On Sunday at 4pm, we were just tired and craving a comfort meal. Which to us means Asian food. This is our 3rd Lee's adventure, one was in Lincoln City, all 3 were delivered. The lady on the phone was great, very friendly. We ordered broccoli beef, chicken lo mein, crab and cream cheese wonton, and barbecue pork. The predicted time for food to arrive was pretty much spot on, she told me 45 minutes and it arrived in about 40. It is maybe a little more expensive than I would anticipate Chinese food being but a) inflation b) it's the coast and c) they give you a very large amazing ton of food. We will be eating this for days. Cold Chinese for breakfast, yay! It really is very good Chinese food. It arrived piping hot, carefully packaged, all the condiments were present, and we were overall very happy campers. Everything was loaded with protein, which was very tender (probably velveted) and they advertise it as having no msg. Which is cool- although we like MSG, personally. They have a huge variety of choices on their menu. The only things missing I would want are dim sum ( char siu bao, shumai, lobster balls, har gow, XLB) and a Szechuan eggplant type situation. Second time eating here, my food experience was great! The portions are out of this world, twice I taken to go box's, ordered the shrimp lo mein & orange chicken both portions are huge! Each plate Can easily feed three persons, shrimp lo mein had plenty of shrimp! Orange chicken isn't battered fried so it's cooked fresh. We also ordered the crab wontons are delicious & well fried, you'll get like 12ea! Service is low key setting so be patient, looks like low staff not sure if it's family own. We were at the little China Lee area in Newport where the Lee name is connected to the Rodeway Inn that we stayed at that had Lee's Wok in its courtyard parking area and the Lee gas station. So of course we had to try the American Chinese at Lee's Wok before heading out fishing very early the next morning. We ordered a sprig roll and wrapped chicken for appetizers and mixed stir fry and something called Mother's Chicken that was supposed to be spicy. We enjoyed the over sized egg roll as it reminded us of Kim's in Medford where we grew up, not particularly good but nostalgic. The wrapped chicken was really teriyaki chicken thigh wrapped in foil that was really difficult to unwrap. But it tasted good. The stir fry was the best dish and was full of veggies and different proteins. The Mother's chicken was just what we used to call Mar Far chicken which is breaded heavily, deep fried and then coated in a sweet sauce. No spice detected. It was pretty light on the chicken too. The portions were very generous and we took a lot away which we ate after the fishing trip. Tip; it was better after a day and reheating. The service was good and I would give it 3.5 stars but not 4. The lady on the phone was so rude I ordered my food for pick-up when I was 10 mins away. Then I got stuck in traffic and I call back asking for them to hold off on making it because I want my food to be hot. She's says it's ready already and I have to come get it I'm like traffic says i'm 30 mins away can you please hold off on making it and she says no and hangs up. Rude as fuck. Today I went in to Lee's woke, I asked do you use MSG? I explained that I am alergic to MSG that it is life threatening for me! The young man said no we do not use it in our food. So I ordered sweet and sour chicken w/ port fried rice and BBQ pork. Went home ate it. My heart started to race, I new i was in trouble. I new rite then that there was MSG IN THE FOOD. He lied. I could have died. I can never, will never go back. They gave little regard for a life to make money. If you are alergic to MSG avoid that place at all cost. They WILL lie to you and say they don't use it when they do. read more

One of the baristas at the Human Bean recommended Lee's. Hot & Sour soup was a little sweet but I really liked it. Their Potstickers are homemade & HUGE! Six giant tasty dumplings of pure joy. And the Shrimp & Scallop Stir fry from the "weight conscience" menu had a generous amount of seafood & a great variety of tender crisp vegetables, served with a BOWL of rice. First an done! Was recommended don't listen to that guy lol. We waited about eight minutes for someone to make eye contact to seat us. While handling money never knowing if she washed her hands. Another 10 minutes for her to see us sitting there with nothing even though she said to have a seat anywhere. While bussing tables that she didn't clean very well from table to table she picked up a tea pot from another table to return never to know if it was from the last table. It was so dirty I went to pick up my water glass and I could feel the stuck on grossness and grime of many guest that I was discusseded. My husband did not like his food either. He ate the egg flower soup only out of spite (gross) I could not. Everything was coagulated giggling around, lacking flavor, seasoning, cleanliness and service. I had the hunan beef and my wife had the sechaun beef. Both were very good and the meat was extremely tender. The portions were huge and reasonably. priced. The service was friendly and efficient. The food could have been more spicy for our taste but we should have asked to get it spicier. We will go back when in Newport. read more

