The jelly filled donuts vary in flavours depending on availability and season. If you get earlier in the day there's more choices to choose from but only strawberry was left when I got there. I don't mind though because strawberry filled jellies are such a classic. Instead of being covered with powdered sugar, these jelly donuts are coated in granulated sugar. I liked it better this way because the exterior didn't get melty and sticky quickly. The donut was fluffy and had a nice chewy texture. The strawberry jam was on the sweeter side but I'd get this classic again in heartbeat. The butter crunch donut is a vanilla donut with crunchy topping on the outside. This was a cake donut was was crumbly in texture instead of being more doughy like the jelly donut. It wasn't as sweet as the jelly donut which I appreciated and reminded me of vanilla cake. The crumbles were a great textural addition to the soft donut. They also have this one in a chocolate version! read more

In July 1979, Lee's Donut was hatched on Granville Island by a couple because the husband couldn't find the type of donuts he liked as a kid. Since day one and even when the couple passed the torch to a new generation of bakers in 2018, all the donuts are hand made daily, hand cut and hand cranked into the fryer. They tested with machines but it made the dough tough. Lee's Donuts is one of the four original shops on Granville Island. The donuts speaks volumes of their status and often a line up is the norm. It's worth the wait. Don't pass go, don't say maybe next time, just don't. They keep it simple and that's why their light, fluffy and non-greasy good old fashioned sugary delights have a loyal following world wide. I ain't ashamed to say I'm a follower (and have been for many, many years!). Must have are the Honey Dip (best, if you are lucky, when fresh out from the back and still warm) and Jelly filled with raspberry, lemon, mango or Bavaria Cream. Today, after grabbing my favourite (Raspberry Jam), a new one to try (black and white) and a coffee from another vendor, I hit the market and pier. With a happy belly and beautiful views of False Creek, nothing beats a weekday delight. The line up is outside the front of the market: look for the yellow colour trimmed window. When you reach the door, please watch for the "come in" sign-on-a-stick wave by a staff as this means your are next to ensure health and safety protocol. Since last year, the Island has free parking so it's easy to do a quick drive by to pick up goodies. Check Granville Island's website for parking updates. read more

Writing this over a year later, but finally, here's my review! Like many other people, Lee's Donuts caught my attention after watching David Chang & Seth Rogen's "Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner" episode. When you hear big time celebrities eating at a certain place, of course you want to go there too. Boy, did they make the donuts look so good on tv. But does that mean that they are actually THAT good? YES! We ordered a variety of donuts. We came there in the afternoon because we had to commute from Washington, but if you come when they open, you'll definitely have more options to choose from. We ordered a coffee at one of the near boy coffee shops to pair with the donuts, and ate right by the pier where the ferries/boats take off. Eating the donuts while hanging by the water felt like a one of a kind Vancouver tourist experience! read more

Heard about these donuts and I wanted to make sure that I get them when we visited Granville Island. My friends and I loved these donuts. The line was also not that long of a wait! It went by pretty fast. Our favorite was probably the regular glazed donut. Soft and not too sweet! read more

SO GOOD!! I was hesitant to try Lee's thinking it was just mid donut shop like dunkin donuts/krispy kreme (I'm from the US) and boy was I wrong. I got 6 different donuts to try and I enjoyed all of them. You must try the honey doughnuts and the seasonal flavors. The line was somewhat long but it goes by fast, highlyyy recommend if you're visiting from out of town! read more

A fun place to check out different donuts at an affordable price! We tried the lemon filled and orange cake and enjoyed both. They are definitely very sweet but worth a try especially as a tourist since Lee's is on many recommendation lists. The line moves very quickly and there is plenty of outdoor seating associated with the market to enjoy your treats. Though they were clearly busy, staff were friendly and told us about their favourites and most popular items. read more

You know, I used to buy my donuts here more often before Seth Rogen and his show started the insane line ups! They are very good, but the line ups now are a bit crazy. But yes, better than most donuts out there! read more

Unbelievable donuts that I'd say are a must if you go to Granville island! You can smell the scent of the donuts everywhere surrounding lees and the line is usually out the door (but moves very fast!). Cake donuts are my personal favorite so this was my heaven - we ordered the cheesecake and maple donut and I honestly don't know if I could pick a favorite, they were both so good. They come out still warm and truly melt in your mouth! read more

While strolling through Granville Island Public Market for some fresh produces, I noticed a long line for Lee's Donuts. A very local and long-standing institution, this was definitely on my must try list. The line was long but the pace was quick. A half dozen donuts (honey dip, chocolate crunch, lemon, jelly, matcha) are surprisingly affordable, especially given its location and when compared to other specialty donut shops around town like Mello. These are unpretentious, straightforward classic style donuts and flavours. I think their honey dip are the best of the six with light crumb texture and gentle sweetness, while the others I found them a bit dense and too sweet for my taste. read more

YUM!! Yes we tried the honey dip since everyone we talked to recommended it. By far the best donuts I've ever had! We got there early and were actually the second people in line. First we watched them making the donuts from the outside window then came inside. The donuts were so warm and perfectly fried. My daughter got the chocolate frosted donut and even that was amazing. My only regret was not going back for a second round. We walked around Granville Island for a few hours and everyone had boxes from Lee's. If you got, get a box full, you won't regret it! They don't take cash, only card which is more convenient anyway. Also, be sure to grab napkins cuz you will need them! The donuts are nice and sticky. Awesome place with delicious donuts, don't miss it! read more

