My plate, bbq pork, crab and cream cheese wonton, and chicken lo mein. Not shown: steamed rice.

On Sunday at 4pm, we were just tired and craving a comfort meal. Which to us means Asian food. This is our 3rd Lee's adventure, one was in Lincoln City, all 3 were delivered. The lady on the phone was great, very friendly. We ordered broccoli beef, chicken lo mein, crab and cream cheese wonton, and barbecue pork. The predicted time for food to arrive was pretty much spot on, she told me 45 minutes and it arrived in about 40. It is maybe a little more expensive than I would anticipate Chinese food being but a) inflation b) it's the coast and c) they give you a very large amazing ton of food. We will be eating this for days. Cold Chinese for breakfast, yay! It really is very good Chinese food. It arrived piping hot, carefully packaged, all the condiments were present, and we were overall very happy campers. Everything was loaded with protein, which was very tender (probably velveted) and they advertise it as having no msg. Which is cool- although we like MSG, personally. They have a huge variety of choices on their menu. The only things missing I would want are dim sum ( char siu bao, shumai, lobster balls, har gow, XLB) and a Szechuan eggplant type situation. I will live though. We will very likely get it again. .

Second time eating here, my food experience was great! The portions are out of this world, twice I taken to go box's, ordered the shrimp lo mein & orange chicken both portions are huge! Each plate Can easily feed three persons, shrimp lo mein had plenty of shrimp! Orange chicken isn't battered fried so it's cooked fresh. We also ordered the crab wontons are delicious & well fried, you'll get like 12ea! Service is low key setting so be patient, looks like low staff not sure if it's family own. When ordering, you will be asked if you like their soup & hot green tea. Enjoy, & be patient it don't take long for Mr Lee to cook he's a beast & he knows what's he's doing

Egg roll and wrapped chicken appetizer

We were at the little China Lee area in Newport where the Lee name is connected to the Rodeway Inn that we stayed at that had Lee's Wok in its courtyard parking area and the Lee gas station. So of course we had to try the American Chinese at Lee's Wok before heading out fishing very early the next morning. We ordered a sprig roll and wrapped chicken for appetizers and mixed stir fry and something called Mother's Chicken that was supposed to be spicy. We enjoyed the over sized egg roll as it reminded us of Kim's in Medford where we grew up, not particularly good but nostalgic. The wrapped chicken was really teriyaki chicken thigh wrapped in foil that was really difficult to unwrap. But it tasted good. The stir fry was the best dish and was full of veggies and different proteins. The Mother's chicken was just what we used to call Mar Far chicken which is breaded heavily, deep fried and then coated in a sweet sauce. No spice detected. It was pretty light on the chicken too. The portions were very generous and we took a lot away which we ate after the fishing trip. Tip; it was better after a day and reheating. The service was good and I would give it 3.5 stars but not 4. If you like American Chinese I think you would like it well enough.

Hot & Sour Soup - a little sweet but really good.
    Ellen K.

One of the baristas at the Human Bean recommended Lee's. Hot & Sour soup was a little sweet but I really liked it. Their Potstickers are homemade & HUGE! Six giant tasty dumplings of pure joy. And the Shrimp & Scallop Stir fry from the "weight conscience" menu had a generous amount of seafood & a great variety of tender crisp vegetables, served with a BOWL of rice. Service was okay, but the food was very good and I would come back.

    Menu

Updated Menu I personally not a fan of any deep fried items here but other items are good.

