It can get really loud in here so you may have to shout a bit at your dining party. I would definitely recommend having a reservation. I don't think there was an empty seat in the whole place the entire hour and a half that we were there. Service: Really helpful and kept our waters filled and did pretty decent with the tempo of the meal. The entrees came out before we were finished with the appetizers and with how small the tables are it was an insanely tight fit and basically a juggling act, but that's minor. Drinks: We got the sake flight and I highly recommend this, it was delicious and a good variety of different flavor profiles, yum! Food: We ordered the xiao long bao and shu mei for appetizers. I preferred the shu mei and my partner preferred the xiao long bao. Which was nice that we each had an opposite preference. We also ordered the tonkatsu ramen and the mapo tofu. The tonkatsu ramen was a bit bland and it was interesting with the corn in it...however the chasu pork that topped it was delicious and plenty! The mapo tofu honestly might be the best I've had. I would order that every week if I lived in the area. The spice level was perfect on it with ample amounts of pork (I LOVE spicy food and this was exactly what I was looking for, my partner took one bite and started to sweat so be careful lol). Since I can't find this level of mapo tofu where I live I'm going to add this of things to learn how to cook at home, yay!

We started with the pork belly bao and an order of soup dumplings. The pork belly was heavily sauced with a hoisin-type sauce and the dumplings were quite bland. I definitely recommend eating them with the vinegar and s side of hot pepper oil. I had the Szechuan beef noodle soup and my daughter ordered the Miso ramen. Both the soups pretty much looked the same. It seem like they use the same broth for both soups. My soup is very planned I had to add the vinegar for some flavor. The food was okay. Service was friendly. The interior is a basic eat in restaurant.

Looked into why even with 5 reviews (5 star) it was ranked #2 in searches of restaurants near our stay. There's a cluster of Hmong restaurants and a bakery on this block and more on the street! Went with the Hmong sausage based on prior reviews and got the stir-fry bamboo with pork for something interesting and a taste contrast. Sausage is moist not dry and uniquely paired with the purple sticky/wild rice. Bamboo shoots are more fresh rather than fermented (I know some prefer the complexity of the latter), but this does not ruin the dish - here the flavors are bright and complementing those of the basil. Noticed the tendon/pork belly soup at $5 and this is a must even to share. This is probably the core beef broth they use in their soups served with sliced beef tendon and pork belly. It's a great complement to the meal with a peppery (rather than spicy) kick in the broth. I enjoyed it with a little white rice mixed in. Wound up ordering a nava dessert rather than a drink for the same price. Good coconut base plus a beautifully arranged layers of colored tapioca, and cendol. Team service made sure we were taken care of.

Get the house papaya salad and eat with some sticky rice. The salad was pungent, funky, and so umami packed we ate every bit of it. The Hmong sausage with purple rice seems simple but it is excellent. And definitely get the garlic string beans. I kept eating even though I was full, it was so addictive. Five thumbs up. Miss it already.

DanDan - Sesame Chicken Bao: I guess it's "American Chinese" because it's like a burger instead of a traditional Bao.

If you like a little bit of spice I really enjoyed the Happy Chicken specialty and (of course) the DanDan noodles are a must. For appetizers, the crab rangoons and Sichuan pork dumplings were so delicious. We also had the mapo tofu dish that was great delicious for the vegetarian option. So many delicious things to split between friends My absolute favorite dish they offer is the walnut shrimp. It was so delicious and sweet, I will definitely be ordering it every time I'm back at DanDan! Lastly, we tried some sweet mango crème brûlée that hit the spot at the end of a nice din din

Not sure if it was due to being takeout or they always do it this way, but orange chicken was basically served like sweet and sour chicken with the sauce in a side dish vs being cooked/tossed in it. Mongolian beef again was OK, but nothing special at all. Egg rolls... Got 2 for $8 which seems excessive and on the menu just said "egg rolls" so we were not sure on quantity but being 2 it technically was "rolls" but again, nothing particularly great about them. Not sure if it's representative of their food served in restaurant, but can say based on this I probably will never find out. Can't say anything about restaurant, service, etc as this was a 3rd party delivery order. Overall, nothing special.

We all decided to split various apps and sushi rolls, which were on happy-hour special and danggg are those great prices- we were shocked by our low bill at the end. Can't go wrong with crab wontons and egg rolls. As for sushi, we got a variety: yellowtail, boston, spicy crab, something with sweet potato? I can't recall the names, but they were all fresh & hit the spot.

The restaurant features a menu highlighting Mandarin influences, Thai, and Japanese, along with a sushi bar and hibachi tables. There's guaranteed to be something for everyone on this menu. We come for the sushi. They always have the freshest fish - Tuna, Salmon, Sea Urchin, Surf Clam, Eel, Sweet Shrimp, Abolone - you name it, they serve it. The sushi is available as sashimi style, maki roll, or there is a giant menu of different rolls and sauces to choose from. My wife loves the Sunshine Roll (tempura Lobster), and my daughter loves the plain tuna roll. I dig the Angry Spider Roll or a Volcano Roll. Crispy oysters are hearty, with a plum dipping sauce. I honestly haven't had anything I wouldn't try again! The sushi appetizer menu itself has a collection of unique presentations that have all been amazing! Before she braved the sushi my daughter often ordered off the menu, her choices ranging from chicken tempura to the Sesame Chicken or Lo mein, and always tasty with large portions. I was happy to finish later what she could not, lol. Service is good, sometimes the weekend nights get a little hectic but they make mean drinks! Get the Zombie rum mixer, it'll get ya there. My daughter always enjoys the Japanese soda they offer, nice little treat. Saki of course and Sapporo beer, there's not much you could ask for they don't have! Great place. Parking usually not an issue as much as navigating through the lot during peak periods for what it's worth.
