Came in Wednesday April 23rd to ask about getting my a/c system recharged. The tech I spoke with said they were quite busy and if i were to come back Monday 8:00 when they open, he could have my car figured out by noon. Come today Monday April 28th showed up at 8:00 am. Gate was unlocked and wide open but garage still closed. Trired calling no anwser, knocking no anwser. Waited till 9:15am still no one around. Said screw it and went across the street to a different mechanic. Within 5 minutes I was given a estimate handed over keys and left. I absolutely hate when people waste my time. Do not come to this place, It is a total scam. If there is a 0.1 star, or zero star, I will give it to them. Chris is ok to talk to, but his not a technician. He probably owns the shop, but he needs to hire better technician to make the shop running like a business. Because he is not a technician, he is not able to give you any professional advice about your vehicle. What he does is to rely on a senior guy called Dean, who thinks himself the king in this shop. While Dean will rob you with $160/hour labor and overpriced parts that are trash trash trash. And again Dean the technician ... is too dry to talk to. He talks two sentences in a minute, he looks like that he is going to choke the next minute. How can I trust this guy to repair my RV? They never give you updates about your vehicle, and when you call them 4pm in the afternoon, no one will answer the phone. You know what? They all go home before that. What kind of life it is, wonderful. I guess the only advantage they have is that there is a heavy duty truck lift or jack in their yard. The next morning I went there, there were two guys who I did not see in the first day, jacking a van on the lift, changing the yellow color cheap Monroe shock. They look so unprofessional. When I were there, they suddenly stopped working, as if I was going to steal their technique, which is so unprofessional. Any YouTuber is doing a better and cleaner job than these guys when changing the shock on a 20 year old van. My RV has break problem and I want to change shock and anti-sway bar. I was referred to this place by some random rv repair guy on yelp saying they are "great", so I came here. I regretted every moment in this shop, and at the end I have to pay $120 for their "inspection" to get my motorhome out. I am so glad I did so. They want to charge me $160/ hour for labor. And they want to change my break pads and rotors for all four wheels even though only the front breaks have problems. They sell you the cheap Monroe shocks for $200+ each, which they call "heavy duty and top of the line", and they charge you 4 labor hours for replacing the shock, which later I did myself in 20 minutes per shock. In total they quoted me $4200 part and labor for the breaks and the shocks and the front anti-sway bar, $4200 Fu.. dollars!!!. How dare you. Tell you what? I bought Hellwig front and rear anti-sway bar, and changed them within 1 hour. I do not have to lift or jack the elephant at all. I bought Bilstein shocks on Amazon, and couple of wrenches in Homedepot. These guys even have not heard of Bilstein and Hellwig. what the F.... I went across the street to Lemon Grove automotive, and the Vietnamese brothers were so much better compare to these guys at Lees. I should not say so much better, they are not even compatible. I am so happy that I bought my way out of Lees, and I found the people that I can trust just 100 feet away. This shop should never exit, period. read more

My check engine light came on my Lexus. So I had a mobile mechanic come to my office to tell me what what was wrong and he said basically told me I needed a new engine. It didn't sound right so I took it to Lee's Automotive for a new engine. They used a diagnostic machine and it turned out to be only a few sensors and one hour of labor. I also got an oil change and tuneup. So only a couple hundred dollars later My lexus is running great. Thank you Lee's Automotive & Co. for your honesty and saving me thousands of dollars. I definitely recommend this shop for diagnostic repair. The only criticism I have for the shop was there was no customer seating area and not much to do in the area except a strip club and an old fashioned burger spot. read more

I came here with an old RV for inspection, once I brought my RV into their bay I saw several other RVs they already had been working on so that told me this is nothing new to them. I had electrical issues going on with my Mazda CX 5. Doors would not unlock. None of the power systems would work unless the car was running and even then the radio, interior lights and multiple other systems were not functioning. Most shops and dealership was going to charge me just to run the codes and couldn't trust anyone with the issue I was having. These guys troubleshot and repaired it with no parts. I would like to inform my fellow San Diegans about this Gemstone auto repair shop called "Lee's Automotive". It's kind of hidden as many great places are. The owner Chris and master mechanics there are all amazing people. They're friendly and very knowledgeable. They work on all cars domestic and foreign also RVs. Few places are familiar with German cars just like this one. I had a problem with my vw passat. It was reading a few codes. I replaced a few parts that were addressed to those codes. Time and money wasted and still getting codes after I erased them. Time passed and my car was no longer considered legal to drive until it passes smog. I had to take it to a shop and feared paying a arm and a leg. Thank goodness that wasn't the case here. They explained all the procedures so clear. No sugar coating just straight forward. I was able to see some of the problems when the car was lifted and they pointed out the location. They replace the parts with OEM which is considered original and not aftermarket. They found a leak in my gas tank( i was wondering why i always smelled gas). I drove the car for a while and codes popped up (now less then before) There was a possibility having to take it ,back as each code has 2-4+ parts that could affect it from showing. They replaced the more likely problem parts ( and no not the most expensive parts as many will do or the ones that take forever to install so they can collect hourly rate) Instead of adding more parts they diagnose the car even further with the new parts they had installed. Took a few days and were able to find the issue. To my surprise the owner risk getting pulled over by driving my car until the codes cleared or failed. He knew of my dilemma with time and money. Decided to do me a great favor. Chris called me with the best news saying "car is ready to smog". The cost for everything was more than fair. Thank you Chris, Dean and Nick. read more

I was looking for a mechanic who was willing to work on our older RV. I called Lee's late on a Monday and asked if they did brake work and they said yes. I asked how much and he said to just come in so they can check them out. I made an appointment and took the RV in that Wednesday morning. I showed up and was told by Dean (the person I scheduled the appointment with on the phone) and he said it would cost $160 to check out the brakes. He didn't tell me that when I asked him when I made the appointment. I told him I just needed the back brakes replaced and I don't need anybody to look at them first. He then showed me the sign that showed that they charged $160 and hour to look an RV. I should have left at the point and trusted my gut. I left my RV and figured I would have him check the front suspension since they were going to charge me $160 just to look at it. I got a call that evening from the owner saying the back and front brakes needed to be changed. I knew for a fact that the front brakes were good - as they still had 80% left. I asked about the shocks and the owner said there were no notes. He said he would get back to me. They wanted 4 hours of labor at $160 per hour plus new rotors and pads. I was told the rotors were "burned" and needed to be replaced. I asked if they would apply the $160 diagnostic fee towards the costs of the brake job - and the owner said no. After thinking about it over night I decided to suck it up and get my RV back for $160 the next day. The next day I showed up and Dean was shocked that the owner wasn't willing to work with me. I asked Dean about the shocks and he said all 4 were bad and needed to be replaced. Long story short - I took my RV to another mechanic and they said that the front brakes were at 80% left and the rotors were good and that the back brakes were at 40% and that the rotors were good as well. He said they should be changed in 10,000 miles. They checked the front shocks and said that they were good but we should probably put a pair of shocks that were designed for the RV - as they were a cheap after market shock. They cycled the back shocks and said they were good and great quality. They confirmed what I thought about Lee's, they were looking to get a quick buck. read more

At first, he wasn't certain if he could complete the job the same day, I wasn't in a hurry and I don't like to rush mechanics, so no problem. He had the job done later that afternoon, much sooner than he thought. The work was excellent.
