Lee's is a nostalgic old school donut kiosk in Granville Island Market that has been around for over 35 years (looking like nothing has changed from donut to decor!). Large selection. The honey dip glazed and french crueller are my favourite. Yeast donuts are better than cake. The fritters are huge. Very sweet and rich so perfect for sharing. Reasonable prices ranging from $2-$6. Above average for the common donut in my opinion, but nothing spectacular. Best when warm and fresh out of the oven in the morning, like any donut shop. 3.5/5 read more

Maybe I picked a bad day or time, but there wasn't a huge selection, they didn't look super appetizing, and what I tasted was.... meh. I would have rather had timmy's. read more

This is what i call a real donut place. Fresh, chewy, melt in your mouth insides, and coated with whatever picks your fancy outsides. I usually end up with the sprinkles.. don't ask me why. It's the kid in me. Supposedly are donuts are better for you then muffins.. go figure. Lee's will make you feel better about that for sure! read more

Was told to try their glazed donut, nothing too special. Very light and not dense dough. Pretty crowded place though. read more

These are the best donuts I have ever had. Waaaay better than Tim's. The honey glazed, which are usually fresh and warm, are orgasmic. I also love the more dense non-yeast donuts. They are crispy, but with a nice cakey inside. The yeast donuts are lovely and light. This is one of the best treats on Granville Island and if there's a better donut in Vancouver, I want to know about it. read more

I didn't see the big deal about these donuts, it may have been the flavours I got though. I got the butter crunch and chocolate crunch and they were okay. The donuts were definitely very "doughy" inside. Not like some donut places where they are fluffy on the inside. I found that after a half donut I was full and didn't want to eat another one. There was a long line up though so there must be something special. Maybe just don't get the butter and chocolate crunch because those weren't that good. read more

Holy cow - the german chocolate donut was the best cake donut I have ever had. Fresh and fluffy and not too sweet. This will be a stop every time we go to Vancouver. read more

Many varieties of donuts and there most famous are honey dipped!! I took the chocolate crunch and it was super frsh

The donuts are good that's it. Tried the honey dip and the honey dew old fashioned cake. Both really good, cold and warmed up for 15s in the microwave Went to Granville island in the afternoon so the donut place was not crowded read more

Yes...out of all the delectable desserts at Granville Island, I chose to get a doughnut. But I had a craving for something simple and sweet. Like some of the other Yelpers have mentioned, timing is everything. If you get there as they take a fresh batch out, it is a beautiful thing. I've had both the regular honey dip and the coconut cream, and they are both very satisfying. It's also hard to justify spending almost $2 on a doughnut, especially when the going rate at most places is under $1. But by Granville Island standards, Lee's is a pretty economical way to satisfy your sweet tooth. read more

Go in the morning. They sometimes run out of the good stuff in the summer by 1pm. They also put a pile of warm ones separate so if you'd like to have a freshy to eat right away, man you won't taste anything like it. The best types is the honey glaze and sugar raised. Addicting!!!! They aren't the cakey heavy nasty type of donuts that you may be accustomed to eating from some average donut joint. These are crispy, fresh and light and come straight out of the fryer with a touch of chew that rrrreally represents a proper donut. The staff seem like they are severely depressed but meh, I keep going back either way. read more

Though the days of being able to eat 12 donuts in a weekend and not burst open my pants, I still enjoy a little bit of Lee's every once in a while. When people try and tell me about Timbits etc, I tell them to go to Lee's and experience a real donut. Made fresh every morning, don't go there before 11am if you want their full range of donut deliciousness. My favourite(s): 1. Vanilla donut with strawberry icing and sprinkles 2. Chocolate Bavarian 3. Choclate doughnut with mint. Worth the guilt! read more

BEST DONUTS EVER! These donuts are literally the best donuts I've ever tried. The one I tried is called the honey-glazed donut and it was so warm and soft. The person who made the donuts was very nice and made sure we liked them. Definitely a place to try while in Vancouver. read more

my favorite donut is a coconut donut and the best I've had ever was at Lee's. their coconut cake donut was out of this world. I've had coconut yeast donuts but rarely cake, but what made this donut amazing was the coconut they used. Usually it's grated shavings but theirs was almost sprinkle powdered in texture and it was real coconut. you also can't have a great donut without a great dough. their cake was soft and moist and was very neutral in taste so you could appreciate their choice of topping. amazing if your a donut lover. read more

