I am EXTREMELY SATISFIED! with the results Custom Plumbing & Heating gave to me for my Sewer pipe issue. This was no small issue and these guys came bright early in the morning, dug up my side walk and in my basement, removed the old COLLAPSED PIPE with a nice and fresh new pipe! After putting the new pipe in they covered the job neatly and are coming in the next day to coat the top with cement. I am writing this review on the same day this was done, once again this was not a small job and they did it so efficiently and i will definitely be using the services of Custom Plumbing & Heating again! read more

Added distilled water to my sump pump battery when the alarm went off (on a Saturday) and I was too intimidated to attempt the required steps to resolve the issue. Got an estimate on Tuesday afternoon from Barry. Left him 2 messages on Wednesday (9:13 am and 2:14pm) with some questions, but mainly wanting to tell him we wanted him to do the work. Finally after another message Thursday morning he calls and said that we waited too long and that he was too busy so we'd have to wait since we have water. We are connected to our neighbor's house through a dirty hose so I get to bathe my baby in rusty water and keep buying water in order to feed him, oh and shower at my sister's since we hardly have any water pressure. Thanks for nothing, I'll make sure the city stops recommending you. read more

Chris the plumber saved the day! He arrived to a newly installed Kohler toilet that did not stop leaking. (He did not install the toilet). He was very professional and friendly. He pulled the toilet, replaced a very rusty & dented flange with a brand new stainless steel flange, reset the toilet with a new wax seal and properly set the tank gasket! Viola! This was absolutely the worst experience with any supposed professional business that I have ever had. On a Wednesday, after dealing with a floor drain in my basement backing up for a few days before, my wife and I resolved to fix the recurring problem with a finality that a professional plumber could provide. On a recommendation from a friend, given on the basis of that person's spouse's former employment with this business, my wife called and made arrangements for someone to come out and unclog our drain, which at this point reeked of raw sewage and desperation on our part - two smells not entirely dissimilar. The representative arrived quickly, which was a relief at first, but as that evening wore on it occurred to me, if only in transience, that my wife was the only person home when the supposed plumber came, and she was caring for our toddler. Perhaps he might have missed something? Maybe, I thought, a dialogue with the worker with someone not taxed with a rambunctious one-and-a-half year old would have been more enlightening for one or both parties. But, as I said, these thoughts were fleeting; the drain didn't overflow, and the toilets didn't flood the basement, and laundry could now get done. It was great. Then, and this is where the story gets downright bizarre, some forty or so hours later, just so many hours since the representative from Custom Plumbing assured my wife after she asked "what if this happens again, is there a warranty?", to which the, ahem, plumber, coolly responded "it won't happen again.", it happened again. Only this time there was more water from before, more gunk. The $295 dollars we gave Custom on the assurance of the quality of their work quickly began to feel like a yolk around our necks, our anxiety the whip, and Custom Plumbing the drunk carriage driver careening us off a cliff. So I called, left a message, which was admittedly a bit tense, but certainly not overbearing, or even trying to imply some incompetence on their part. I just wanted my drain to stop filling with sewage, which with 295 of my dollars, Custom Plumbing assured would not happen again. About ten minutes after I had left the message I got a call back on my wife's phone. A very frantic, high pitched voice was on the line, and after a terse greeting from the voice, which I happily returned, and as I stared out over the recent littoral addition to my basement, we began to get to brass tacks. I told the voice on the line what the problem was, giving pragmatic information on the issue I was dealing with: water in my basement, and not some perceived slight. I gave the depth of the water, some opinion about how quickly it flowed, it's color, and it's smell (neutral), hoping that the voice would be a professional and give me some sage words that would put me at ease until the problem was fixed. Instead, what I got was immediate defensiveness, with the interjection " excuse me, SIR" as to cut me off, derail me from my reasonably stated request for advice and hopefully having someone come out and reassess the problem. Then a deluge of excuses, cagey reasoning spilled out from the voice, which revealed itself to belong to the proprietor of Custom Plumbing. The onslaught of defensive jabs and hyper aggressive tones from this person escalated with every single utterance from him, like a drunk teenager trying to defend their self from authority that's only showing concern. He claims "We could have put a camera down there to see what the problem was.", to which I respond "you didn't offer to.", which he was quick to point out that it cost more and that it wasn't his responsibility as the plumber to give recommendations on fixing any of the plumbing issues I had paid him to fix. It finally reached a crescendo when I issued an ultimatum: fix it, give me my money back, or we waste both our time in small claims court. He threatened me, telling me I was "harassing" him. He had called me back, mind you. At the fever pitch of my indignant rage, my wife snatched the phone from my hand before I said anything actually regrettable, and before he hung up on me, with a lilting voice she assuaged this idiot with gentle words and flowery affectation. He agreed to drop off our check that night, within the hour. A bit more than an hour on and I am standing outside in the snow waiting for him. I see his van pull up to the curb across the street. A surly and haggard man in a hoody and wool cap barreled out of the driver door and with a gait that might look natural for Daffy Duck storming off with his bill blown backwards, he quickly closes the gap between us, check in hand. He got right up to my nose, almost daring me to resort to physical violence in self defense against his absurd closeness. He lifted the check up to his chest, and I took it, thanked him. This is the worst business I've ever encountered. If you have plumbing issues and these yokels are your only option, just learn to live with it. Worst.Plumbers.Ever. read more

He offered us advice on a drain problem we were having and helped us work out a solution that actually cost less in the end than the original quote he gave us. The required permits stalled our project in the middle, but Barry was very careful to keep in touch and keep us updated until the issue was resolved.
