening! There were also 2 no shows on our chimney cleaning that they " contracted out..." oh, and technnician showed up one day early unannounced to service furnace with NO notice. THe very next day which I called off work to be present at service call. I waited and eventually called into Leffler. He had "let hImself in" because he said he knew backk door was open.