August 2013 I was craving something sweet while shopping for my picnic lunch at Granville Island when I came across a display of donuts that seemed to be calling my name. I am not a huge donut fan, but I do enjoy them every once in awhile. I tend to be somewhat indecisive when there's a lot of choices so I asked the guy behind the register for some suggestions. His favorite was the mango and he said the honey dip was fresh out of the fryer so I ordered those 2. The third donut I ordered was some kind of cake donut but I don't remember exactly what flavor. The donuts are tasty but nothing mind-blowing. They were light, fresh, and not too sweet. The mango was probably the most interesting. The filling only had a hint of mango flavor but it paired nicely with the plain donut outside. The other two satisfied my sweet tooth but were just ordinary. Nothing to complain about but nothing to rave about either. read more

I was told by two trusted individuals that this was THE place for fresh, handmade Donuts. Luckily after tasting Lee's, they still have my trust. With Olympic chaos in full-swing, Granville Island was as packed as People's Square in Shanghai. Luckily the line at Lee's was very short. The selection was kind of sparse as I guess they were making a fresh batch. I think we tried the peanut covered one, honey dip and honey glaze (my memory is like a boomerang, right now it's up in the air). I'd have to say my favourite was the peanut one, but all were very good. I don't know why people like Krispy Creme, I find the sugar levels to be off the scale of acceptableness. Summary: Go local, go Lee's and enjoy Granville Island while you're at it. read more

So good! I'm kicking myself for not indulging and getting two. I ended up selecting the Mango Madness because I adore mangos and will always order it if I see it on a menu. It was divine. The doughnut was light and airy, the mango inside wasn't too sweet or gooey, which is something that makes me really dislike most filled doughnuts. I just wished it was a little more mango-y, but I'm an extreme case. I love mango goodness. Next time, that honey glazed is calling my name! read more

Y'all...I have dreams about the honey dipped donut. I wasn't expecting much from this place, but I was shocked when I took a bite from my donut and realized how chewy and delicious it was. I will definitely be back if I'm ever visiting Vancouver again! Absolutely great! read more

If you're already in the Granville Island market then you have to get some donuts from here. It's worth it. I visited here whilst on holiday in Vancouver, and now that I live here, I make a point of visiting Granville Island every few weeks purely for these donuts! I've never tasted anything like them!! The strawberry iced donut is by far my favorite! The dough mixed with the super sweet icing, it really is to die for. Why doesn't Tim Hortons do a strawberry iced donut? Such disappointment ;) So check it out! It's a little pricey but well worth it! read more

Don't miss out on these donuts. Seth Rogen and David Chang approved. For real. Check Instagram. I love this place. I make sure to pick up a box any time I'm on the island (Granville Island that is). I usually get assorted as all them donuts are delicious. But definitely check out their famous honey dipped donuts. All of their donuts are puffy, chewy, and sweet. Just the right amount of sweet, not like the diabetes inducing Tim Hortons kind. So, imagine eating a donut cloud sprinkled with your favorite sweets. That's what it's like, eating Lee's donuts is like eating a piece of donut heaven. read more

Most of the "fancy" donut places in town specialize on the denser cake-y donuts but Lee's is one of the few independent places serving fluffy yeast donuts. Just imagine the Krispy Kreme donuts but even more light and fluffy! I usually go for the classic honey dip but I tried the jelly this time and it was fantastic. The pastry itself is great as always but the slightly tart, natural tasting jelly really sealed the deal. Make sure not to miss them if you're in the area. read more

Coming to Granville Island Market around breakfast with the family, I knew I had to stop here for a donut fix! They've got a variety of flavors, your traditional stuff, some unique flavors, and filled ones too. I got to try pieces of the marble, the honeydew, and the apple filled. The marble donut was solid, great flavors and texture. The honeydew was decent, I wish that it was able to capture more of the honeydew flavor. The apple filled was quite tasty as well! If I came back, I'd do the apple filled again and try the honey glazed that the yelpers are raving about! At $2 a pop, they will definitely be a little more pricey than your chain store donuts, but these are quality donuts! read more