Heard lots of hype around Lee's, and it definitely didn't disappoint! We tried a couple kinds, but the honey dip donut was by far the best, possibly the best glazed donut I've ever had! The donuts are super fresh and warm, and you can see into their kitchen while you wait in line. We happened to catch a moment where the line was short (even though it was a Saturday afternoon) though soon after, the line did get much longer. Definitely stop by if you're visiting Granville! read more

Donuts, you either love them or hate them because people find them too sweet. There is a long line but the line moves quick. Lot of varieties and flavor but they're not too sweet. Their donuts do have a nice soft chew to them (more of a mochi chew) but still maintain the soft pull apart texture. If you're a first timer here, go with 1/2 dozen; Maple Chocolate, Matcha Cheesecake, Chocolate Churronut, Chrronut, Pink Tiger, Maple Iced, and Cookie Monster. read more

Not sure what the hype is about. This is a long time famous donut shop at Granville Island. It's your typical old fashion fried donut with various flavoured topping. They were out of the filled donuts. Not very attentive service from the staff. We ordered the sugar bear and coconut and when we left and opened the bag I see two coconut donuts. read more

we couldn't come to vancouver without trying Lee's Donuts. we got here on a monday morning around 10am and there was no line at all. TLDR; lots of good flavor combinations. donuts feel a bit lighter on the stomach and not overly sweet so that was really nice. for $2.50 a donut, it's a pretty good price despite it being such a popular spot. honey dipped donut: this is your classic donut. i liked it a lot--it tasted a bit lighter than your average donut. raspberry filled: sugar coated donut with raspberry filling. it was good but lacked a decent amount of raspberry filling instead maple iced donut: the maple icing is really sweet but the donut doesn't have much sweetness to it in order to balance it out read more

I saw this place on Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner on Netflix and put it on my Vancouver itinerary. There was a very long line, but things moved quickly. First, you grab a ticket and come back when it gets closer to your number based on approximate equation they have and the number they are currently on. I believe it was 30 seconds per order. I got the homecut donut and chocolate donut. I was blown away how good the homecut donut was! Nice crunch on outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. It was so simple yet so good! I'm salivating just thinking about it and can't wait to come back to try their other donuts. read more

Tried Cookie Monster flavour at the food truck they had at the BC dumpling festival in Coquitlam. I would say it was delicious but it didn't have a fresh taste to it which I was disappointed in to see with these donuts. I'd love to go by the store though to see what it's like. read more

One of my fondest memories growing up was getting Lee's donuts with my family every time we visited Granville Island. The Market is quite touristy and it's been 5+ years since I've been back. Totally didn't think of going until watching David Chang's Netflix show. On a recent trip to Vancouver I made a point to visit Lee's and lets just say it's just as I remember it! BEWARE of seagulls if you are enjoying your delicious donuts outside!! Ours got snatched when we held up the donut in the air to take a picture within 5 seconds! So watch out!! Lee's Donuts staff was so sweet! He actually knew about those flying thieves and gave us a replacement. Sound like seagulls taking food at Granville Island is very common but never happened to me before! I guess I never really ate outside ‍ Lee's Donuts always has a lineup, even pre-COVID, so try to come at less busy times. But if you hit busy hours, the line goes very fast anyway. How long can it take to order?? Just take one each! The donuts are very fresh, you can taste it, there's a lovely aroma from yeast and flour! The dough itself is very light, airy and has a good bounce. I love their filled donuts!! Sometimes they have some exotic fillings. This time, we made it to the Bavarian chocolate filling, absolutely delicious!! The chocolate filling is chocolatey enough not to over power the donut, and the sprinkles of sugar on top just mix well with the donut! The strawberry icing was very yummmmm, just like strawberry shortcake, creamy and fruity altogether! Lee's donuts always have a couple signature ones and some seasonal fun one like the Cookie Monster on display today. I really love the creative playfulness they have here. Totally will visit again! read more

Time for an update!!! I come here a lot and yes the lines just keep getting longer. I remember the days before Netflix made you even More popular, I would just come to the counter no line, and if Im lucky warm honey glazed donuts will be waiting for me. And I would be one happy lucky girl! Now I'm crossing fingers and toes that when I get to the front of the line there will still be some left. I've had some disappointments but also sometimes it forces me to try other flavors and nothing beats a classic Lee's honey glaze but I've had some really amazing donuts from here. If you come early enough the options are endless. With Covid restrictions, they've limited people in the market, so if you're wanting donuts the line is outside. This place has been my go to for donut cravings. If you're one of the unfortunate to not get honey glazed because they are sold out for the day. DONUT MIND IF I DO (: You can't leave Granville island without stopping by Lee's Donuts! There's always a line-up, but it's totally worth the wait. Lee's is a local favorite and has been on few famous food shows. On the weekend, it gets busy, an average 35 minute wait. They are known for their honey dip and jelly donuts. Lee's Donuts is located in the Heart of Granville Island, within the Market. They have their own line up to get donuts, and on the weekends it is something you need to commit to. Due to Granville Market taking essential precautions there is a wait time, to go into the market and to grab some fresh donuts. If you plan on going into the market after grabbing your donuts be sure you plan accordingly. There is around a 30-40 minute wait to get inside, so be sure you leave yourself enough time. Lee's donuts is a small bakery but they have a variety of tasty donuts to offer. The donuts at $2.50 a piece. The donuts are labeled with names, but be sure to ask questions if you have any. The staff helped to answer any questions I had. My favourite has definitely been the classic honey dip, as it's a fresh, soft, and moist donut. We also tried the jelly filled, which was okay but if you enjoy the glaze version I would skip this option as it's coated in sugar instead. They have many options of baked goods. My only downfall is the wait time as Granville Island is very busy, and social distancing was not always kept, and this is bit of pricy donut. But if you find the one you love it's worth it!