It was originally in a small eatery on the bay but we prefer it's current location at the north end of Newport because there is more room than at the previous location Gentleman wait staff was quick and efficient. Very pleasant and yet not chatty. My husband ordered the Special Seafood Pot as usual. That is his favorite dish and it did not disappoint. The delicious broth flavored mussels, shrimp, rockfish, clams, oysters, and scallops. His hot and sour soup was quite good, and fairly hot spice-wise. I had vegetable low mein, fried shrimp, crab rangoon and an egg roll. It was probably the best low mein I've ever had. The noodles were so flavorful and delicious. Veg included green beans, carrots, bean sprouts and cabbage. The rangoon was my favorite kind, with cream cheese and imitation crab. Though some people prefer real crab, I don't and prefer imitation. The only complaint I had was that I thought my Arnold Palmer tea was abysmal. It tasted like powdered lemonade meets powdered tea. As always, we enjoyed dinner and will continue to make Kam Meng's our #1 go-to spot for dinner when we are in Newport and wanting something other than fried seafood.

It's hard to find real Chinese food in this neighborhood and I'm glad I found it here…read more They also have an Asian grocery store right next to it that can meet most of your needs The food is actually 4 stars in other big cities but it worth 5 stars here! The beef flank stew is nothing like what their photo shows but it's still good. Not really a dry saucy beef, more of a soupy beef stew. Lots of beef (in this economy!) and the right amount of texture. Not too chewy or dry House special fried rice. flavor is ok, kinda bland, but has lots of various meat. Will try the curry one next time Stir-Fried Lamb with Cumin, generous amount of lamb as well. Rich, musky cumin flavor with a great texture. Probably will be crispy if dine in in person Forgot to take pictures for the Braised pork with preserved mustard leaves (梅菜扣肉). Hard to go wrong with this. Pork is stew long enough that it breaks easily. Just wish it's thicker and with more marinated mustard leaves Twice cooked pork. Another stable you have to try for any real Chinese restaurant. It would taste great on fish, beef or pork as well. My wife and I had one order of the Honey Walnut Chicken with rice. The Egg Flower soup hit the spot on a rather cool evening and Sesame Balls capped a perfect ending to a wonderful meal. The service here was friendly, with what appears to be a family run operation. It's very bland, definitely needs MSG, chicken powder, and salt in EVERYTHING. We ordered two different combos, a noodle dish, and a large soup. The cost was $70 and not worth $20. You get huge portions, but it doesn't taste good. POTSTICKERS - these are very thick, gummy, and flavorless. They are not steamed and crisped in a skillet the way they should be. They are deep fried but because the wrap is so thick, they aren't crunchy, they're just hard. The filling has no flavor. The sauce had too much sesame oil and not enough vinegar, so it was low in flavor. HOT & SOUR SOUP - the worst soup I've ever had. It's not hot or sour but it is extremely sweet and as thin as water. I'm talking so much sugar that you really can't taste anything else. There's no carrots or mushrooms, just a tiny bit of egg, a few bits of water chestnuts, and probably 2 ounces of tofu. I tried to save it by adding more vinegar and msg, but I could not add enough to overpower the sweetness. None of us liked it and it didn't get eaten. KING PAO CHICKEN - this was missing the small red peppers, so it lacked spiciness. All the other normal ingredients were included, but it had no flavor. BEEF & VEGETABLES: had all the right ingredients, but the meat had no sear so it was grey and had no flavor. It might as well have been tofu. The sauce was flavorless. VEGETABLE LO MEIN: this was the best thing we tried, and it was just passable. The noodles were thicker than they should be so it felt gummy, and again there just want enough flavor. PORK FRIED RICE: this was old, dry, and flavorless. I didn't find a hint of meat in it, no green onions, no vegetables. It was basically old, hard rice with soy sauce. SWEET & SOUR CHICKEN/PORK: both of these could have been the exact same dish, as the chicken and pork were indistinguishable from each other because neither had any flavor. The meat was cooked well, not too dry, and the fresh batter was light and crispy. The sauce was pure sugar, no sourness, so there just wasn't any flavor. EGG ROLLS: these are not egg rolls, they are ordinary crispy spring rolls with no meat. Basically they are just filled with a flavorless cabbage mixture. But they were crispy, at least. OVERALL: it may be fast, and it may be large portions, but if it tastes so bland you don't want to eat it, it's not worth it.