Pretty cheap and tasty. These were mostly baked donuts and we got cinnamon sugar, dutch chocolate, and a donut hole of "dipped" (glazed). The dutch chocolate was the best because it was a chocolate cake donut rolled in all the crumbs left over from other donuts. What could be better? read more

Whether you think it's "donut" or "doughnut", Lee's Donut does doughnuts well (that word has now officially lost all meaning). Twisted into knots, coated in icing sprinkled with coconut, no matter the appearance, Lee's doughnuts are always fresh and always good. They're a bit cakier than Krispy Kreme's offering, which I swear is made from deep-fried air, and are a more substantial way of obtaining a sugar fix. They offer your standard flavours, like honey dip or jelly, and are consistently good. Service here, on the other hand, fluctuates--seems like you're less likely to get a smile on weekends. Overall, though, this place is nice. Have to agree with the two reviewers, there are better ways to sate your gastronomic desires in Granville Island. read more

A great little location at Granville Island Market. We tried the cinnamon roll, honey dip donut, maple, and Bavarian cream. I've had better bavarian cream, but the maple and honey dip were amazing. read more

I consider myself the biggest donut snob - and Lee's is the best donut shop on the planet. This shop isn't about funky junk on top- it does have a variety of flavours though - however, they are experts in getting the batter flavour and donut texture (whether it be yeast or cake donut) perfectly. If you are getting a fritter, that batter is going to be different than the honey glaze, etc etc. This is opposed to other shops who basically have the same type of "bread" but with just different fillings or toppings. Each donut is its own unique experience! Must tries: Sour cream old fashioned, apple fritter, honey glaze, and the chocolate ring with green icing! To die for! read more

My number one place for donuts in the city. Always fresh, delicious and ready for me to sink my teeth into. I love their mango-filled donut!

Typically I am not a fan of jelly filled donuts but per the recommendation of a local, it landed on my Vancouver bucket list. Lee's jelly filled donut is the most scrumptious treat. The light runny filling in enveloped inside a crispy, light yet fluffy and chewy dough. It's not cloyingly sweet or dense as other donut shops, so having two in one sitting was no trouble. Try pairing with a coffee from JJ bean right around the corner read more

This is probably going to be my weekend morning destination for the next year. I haven't had donuts this good since i've gone to Britt's in North Carolina. If you like fluffy doughy east coast style doughnuts than this is the spot. I was lucky enough to grab the Honey Dip doughnuts right when they were pulled from the fryer. They were nearly perfect. There are also other items on the menu, but honestly they pale in comparison. Also, the girl at the register was really really rude and unsociable. She spent half the time chatting with a friend, and then seemed to have an attitude with us. She didn't like the fact that we were new comers to the island and rushed us along. This would almost be enough for me to not want to come back. If there is some moderator who reads Yelp reviews see this and give her an attitude adjustment. I'm sure you know who she is. But the Doughnuts are win. read more

I've had a lot of donuts in my day, and to keep this short and sweet, these are the best regular glazed donuts I've had. Lots of places can claim more "creative" donuts, but this dough is just so light and soft it is a MUST stop if you are in Granville. Catch something to eat on the island and make sure to leave room to get some donuts at Lee's, you won't regret it. read more

The absolute best in Vancouver! A must have when you're at Granville Island! They do run out by the late afternoon so try to go earlier.

Granted, we were there toward closing time so our choices were limited. After reading the review on Yelped, I had to visit and tried it out during out visit to Granville Island. the girl at the counter seems nice enough while we stood there debating what to get, we ended up getting hald a dozen donut holes (we were able to do mix and match) and the honey dip donuts. if the donut holes represent the taste of the donuts then I would skip the cinnamon and the powdered sugar ones. The chocolate and the honey dip was definitely the fave but the sugar covered one wasnt that far behind. Maybe I was expecting a wow experience based on the review but I thought it was only ok. I would definitely return maybe at an earlier time to try them again... afterall who would say no to donuts! read more