Solid 4 stars and will definitely be returning for another pick-up order next time we are back in town. The Mongolian beef and chicken chow mein were excellent. The fried rice and orange chicken were also pretty darn good. The honey walnut shrimp was average. Portion sizes are pretty giant! My only complaint was that we had to wait a little longer than expected for our pick-up order. Also, the crab cream cheese rangoons/wontons were only about 2.5 stars. We were hopeful that this would be a good Chinese good restaurant. We were extremely disappointed. It started from the beginning. The egg flower soup was gray and lacked flavor. That should have been our sign to pay and leave but we didn't. Our shrimp egg rolls came out and were disgusting. The egg rolls were so horrible that we both only took one bite and spit the bites out. They were dreadful! Just a couple minutes later out entrees came out. It was just not a good experience at all. The food tasted good. The service was lacking. They took our order and brought our food. Don't expect to have your drink refilled or have anyone stop in and check on you until they bring the boxes and your check. After receiving poor service, the waitress chased us down in the parking lot, demanding more tip. Apparently, 18% is not enough for the poor service we received. We are locals, and this is the story every time we go to this restaurant. Needless to say, we have had our fill of the poor service at Lee's Wok and will not be returning. I do not recommend this restaurant. The service is horrible. To the owner of Lee's Wok, gratuity is something paid based on the performance of the wait staff. A gift or a bonus granted (earned) for exceptional service and paid at the discretion of the client. Your staff is not entitled to those tips, nor do they have the right to demand additional after the customer has already granted that GIFT and left the building. I waited 10 minutes to be acknowledged. Then I was told to go sit anywhere. Waitress came by and dropped off water and hot tea. I was never asked if I would like anything else to drink. I ordered there $12.95 lunch special. Chicken on rice with vegetables. You are supposed to have an option of soups. I was never given one. The Chicken was very chewy and the sauce they use was horrible. I ate 2 bites got up and told the lady at the register about the issue. She said they have never had a complaint. Best egg drop soup ever!! Just in town for a long weekend and we're craving tasty warm food for the drive home and this place did not disappoint!!! Loved the freshly and perfectly steamed veggies with beef and my husband is loving the deluxe lunch special he got! Too much food for one sitting do love having leftovers as well. read more

I was craving some orange chicken and thought I'd give this place a try. I ordered takeout. For a small square chinese takeout box, they really packed food in there which was nice! Service was very good. Good sized dining area, so we sat immediately. Dinner entrees are generous portions and served family style. 3 of us ordered sesame chicken, sweet and sour shrimp, and shrimp, scallop, calamari & broccoli entrees. All served with steamed rice. We really could've been fine with just 2 entrees and still come home with leftovers. Hot tea and the Hot & sour soup that comes with meal is delicious. We have been to Lee's Wok three times now on trips to the Oregon coast in Newport. We raved about the place from our previous two trips. Lots of really good food and great happy service. Our most recent trip was quite a bit different. We waited at the front desk area for quite some time before a sullen woman finally decided to notice us and directed us to a booth where we waited again for quite a while before she returned with a couple of menus and monosyllabic answers to our questions. Our food, when it finally arrived was not at all what we had experienced in the past. While it was hot enough, some of the items were extremely overcooked and tough (you shouldn't murder a chicken that way). My girlfriend finally just decided to forego much of her meal. Mine wasn't much better. I don't know if there have been changes in management, staff, or kitchen at Lee's Wok, but this last visit was enough to send us seeking a different Chinese Restaurant in Newport. On the other hand, sometimes a restaurant will just be having an off day. It happens. read more
