Best custard pie ever. I've heard about lee's bakery and know they always have long lines during thanksgiving for their pies. I haven't tried their pastries and only their custard pie. Their custard pie is so creamy, it's almost like a flan! It's perfect and not too sweet. I'd say best custard pie on island. Parking can be difficult since it's Chinatown. I got dropped off and called in my order before coming in so the pie was ready and warm! They are open everyday 6am - 3pm.

I don't come here quite as often as I'd want to, but for the past 5 or so years, I've been blessed to get their Pumpkin Custard pie during Thanksgiving. It is the absolute best. Everything from the filling to the crust is just perfect (and I'm really picky about the crust). I wish this was something they carried throughout the year because I do feel it would be a good seller. But oh well, it's an excuse to go and try their many other pies.

It's been a while since I've been to Lee's Bakery, due to my work schedule. With Memorial Day weekend coming up, I felt like doing something different. So today, I made time to pick up some treats for the office. I got there a few minutes before their 6 am opening. Three others were already waiting outside. Just around 6, the lights came on and a gentleman opened the doors to let us in. I let the others go first so I'd have a little more time to decide what to order. I kept it simple--6 char siu manapua, 6 Hong Kong buns, and 2 long johns. The manapua went into one box, and the buns and long johns in another. Same great service I remember. When I got to the office, I had a manapua and a bun. I thought the manapua would be the highlight--and yes, it was very good--but I really enjoyed the buttery Hong Kong bun. I left the opened boxes for the rest of the staff, after messaging them, and they were emptied before long--a sign that others enjoyed them almost as much as I did.

Highly recommend Custard Pie. Currently $26 (price has increased) Lee's Bakery located in Chinatown, N. King Street, Near Open Market. Owner (wife) is always pleasant and friendly. A really nice person. Besides pies, there are pastries, donuts, hong Kong bun, sponge cake. Very fresh. I normally order a lot, since I hardly get a chance to go to Chinatown often. Owner (wife) provides a free recycle brown bag, very nice of her! I appreciate it. Open daily. Highly recommend.

Came here for our favorite Hong Kong buns! they are fresh and fluffy, the center has a thin buttery sugary delicious filling. After I paid for my box of Hong Kong buns, I noticed they brought out a pan full of their famous custard pies, and was told it just came out the oven and is hot! ah!!! I totally scored! so of course I bought a pie too! it was my first time tasting their famous custard pie, it isn't too sweet and the custard is smooth and rich. The custard pie is worth all the rave, and if you haven't tried their Hong Kong buns, you need to try it immediately!

Stopped by Lee's Bakery & Kitchen in Chinatown and now I totally get why it's a local favorite. This place is a hidden gem! I came in for the pies (which have a reputation of their own), but ended up walking out with way more than I planned--and no regrets. The custard pie is *next level*--smooth, creamy, just the right amount of sweetness, and the crust? Buttery and flaky perfection. It's the kind of pie that reminds you of something grandma would make if she had a secret recipe and decades of experience. I also tried the coconut and pumpkin pies--both amazing, not too sweet, and full of flavor. On top of that, they have a great selection of savory Chinese dishes and baked goods. The staff is friendly, and even though the shop is small, it's packed with goodness. Prices are super reasonable, too. Whether you're craving something sweet or want to grab a quick, delicious bite in Chinatown, Lee's is definitely worth the stop. Just be warned--once you try the custard pie! U might be addicted

Lee's Bakery is legendary for their custard pies, which are some of the best in town. Their pies are so popular that they often sell out quickly, and you need to pre-order well in advance. Just a heads-up, they're now closed during Thanksgiving week, so plan accordingly if you're hoping to get one for the holidays!

We should have known better that if you come after lunch the shelves will be pretty empty. Just so happened we had dim sum next door and once we saw their sign we wanted to see if they had any custard pies. The sweet and friendly employee behind the counter said call and order, hand motioning with her closed fist to her ear, smiling at us. We'll know better next time.

    Jason G.

Stopped by in the afternoon and they had limited selection, which is good as that means that they've had a lot of customers and people enjoy their baked goods. I had a coconut roll which was outstanding and very yummy.

I guess the Ghost Yelp started 2024 taking away my review I believe that I had on Lee's Bakery in Chinatown. Today I was walking around Chinatown and decided to pick up their famous custard pie for dessert tonight . Got there about 11am and yes they still had a few more pies left . I remembered at Lee's bakery their custard pie is more on the eggy side meaning you can taste more egg than sweet custard . It's depends on the person what kind of custard you prefer . I'll definitely buy Lee's pies time to time but definitely I'm not the person to go and wait for hours and hours before thanksgiving LOL!! Support local

Located in downtown Honolulu this humble bakeshop offers pastries but the most popular ones is the custard pie! Haven't tried 'em yet but will try next time if I am in the area. Anyhow, for today's quick grub: tuna bun & Chinese custard bun. All good especially the custard bun. The tuna bun though, both much. Tuna filling is way too dry. I will come back next year.

We took the opportunity to stop by for a pre-dinner snack since they closed at 6PM. It's a cute shop with multiple sweets including quite a selection of housemade ice cream and delectable mouthfuls called Cake Bombs (Photo 10). We decided we would be good and ordered one unfilled Malasada each. Dusted with various sugar flavors, they were just $2.65 a piece.
